Chapter 1v:
Welcome Back!
"Meals twice a day?!" The said guy exclaimed in excitement, the angels had listen to his prayers, and it was much better than he could ever wished for.
"Yes! And it's all provided for the members every day! Isn't that a great deal?" You added, a wide smile plastered on your face, 'this for sure will make him join with no hesitation!'
Unnoticed by you, Masumi managed to creep up from behind with an annoyed expression, his purple eyes throwing daggers on the new guy who seems to be alerted by the dark presence that's starting to emerge.
"Who is he?"
"Do you know him?"
"Even though I'm here you're still looking for someone.." he sounded hurt from his last sentence, trying to make his jealousy seep out and giving out hints like 'Yeah, I am jealous' type of guy. You gave him a hard side-eye, 'He can't be serious right now!'.
"Masumi-san, please shut up for a bit," you sighed, feeling aggravated by his constant nagging but still feel a sense of guilt for purposely shutting him up. He remained quiet, acknowledging your words but still kept a solid guard.
"Would you like to join us?" Your sister, Izumi approached the guy and asked him, she kept a calm state yet she's nervous about the thought of him declining it as it is almost sunset. The boy was having second thoughts, and soon immediately gave out a response.
"But I've never acted before," the latter said. Sakuya joined in on the conversation and gave his signature smile, one that makes you feel very calm and relaxed even in this exact situation. You're lucky there's a ball of sunshine over here or you won't be able to be sane right now.
"Neither do I! So let's do our best!" He grinned as he spoke.
'Too much optimism, I'm feeling envious.' you cried out in your mind, wishing that you could feel as jolly as him right now but your stomach's doing a barrel roll and you don't want to do anything than to curl yourself into a ball and isolate yourself, Masumi noticed this and worriedly asked you if there was something wrong like the gentleman that he is, which you replied with an excuse and a thanks for his concern.
"Then, rather than acting, can I be a scriptwriter?" The light brown haired guy requested.
"Then how about being a scriptwriter and an actor at the same time?" Matsukawa offered, seeing as there are still some vacancies left for roles like that.
"We still have no scriptwriters as of the moment, right?" You checked, and Matsukawa excitedly nodded as you gave the light brown haired guy a thumbs up.
"Then..."
"Nice to meet you, everyone."
It was the realization that hit you harder, and you glanced over to your sister before finally sighing in relief. It seems like luck is on your side today, now, all of you except for the other two cheered like it's the last day of the examination.
"We made it!" Izumi cheered out, the others were on the same track by the looks on their faces as you felt a huge, heavy weight has been lifted off from your shoulders. You thanked your lungs for helping you out to chase this man down as you pat yourself proudly.
"I'm Tsuzuru Minagi. Thank you for chasing after me." He offered his hand out to you for a handshake and you gladly took it with a welcoming smile, he nervously laughed when he mentions the last part and you also couldn't help but laugh as well. Masumi was frantically glaring at Tsuzuru right now for holding your hand, but you're too busy conversing with the newest recruit.
"Nice to meet you, Tsuzuru-san," you said. Izumi approached you from behind and wrapped an arm around your shoulder, her lips curling into a proud smile as she cheered even more.
"Even I can be a scriptwriter..." Masumi blurted out, crossing his arms in disbelief, like he just got betrayed by you.
"There's no need to compete! And besides, you're already an actor!" You replied back to the black haired boy, scolding him for being so indecisive, he avoids your gaze with pouty lips. 'He really can't be serious right now!'.
You were startled when your sister shrieked in fear, her eyes looking at the sky. 'Oh right, it's almost sunset'. Izumi instructed everyone to run and immediately said that all will be explained later. You, Matsukawa, and Sakuya all nodded in unison whileas the new recruits both had their heads filled with question marks but decided to just follow up.
"So you didn't run away." Sakyo's amused voice echoed throughout the spacious entrance of the theater, he kept his arms crossed as he approached all of you, the heels of his shoes clacking with each step, blending in with the noise of countless pants from all that running.
"We brought members!" You managed to speak up first, your other hand raised up requesting for him to wait as you tried to catch another breath before continuing. "Just like we promised, two new members!" You added before clutching your chest very tight from being out of breath.
"A-are we...saved?" Sakuya was the next one to gain the strength to say something as he crouched down with his hands leaning on his thighs. Your sister was on the same page as the latter and you could also say the same as the others behind you.
