A mistake had happened. The academy had somehow given the sperm of some cadets to donation a bit over decade ago, from an experimental study. The now General Hux had been one of those cadets, and the academy officials from that same study were stressed to reach out to him. A message was perhaps a safer option than a holo call. The General must be busy too!
âGeneral Hux, the First Order Academy is regretful to inform you a sample of your sperm from the study [ xxx ] has by accident resulted in an offspring.âÂ
The message went straight to the business.Â
âA girl from Serenno reached out to the providing clinic, which was linked back to us. We will wait for your orders how to deal with this delicate situation.â
<<By ACCIDENT??>> the message was perhaps a little angrier that was strictly necessary. He couldnât how this could possibly be an accident. Not that he didnât want children. Justâ not now. And not alone. He sighed, trying to decide what response to give. He wouldnât want to terminate it, he did want a child. And besides, the First Order needed whatever they could get. <<Give me the address of the clinic. I will deal with it>> Heâd get up, find his greatcoat, and stalk quickly towards the shuttle, barking orders into his comm to get the transport ready.
The clinic gave the general the address. The workers there were nervous, not knowing what to expect. They had a lot of work to do but this one thing made them forget everything else.
The boss of the clinic was there waiting for General Hux when he arrived. "Welcome to our clinic, Mr Hux." He said carefully. "Please come to my office..." He lead him inside, hoping he wouldn't be embarrassed publicly.
Meanwhile Cheurien was at the clinic again, waiting for her meeting. She had come to demand answers, since others always got them so fast but for her they some reason they didn't tell anything.
Then the main doctor and a tall ginger man walked by and she looked at the curiously.
The boss was horrified the child was there NOW.

Fortunately, Hux was called to a spontaneous meeting after his escape. Throwing himself into his work had always centered him. He felt fine until he was alone in his quarters after the reports heâd finished, after his shift had ended. Not knowing what to think about the situation or process how he felt, he indulged in an evening of curled miserably in a corner of his rooms.
Initially, he decided the best course of action was to move forward as normal. After several sleepless nights, he realized he could not ignore what had happened. The stress and distraction prevented him from functioning efficiently.
He answered the call in his quarters, uncertain what he should do. Letting his fingers run nervously through his hair, he managed a crooked smile. âYes⊠Sheâs probably been pestering you.â His grin widened. âDarya I⊠I trust your judgment. You donât have to give in to keep her happy, you could blame it on me.â
âShe has made sure I wonât forget⊠But I do feel this is the right thing to do. Sheâs old enough to decide for herself if she wants to have a relationship with you.â Darya smiled, happy to see the man she loved smiling too. âI wanted to apologize for my decision, Iâm sure it has affected you greatly. I just did what I thought was the be-..â
âMom, is that dad youâre talking with? Finally!â
âUri, you came already?â
âYes, Mr. Bron had just connected all the wrong wires, nothing harder than that. Anyway, when are we meeting dad?â She was excited, and already calling him her dad even though she didnât really know him. âHello!â her head poked into the holo view.â
âWhen it suits him. What do you say, Armitage?â
Hux rubbed his forehead, feeling slightly relieved the decision had been taken from him. He could not say no to Uri. Figuring this situation out might take some time, but he justified it by thinking heâd get far more work done in the long term if he wasnât distracted.Â
âHello,â he greeted, giving a small wave. âYes, Iâll come to you. Depending on your schedule of courseâŠâ His schedule didnât matter, it was always busy and filled with important meetings deadlines.Â
"How about next week's second day? Would you like to meet here on Serenno or do you want us to come somewhere else?"

He nodded, debating whether heâd rather have the conversation or create a crisis he needed to stay late and solve.Â
A grimace crossed his face. âIt was my fault they were in danger in the first place. She did rescue me⊠twice actually, but she would have been far safer if I hadnât been there.â Safer still if she hadnât been there either.Â
Not knowing what to say about the ring, he felt relief when the lift stopped and he could change the subject. âHere we areâŠâ
Darya saw it was difficult for Hux so she didnât push it. She walked out and saw the kids sitting together. âHello, Miss Eilbur.â The others greeted her but Cheurien didnât. She just glared at him. Darya sighed.
