The Woodman’s Treehouse

The Woodsman’s Treehouse is a totally private and unique experience set high up in the branches of a veteran oak. The ultimate retreat. A stylish combination of sustainable craftsmanship and luxurious interiors with a playful touch; highlights include your own sauna and hot tub on the upper deck, a revolving woodburner, an open air tree-shower and a stainless steel slide.

The Woodsman’s Treehouse’s grand pier-like boardwalk extends into your own private kingdom: a king-sized bed, a double-ended copper bath and the rotating fireplace that can be pointed toward the bed, sofa or kitchen. A particularly notable feature is a window in the floor, looking down to the stream below. The thick insulating walls feature picture windows that offer woodland views, and there is ceiling window above the bed that looks up at the impressive oak canopy above. We have not overlooked any of the practicalities either; the treehouse has a proper indoor flushing loo and an entrance lobby for coats and muddy boots.

Superbia / Faded Glory by Martin Vaissié

In the words of the artist Martin Vaissié:

When dilapidation becomes a fifth dimension and ruins reveal their souls, the subject is no longer image but pure emotion.Martin, who vibrates more to the sight of decaying buildings than to the slick smile of the Mona Lisa, sees neither landscapes nor objects. His eyes only perceive the personality of each place, in all its pathetic or grandiose singularity.

There is a paradox between the magnificent presence of the buildings and the indifference which leads them towards their inexorable end. When highlighted by the lens, this gap gives the building a second life through photography. A moment of ultimate and eternal truth.

Between a pictorial and cinematic approach, these forgotten monuments seem to enjoy posing for the lens of the artist by offering him the opportunity of the special pictorial aesthetics, so plastic and often symmetric, that he loves. Martin’s works feast on the effect of these atmospheres which evoke the end of an era or the sunset of civilization. They are supported by these crumbs from our collective memory to extract their non-conventional atmosphere. That of the weariness of places whose facades have long since abandoned any trace of makeup.

But have retained all the beauty.

David Moreno’s Wood Stick Fantasies

David Moreno uses humble wood sticks to create intricate architectural sculptures. The sticks read like pencil lines of different lengths and depths that only come together when seen from afar to create these incredible structures. Stilt houses, floating cities and surreal stairs are all the product of his imagination and talent.
