Hiii so for unspecified art related reasons (definitely not horny ones) is there like a comprehensive and more or less canonical placement for the Astartes black carapace's ports? Like where do all those little suckers go, do most people just free hand it, whatever feels correct?

We know you're all excited to see your gifts – and probably just as excited to see what your recipients think of the gifts you've made for them!

Getting a comment on your work feels amazing. So, as we approach the reveal, here's a quick guide to giving creators some love:

💬 How to write a good comment

Commenting can feel a little intimidating, especially if you've really enjoyed something but aren't sure what to say. Fortunately, you don't need to write an essay.

Simply tell the creator what you enjoyed and why.

Here are a few ways to get started:

✨ Be specific. Was there something you particularly enjoyed? A characterisation, line, bit of dialogue, joke, plot twist, art style, or emotional moment? Tell the creator about it!

✨ React to what you read. “I loved how you portrayed X as...”, “The moment when Y happened absolutely destroyed me”, or “I've been thinking a lot about the way you explored Z...” are all perfectly good comments.

✨ Point out the little things. If there's a small detail you particularly liked, mention it! Those details are often things the creator spent a lot of time thinking about, and knowing that someone noticed can be incredibly rewarding.

✨ Don't worry about being profound. “This made me laugh out loud” or “I'm going to be thinking about this all day” is much better than procrastinating forever trying to come up with something clever.

✨ You don't have to comment immediately. If you can, please try to leave a comment within the first week after the reveal. Your creator put time and effort into making something specially for you, and telling them what you enjoyed is one of the nicest ways you can thank them.

But if you don't have the spoons to write a comment while reading, leave a kudos and come back later when you have the time. A late comment is infinitely better than a comment that never gets written.

👉 Remember: even just a couple of sentences can make a creator's day.

So when the reveal rolls around tomorrow, go forth and enjoy the bounty of new fanworks, and don't forget to leave some love in the comments! 💙

where does valeria appear apart from that one short story with trazyn and greyfax? or is that it?

That’s mostly it 😅 It’s the only Black Library thing she’s directly in, anyway. She’s also got some codex lore from 5th edition though, which explains more about who she is and what happened with the Dimensional Forge and another inquisitor, Darkhammer. The original description of her expedition to Solemnace is also in her codex lore, and so is Trazyn’s letter to her (which I think is in the Necron 5th edition codex actually?)

Oh also if you go looking for it, as a note, Valeria’s codex lore is in the Grey Knight codex because apparently in 5th edition that’s where all the Inquisition stuff was. She’s also got game rules for that edition, which is neat; there’s a lot of cool items and things that she has. She never got an actual miniature though. Some of the named Inquisitors from that edition apparently had rules but no minis; I think you were supposed to use one of a couple generic Inquisitor minis if you played them. In 6th edition, her lore is basically the same word-for-word in the Inquisition codex (they got their own this time lol) but she’s no longer playable at all, I think they switched to only including rules for named characters if that character had a unique mini.

There’s a couple other mentions of her even though she doesn’t actually appear anywhere else. In 7th edition, part 1 of the Gathering Storm campaign codex lore established that Valeria was killed by Greyfax and that Greyfax ended up in Trazyn’s collection, and that he brought Greyfax to Cadia, etc. That’s what then got expanded on in Mindshackle. And then in Fall of Cadia, which is a novelization of part 1 of Gathering Storm, there’s more in-depth mentions of Valeria in the scene where Trazyn lets Greyfax out, since Robert Rath wrote both Mindshackle and Fall of Cadia and directly references details from Mindshackle. There’s also a one-sentence mention of Valeria in War in the Museum lol

Found out there are baseline humans in Warhammer who are specifically into pursuing Astartes, like Space Marine chasers. Which then makes you realize there's absolutely a market for Astartes sex work. Which then makes you wonder if any traitor Astartes who refused to fall to Chaos and couldn't cut it as a space pirate ended up selling hole on some planet outside of the Imperium.

"But Astartes don't have sex--", sure yeah they don't have a sex drive, but that presupposes that every sex worker is only having sex they want to have. That ignores the existence of gay-for-pay and asexuals who do full-service sex work because they view it as just another day at the dick sucking factory. Sex work is a job like any other; you're not helping people with the fakakte self-checkout machines at Target for the love of the game, you don't have a passion for it, you do it because you need to pay your bills. Same deal.

So yeah now my headcanon is that there are renegade Astartes on backwater planets posting the Warhammer equivalent of Craigslist ads like "Night Lord needs someone to be the Lord of his Night. 500 credits per hour. Outcall only, no kissing, lights must be off"

Oh my god, renegade ex-Astartes who keeps his power armor to use as a costume for Bachelorette parties. Shows up with a boom box like "Good evening, ladies, I heeded the call to prosecute a compliance. Any bad girls here refusing the Emperor's light"

Then 6 serfs have to get them out of the power armor and there's just the sound of pneumatic drills and drunk 28-year-olds going "Wooooo" for an hour.
