Noodist #16
The Tennis Foodie 🎾
It's been a while since I invited someone to eat noodles with me but I've decided to go back to what makes noodle challenges exciting - the Question and Answer portion!
I'm so glad that I got to have the opportunity of eating noodles with an award winning blogger, @emmandamian (The Tennis Foodie). To be honest I felt a bit pressured cause what if he gets bored or something 🤣 Knowing him in person though, I was sure he would be game for anything. He must be one of the most resilient persons I've meet. One thing about @emmandamian is that he won't back down in the face of a challenge and he will work his ass off to reach his goals.
What I loved about our Q&A is the raw answers and reflective moments in between. Here are the questions the Tennis Foodie picked:
Question (Q): What do you want to achieve before the year ends?
Emman (E): I want to win a competition. That's not a secret. I want to win in GIMI and the Global Change award from H&M foundation. It's a big deal because of the huge amount of money (not mentioning the exact amount 😛). It's one of the biggest competitions in fashion so I really want yo win that. We applied for the early bird so more chances of winning. They say that the early bird catches the worm right? And for the Falling Walls Laboratory. These our the competitions we joined for our sustainable fashion brand "Hinera". Our teams goal is to leave an international footprint for the brand and AIM, the school that gave us so much.
P.S. Emman won 2nd place in the Falling Walls competition held in Mongolia last week.
Q: Wet and Soft or Hard and Long?
E: Syempre! Wet and Hard.
Cherrie (C): Wala sa option!
E: Di pwede iba? Haha Ano nalang, Hard and long. Parang difficult challenge, hard journey but at the end you get that sweet spot. May laman diba 🤔😅
Q: What would it take for you to di things out of your comfort zone?
E: I do lots of things out of my comfort zone
C: Like?
E: For example my personality is conservative but there are situations where I do wilder things. Sometimes, I need a nudge but it's all about confidence. That's life you have to take risks.
Pressure is a privilege.
Q: Rumor you spread that got anyone in trouble?
E: Hmm, not really a rumor that has truth. *Long pause*
C: Wow, you will really answer.
E: Not really a lie but probably exaggerate things. Like adding flavor to what someone did to make it more relatable to people. Like making a story out of it. That's what I learned from data visualization 🤣
Q: Japanese or Chinese Restaurant?
E: Japanese. It's my second favorite. First is Italian, then Japanese, Indian, Korean and 5th is Vietnamese. I grew up eating Chinese (food) a lot, so nakakasawa.
Q: If you are an animal what would you be?
E: If it's a mythical creature I will be a phoenix because phoenix always rises from the ashes.
C: Conchita Wurst ang drama LOL
E: I mean sometimes we really have to die to find our purpose again. If not mythical, I will be a wolf. I actually got to saw a real one when I was in Sweden and visited Skansen. Nadulas pa ako kakahabol ng wolf 🤣 I was so excited to see it in real life. They kind of judge you and they come in groups.
Q: Sunrise or Sunset
E: I'm not a morning person so I'll go for sunset. Sunset is also looking forward to the next day. Best sunset I watched was in Guam when I visited in 2016 for my birthday.
C: Aside from this, since you travel a lot, what is your favorite season?
E: Winter. Cause we don't have winter.
Q: What will you do on the last day of your life?
E: Probably, I'll be with my family. I really love my family. I would like to eat good food with them, celebrate life and be an inspiration, pushing them to be their best. Let them know you really love them until their last breath.
C: So we are talking about the last day in life...are you afraid of death?
E: I am very afraid of death. I have been in two near death situations. One was when I got hit by a jeepney. I got fractured and could not play any sports for a while. Second was when I was in a shooting incident in Mall of Asia, in a chinese restaurant. There was a gunman on the lose. I remember having an anxiety attack. We were having dinner (with family). There were gunshots and the staff of restaurant herded us to the 2nd floor. I really though I was gonna die.
Q: A genie appeared and said you will be granted with abs. The catch, you will only be given three. How will you position them?
C: OMG! This is our favorite question
E: I will out two in my belly para pantay sya. The third one .... Hmmm. Maybe inverted triangle like nalang para sexy padin.
Q: Would you rather know when you will die or how you will die?
E: Siguro, I would rather....
C: Have bad times with you than good times with someone else? 😅
E: 😒...I'd rather know when so I can prepare. I can do what I want and say goodbye properly. You are ready and have served your purpose in life. Cause how is morbid! What if someone told you they will mash your brains? 🤣
It's always a pleasure to catch up with Emman. He wear a lot of hats but he always have time for some genuine laughter. Emman is an executive, an innovator, a leader, a foodie, a tennis lover, a friend, and a loving brother to his family. I'm excited to see where Emman will go in the future, but wherever that is I'm sure he will always be like a phoenix.
Thank you Tennis Foodie!
