Was watching the promo for the next episode and things are not gonna be good for Emma. We already know she’s in central 14 (seen in this episode and said in the promo)
Look at the angle of the shot. This shot from a much lower point than most shots that would cut to a bed (notice the fact we can see the where the ceiling and wall meet and how Ahmad is moving downwards, lower than the bed). We also see a nurse gloving up, meaning that there’s a reason to glove up. Like if they have to get in contact with blood.
We’ve got two options. One is very very wishful thinking that I don’t think is likely, that Emma would’ve been able to fight the guy off and he’s very injured (to everyone’s surprise because how could Emma with the eyes of a lost lamb do that?). Unfortunately this is almost 100% not happening.
Instead I think we’re about to see a very brutal, very bloody reality of nurses and the violence they face. We saw a little bit of that with Jesse, with him getting (illegally/wrongfully) detained by ICE for trying to care for a patient. We’ve already seen Dana getting assaulted by a patient.
Now we’re about to see Emma, but the thing is, this is her first time. Jesse and Dana have been around long enough to likely experience this regularly, but Emma is fresh out of nursing school. She was shocked by the maggots under the cast, she’s been getting a horrific crash course in the realities of nursing in modern healthcare.
This whole season feels like a pressure cooker, a lot more than the first did. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next two weeks to extend the shift, but dear god it’s gonna hurt.