âUriâŠâ
âYou lied to me. You told me I didnât have a father. That he was gone.â She accused. âYou didnât even tell him right? How could you do that?â
âYour father had more important things to worry about than a family.â Darya said and Uri looked at him. What could be more important than family. Work? âI thought not having a father at all was better than having a father youâd know you canât meet and be with.â
At least she was honest nowâŠ
Hux remained out of the way, clenching his hands behind his back. His expression remained cool despite his anger at the womanâs explanation. Some children were better off never knowing their parents, Hux himself probably would have navigated through life fine without his own father. But Daryaâs assessment of him did not seem fair.
Nothing came before his service to the Order, but officers were allowed to have families, and there were other ways he could contribute to raising a child even if they werenât together. He was not given a chance.
Maybe it wasnât about his ability to provide support, or even about the demands of his career. Darya had known him well, and sheâd decided Cheurien would be better off without his presence. She might be right. Hux never had a good example of parenting. He held high expectations for those around him and he felt in the edge of anger more often than not.
In the brief time heâd known the girl, heâd taken advantage of her generosity and endangered her life twice. Uri likely was better without himâŠ
âI donât approve that decision, mother. I want to know him.â She said angrily, not understanding why sheâd choose something like that for her. Darya nodded, and reached out to her. âWe can talk about that but not now, we have to go.â Perhaps Armitage would agree to a meeting. She knew he was probably hurt over this, that sheâd keep a child from him. She knew his past, she knew he had once told her he was interested in a family.
âNo, Iâm not coming. I want to stay here. With him.â
âNo.â
âIâm not taking a no for answer.â
Darya sighed and looked at Armitage. âWould you be open to⊠Seeing us again? Seeing her?â
Hux blinked, surprised by the question. No doubt Darya would say anything to get Cheurien to return with her. She wasnât wrong. Most children Uriâs age, and younger, attended the First Order military academy.Â
âYes of course,â he replied with a tight smile, wondering if the meeting would ever take place.
âGo home with your mother.â He turned his attention to the girl. âAnd donât be too hard on her. She wouldnât mislead you without reason.â He felt his stomach twist, he needed to get out of this room. Clearing his throat, began moving towards the lift.Â
âIâll have your ships cleared for departure. Weâll speak again soon, yes?â
"Yes, we will... Thank you, Armitage." Darya looked at his disappearing back slowly. She knew he was running away. Not because he was a coward but this was all just too...emotional for him. Darya felt horrible, realizing what she had stolen from him.
She left with the kids soon after that and it took few weeks until she contacted Hux. Uri kept reminding her about it.
"Armitage... It's good to see you again. Now that you've had time to think...would you still be willing to meet us? Me and our daughter."
He nodded, debating whether heâd rather have the conversation or create a crisis he needed to stay late and solve.Â
A grimace crossed his face. âIt was my fault they were in danger in the first place. She did rescue me⊠twice actually, but she would have been far safer if I hadnât been there.â Safer still if she hadnât been there either.Â

first-order-of-hux:
He paused, wishing heâd run away earlier when he had the opportunity. âIt was⊠a while ago. Perhaps over a decadeâŠâ As if he hadnât kept track, as if he never thought about the woman heâd heâd hoped to marry.