"What makes you feel safe?" The stern voice of a man continues to fill the place, his face as cold and scary as his tone.
"I never said that the demolition will be cancelled just by gathering two new members," He added. You heard your sister reacted against it, her disappointed expression sums it all up that she's not buying anything he says. The others were left in complete silence, letting the two argue.
"No way! We'd gathered enough members for the new generation of 'Spring troupe'!" Matsukawa joined in, creating another level of headache for the blonde-haired man as he knew what's about to happen. Again.
"New generation of Spring troupe? Don't be ridiculous!" Sakyo scoffed.
"It's a completely new generation of Spring troupe, a new era of talented actors that many people will see!"
"When will they perform then?"
"When's the right time, director?" Matsukawa nervously turned his head behind to look at Izumi.
"M-me?!" Izumi pointed at herself, and Matsukawa nod instantly as if he just wanted to get things over with and be away from the glaring eyes of the yakuza.
'This is not going the way I expected it to be.' You facepalmed to the scene in front of you, feeling hopeless.
Your sister had managed to respond and gave out a final thought, and the Yakuza immediately decided it was for the best if they practice a lot and perform next month, which is really rushed and sounds unfair.
"That's impossible!" Izumi felt agitated, and you can almost hear her thoughts, all of this seems impossible but you can't think of any other way that could help you out of this mess. You really want to help your sister, in some sort of way, but you can't seem to find it, not when your mind's about to burst because of the overwhelming problem.
"Aside from that, there are three conditions that must be done or else...you know what will happen." His lips formed into a small smirk, knowing very well what will happen.
"First, tickets must be sold out in the Spring troupe's first performance." He lifted one finger up.
"Second," he lifted another finger up. "By the end of the year, all four troupes must successfully perform."
"Last, this agency's debt must be completely paid in a year." He lifted three fingers in total, each terms and deals making your head spin. 'Why's there a lot of unreasonable guys in this town?!'
"This is getting way out of-"
"If you even think one of the conditions are already impossible enough, then I don't see the problem of crushing the banner right away."
He remained on his position, his face etched with impatience and urgency. You're feeling more and more tensed, expecting everything you worked hard for until now will just go to waste. But you wouldn't let that happen, you're not only here to stand and watch everything, you're here to help your sister, and also to retrieve the same old theater your father left.
"There's just no way that could be fair! Destroying the banner is much more easier than successfully performing shows with not just one, but four troupes!"
"Don't expect me to go soft on you just because you're a high-schooler, you don't know who you're talking to." His hands remain covered under his pockets, the tone of his voice lowering into an unsettling sound. You shivered yet you wouldn't dare to show how much you're practically shaking under his death-threatening gaze. Masumi was about to step in but was quickly pulled away by Sakuya, so as to not make the scene even more heated than it was. Much to his dismay, he could only watch as you were being looked down, he never wanted to make things worse for you, but he wished there was a way to save you.
"10.000.000 yen." He finally stopped looking at you, now focusing on the others as you finally let out a breath you didn't even know you were holding. "That's the debt of this agency."
"Really?!"
"No way!"
"How is that even possible?!" Your big sister wide-eyed stared to Matsukawa, if it were possible, their jaw's would've already fallen to the ground right now. Matsukawa looks just as helpless as the company's state. Carrying such a massive debt must be the reason he's almost going insane by now.
"If paying off the debt in an instant will also be hard to finish..." It was almost too sudden to process when Sakyo walked past you and is now walking towards your sister, "I figured it would be negotiable if your sister is willing to be the paym-" his hands reached out to grab her but thankfully, Masumi swooped in.
"Don't touch her." He slapped his hands away, the noise echoing throughout the place. You'd have to thank Masumi for the save, you definitely don't want to hear the rest of that horrifying request. The though of him laying a hand on your sister is already enough for you to hate the Yakuzas and their disgusting ideas of payment.
Sakyo clicked his tongue. The air became thick and the tension only grew stronger. You just want to go out and eat something, this is too much for a teenager like you, you never wished to be included to heated up arguments like this! Yet again, you don't like the idea of leaving your sister behind just because this is an issue that she had more knowledge about, it wouldn't hurt for you to learn and be helpful, even if sometimes it ends up being more of a trouble than a relief.
Masumi lowered his guard once Izumi muttered a small and appreciative "Thank you," to him. When the blonde-haired man was a few inches away, he calmed down enough to step aside but still keeping an eye out in case he makes another move. He also keeps a glance to you, making sure that he won't be stopped once again when that Yakuza tries to get too close to you.
