Joly walked out of the door and down the street from where he worked. He had just changed into something much nicer for his date with Musichetta, for which he was excited, and a little timid. He would have walked there all the way, but hailed a taxi there instead, so he could keep his appearance better for her.
He got there and looked around for her. “Excuse me, has a lady come in here looking for a date? Because that might be me?” he asked the host. He hoped she hadn’t been waiting for a long time if she was here.
Midday came crashing towards her faster than usual today and it both excited and scared Musichetta. Whilst she was working she tried to busy her mind, focus on coffee and tea rather than the thought that in a few short hours she'd be on a date. It had to be some sort of joke, had to be a dare that she would have fallen hook line and sinker for. When the time came there was no sign of him however and her mind began to race. The hope that she had was faltering as ten minutes passed. She gave him some time, perhaps he was running late or something had come up. 'Perhaps he's forgotten to come and collect you' was the only thought that she clung to as she made her way to their chosen date destination. Musichetta tried to be casual as she walked through the doors, but it was half an hour past the time they had planned to meet and she was beginning to think it had all been imagined.