He tried not to, it was a distraction from his work. Darya leaving had been the best thing for his career. Hux knew he never would have made General with a family to draw his attention. It was absolutely for the best, he was certain. But he did reminisce sometimes and wonderâŠ
So he must know it too now. Thatâs why he was practically running away with an answer like that. Uri huffed and sat back with crossed arms. She and her friends sat in silence, waiting until her mother would come.Â
Darya had landed her ship in one of their hangars now and she was waiting for the kids. And Hux. She was nervous, her heart beating fast and her palms sweating. Ideally Cheurien hadnât figured it all out but she was a really smart girl she was sure she had already.Â
âHux?â
Hux waited alone for Darya to exit her ship. He seemed calm, but if he had the option to face an angry Supreme Leader or a squad of Resistance fighters, he would choose them instead.Â
âDarya.â He cleared his throat softly. âThe children are in the guest quarters.â Hopefully they hadnât wandered off to explore. âIâll take you too them, if youâll come with me.â Leading them towards a lift, he turned to face her when the doors closed. He fidgeted with his gloves, wondering if he should attempt the awkward small talk that seemed appropriate for someone he hadnât seen in years.Â
He sighed instead. âIs there anything you want to tell me before we get there?â
Darya couldnât help but smile as she looked at Hux. He was still as handsome as ever. Maybe a little pale and tired but⊠He still looked like the man she had fallen in love with. Her heart had calmed a little but she shifted awkwardly when they were alone in the lift.
âYes, sheâs your biological daughter.â She confirmed, knowing it must be on his mind. How could it not? Maybe it had been a calculated move to give her the ring for just in case, she happened to run into him.
âAnd she doesnât know. Or didnât. Iâm sure she knows too already. She got your intellect.â Darya wanted to apologize for never telling him, and explain why she did it. But this didnât feel like the right place nor moment.
âAnd she will be really mad when she sees me. JustâŠwatch out for that.â Mother knows her child well.
Rubbing his face, Hux could relate to Uriâs anger. He felt a good deal of it, as well as some other emotions he couldnât name yet. He wasnât good with situations involving feelings and relationships, he had little practice. But it wasnât the time for a conversation, the lift would open soon.Â
âI think she might have guessed it. I didnât tell her anythingâŠâ He hadnât been absolutely sure until now. âShe only just found out I knew you.â
"I would like to talk about these things with you but..not in this setting. I think we should meet later, somewhere else. If you're able to, that is." Darya held his arm for a moment and let go as she gave him a little smile. Her love for him would never die completely.
"I'm still glad it was you she ran into. I never thought this would happen, but I still gave her the ring for just in case. You'd recognize it, I was sure of it."

âHux?â
first-order-of-hux:
Hux took s moment to breathe and calm himself, deciding it would be more subtle than sprinting away after the call ended. He clenched his fists behind his back to keep from messing his hair. Maybe heâd get lucky and the New Republic would declare war before he had to meet with the Darya.
He caught sight of the girl. She seemed to be thinking hard and not liking what was in her mind. Not wanting to face any potential questions, Hux turned to leave. He needed a quick drink before returning to work. Not his habit, but these were not normal circumstances.
âWait!â Uri saw the man was already leaving. âI have a question!â If he answered it, it would confirm her thoughts. âUhm...when was the last time you saw my mother?â If it was 14 years ago... Itâd mean he could be her father. He didnât even know she existed.
Hux bit his tongue, thinking the galaxy trips should never have occurred n the first place. It wasnât his business, he reminded himself again.Â
Huxâs years of practice listening to lectures and taking orders prevented him from protesting or squirming at the request. The last thing he wanted to meet with Darya.Â
He gave a tight smile, hoping he seemed calm and unaffected. He felt like bolting. âYes, of course,â he replied. âIâll send you coordinates of where to meet.âÂ
Darya got the coordinates soon and she was on her way. Meanwhile Cheurien was thinking really really hard. Putting the few puzzle pieces she had together. She was silently staring the General as she played with the ring she had.
Oh wait. She looked down at the ring and then back at Hux. He had recognized it. That's why he asked, right? Her mom and he knew each other and he knew the ring. They both seemed awkward first. Also.
Her mother didn't have ginger hair. Uri always knew that was from her father then. She touched her hair for a second as she was thinking about the theory, and glanced up at Hux's hair.
Uri started to look distressed because the idea she had would change everything. And mean that her mom lied to her for all her life.
Her friend noticed. "Are you okay, Uri?"
