like i do think that alfred was a starry-eyed idealist who dreamed of some sort of democratic utopia when he was a kid but he very quickly sold his soul when he was confronted with the possibility of power and control

Tolys headcanons... pretty please

hi sorry this has been sitting in my ask box for months bc i’ve been struggling to think of anything interesting or insightful to say. i don’t knowww much abt lithuanian history so a lot of the nuances are lost on me. i’m very interested in lietpru and their shared history however so this is something i’ve been planning to look into. i’m also interested in their respective relationships with ivan and the tension between the two of them that it sows lol.

i think tolys is a very resentful and bitter person who often contends with feelings of spite and helplessness. i also think he’s buried this resentment so much that it seems like he’s just checked out until it rises to the surface for whatever reason. i think he’s definitely snapped and brutally murdered ivan at least once and was prepared for his life to be hell once ivan came back but ivan was just like ^J^ and let that fear of repercussion hang over tolys as its own punishment

i dont even really know how vaping works i just know he would do it. i feel it in my soul

oh dude for sure he’s that “where’s my juul” song. he’s had a nicotine addiction since he was a teenager and never bothered to stop because there aren’t any consequences for him really. he’s hitting his vape in meetings and blowing the smoke down his shirt but everyone notices bc smoke trails are coming out of his jacket and he smells like strawberries

Love it when he’s in his brain too much and everybody’s friend but also nobody’s at the same time?? and craves intimacy but the reality of intimacy terrifies him but he yearns for it in a way that’s crushing so it’s easier to be mad or joke about it instead of being serious bc then nobody knows his vulnerabilities

He loves cinema for the escapism in that sense, too. It’s safe bc it’s fake.

AWWW THANK U i’m glad you enjoyed that post! yeah tho i think he grew up extremely lonely and both that and the cultivation of the culture of american individualism/exceptionalism followed him & greatly influences how he interacts with others. i think he rlly wants to present himself as untouchable/infallible bc he has and always will have something to prove