He hopes that atleast this way, he gets to win your big sister over and hopefully, get her approval of being with you.
Just as you thought things would end already, he proposed another condition.
"You have to be the director of this agency. No buts, no whys. My orders are my orders."
"Wait! Why do you have to include me in to the conditions?" Izumi approached, speaking out of disbelief. Being in this mess doesn't mean she's willingly participating!
"Leaving everything to this guy will only make things worse for the company." He pointed a finger to the manager, speaking with dissapointment while Matsukawa could only rub the back of his neck and laugh as if that could cover the truth. "And business matters is not something children should be handling. This is never a playground for them." Now he pointed his finger to your direction, gaining your attention with shocked expression that also includes Masumi, Sakuya, and Tsuzuru.
"I don't have any interest in this stuff." -Masumi
"Being a director is too much work." -Tsuzuru
"Am I really still a kid..?" -Sakuya
'I'm hungry..' your stomach grumbled, and you clutched it without paying much attention to the others on your side, who're all busy on their own thoughts and reactions.
"I can help! But being a director is..."
"Too much? And what? You're gonna follow your dad and run away?"
What does he mean by that? Did your father really ran away and left everything to ruin?
'But I thought dad loves his agency...?'
"That's not true! Yukio-san was never that kind of a person!"
"Then tell me, where is he and why did the agency turns this horrible?"
"....."
The manager couldn't utter a single word, too stressed to even explain the real reason of your father's disappearance. Your big sister quieted down, a feeling of disarray inside her mind. Surely there was some reason, right? She remembers all those days when her dad would go home late, too tired and exhausted to play. You and Izumi knew just how much he loves acting, and how much he loves the agency he worked hard for. There's simply no way he would just leave without even a single reason to.
It's been so many years, you couldn't even remember how many birthday of yours and your big sister passed by without having him to celebrate it. No matter how much your mother insist that searching for him was useless and a waste of time, there was still hope inside you that tells you that maybe, just maybe, you could see him again.
And the letter was just the start of your mission. To find him, and to build the theater back to how it looks like before with everyone.
You don't want everything to disappear.
Izumi sighed, her final decision now in place as she clutched her sling bag. There was eagerness in her eyes. It's now or never.
"If I agreed to be the director, will you take back everything you said?"
"I always stick to my words."
"Then I'll do it." The entrance of the theater lits up in a dazzling orange light, making her brown hair glow from behind. She will forever hold on to her promise, and she'll do her very best to be the director that'll help them bloom.
"I'll be the director of Mankai Company."
You can hear just how excited Sakuya is upon hearing your big sister, being someone who shows so much enthusiasm gradually affects your own mood making you feel relieved at last. You could say it was the same for others, seeing their smiles was enough to say that everything went well after all.
"Alright. I'll wait until the first troupe's show." With that, he left. You finally gained enough strength to run and wrap your arms around your sister, who showed the same happiness as yours.
"We'll be under your care from now on, Director." Tsuzuru started, standing beside Izumi to show his gratitude for having him in. Eventually, the others joined in. Sakuya, being the most excited boy around the circle, beamed with so much joy. "I promise I'll do my best! Please take care of us, director!"
"Me too." Masumi nods, eyes darting more to yours which makes the other sister to chuckle before she ruffles your hair quite messily.
"Thank you, everyone. Let's all do our best."
You feel a warmth inside your chest; this is what your father probably felt when he form the first Spring Troupe. It feels nice, you feel like all of you are up for a really great start. Izumi can surely feel it too, that same sensation of achieving something despite it not being so grand but enough to make fulfilling the dreams and hopes of others, it makes the two of you really really excited.
Well maybe too excited, because you caught yourself in a rather... embarassing situation when your stomach decided now it's the time to show off. You became stiff and your face was internally having multiple breakdowns. 'Why now?!!!!'
"Alright, let's have a little celebration!" Your sister manages to cover up her laugh, while you bashfully tried to make yourself less shamed by covering your face with your hands.
"That's right! I will cook dinner for everyone!" Matsukawa stated, feeling upbeat about the company being salvaged from demolition.
Well maybe your stomach crying out wasn't such a bad thing to happen, atleast everyone can get to eat too.
Soon, all of you went to the dorm with the help of the Manager's guidance.