"Wha- yeah, I'm fine." She forced out.
first-order-of-hux:
Hux rolled his eyes. A galaxy full of chaos and criminals was far more dangerous than the Order.Â
âThey are perfectly safe, I assure you,â he called, stepping into view. âThey werenât beforeâŠâ He wondered if he should bother with an introduction.Â
âIâm not going to keep them here, they are free to leave, but they will be given an escort home. I am not comfortable releasing them on their own to find more trouble.â
Daryaâs eyes widened when she heard and saw the man who was with them. Armitage HuxâŠher ex-lover. The father of her child. What were the chances sheâd meet him like this? It felt unreal.
âThank you, Hux.â The mother said, and Cheurien was confused at how she knew him. âYou know this guy?â She asked her, and looked at her and then the general. Darya didnât answer.
âI will be picking them all up, do not bother with an escort. I am sure you have better things to do.â
Hux ignored Uriâs question as well, relieved to follow Daryaâs example.
The look of surprise on the womanâs face was slightly gratifying, but Hux almost lost his calm facade when the woman stated she would retrieve the children herself. He had hoped for a conversation but not this soon.
âHere⊠here? You want to come her?â He winced when he heard the tone of his voice.
Cheurien sensed something was horribly off with the whole situation. She just didn't know why. She knew that her mom and this man knew each other somehow, but they clearly didn't want her to know. Also the General wasn't excited about her mom coming to get them.
"Mum, we can co-...", "No, I will come pick you up, young lady. I think your galaxy trips are enough for now." She said sternly with her mom voice and Uri didn't complain. Even though she was disappointed. "Okay..."
"Yes. I will be there as soon as possible. And... I'd like you to be the one to bring them to me. Can you do that?" She sounded unsure, but she still trusted the man she almost married.

first-order-of-hux:
Hux wasnât a parent⊠or hadnât thought he was, but he believed he would be a little more concerned for his childâs safety than the woman on the holo seemed.Â
He bit his lip and hung back, fighting the urge to step in and start shouting about the dangers of naive parenting. He would wait to see how the call went, and wait until he knew what he wanted to say, if he wanted to make his presence known at all.Â
Staying out of it would be the simplest solution.Â
âYes mom, everything is okay. We had little trouble but we dealt with it and now we are... resting.â Cheurien smiled. Her friends stayed out of it after greeting her mother too. âOh, what kind of trouble?âÂ
âWe...helped a soldier and he got kidnapped and we saved him and now we are enjoying their hospitality.â She tried to make it sound as calm and not serious as she could. Her mother was quiet though and it had Cheurien worried. Telling the truth was probably the best idea because if she didnât and her mom found out, she wouldnât let her travel anymore.
âAnd where are you now?â
â...Uhm...on..some sort of...battlecruiser?â
âYouâre inside a First Order military ship??â She raised her voice. âUri, what are you thinking?? Thatâs not safe!â There was different kind of hidden fear in her voice but Uri couldnât tell why. It sounded different from her just being scared for her safety.
âFirst Order isnât for children. Their priorities are elsewhere, Uri. You get out of there now, before something happens.â
first-order-of-hux:
The children would absolutely not be continuing their trip, whether the bounty hunters gave up or not. They would be safely escorted back to their home planet.Â
Hux knew he did not have much right to discuss parenting with Cheurienâs mother, but letting children wander the galaxy by themselves was reckless. He could at least inform her that her daughter invited strangers aboard her ship and was almost shot and captured by bounty hunters. Hopefully she might be more cautious when funding her childâs hobbies.Â
He cleaned up and quickly made his report and finished the most important tasks before visiting the children again.Â
âGuys my mom is calling...â Cheurien had a small holo device in her hand and she put in on the table. She turned her head to the side to see the General was there again.
âIs that even possible? We are inside the First Order.â âI guess it is...â She shrugged, and then her mom appeared. âCheurien.â Darya smiled. âHi mom.â âYou havenât contacted me in a while. Is everything okay?â She wasnât sure at all if she should tell her what really had happened or just lie something.Â
