I hate the people that try to justify Kaito's violence, yelling, and tactless comments by saying he was "just angry."
He can be as angry as he wants, but that doesn't mean Kaito gets to tell Ryoma he's a sissy for being openly depressed and suicidal or complain that Ryoma is bringing the mood down or call Korekiyo a slur or hit Shuichi and Kokichi for no good reason.
Kaito shouldn't have acted on his feelings, and if he ~just can't stop himself~ from being belligerent then that's a problem he needs to work on, not something fans should write off. It's not just a fluke, it's a flaw in his character that should rightfully be criticized, by stans and haters alike. Kaito should not get a pass for any of this.
I also especially hate the people who say that it's okay that Kaito punched Kokichi because "Kokichi deserved it." Need I remind everyone that Kaito had punched Kokichi before Miu was murdered?
In this instance Kokichi had done nothing but bluff about killing. Ya know, like Kokichi has always bluffed about but never did? Ya know, just like Maki has done on several occasions, some of which being dead serious and not lies or bluffs at all?
And what's with that anyway? He assumes the worst in Kokichi for lying but he straight up sees Maki choke Kokichi and is told she's killed people before and thinks "I bet she's nice deep down because she's a woman"? That's literally so stupid and misogynistic.
Maki, the Ultimate Assassin, is way more of a legitmate, credible threat than Kokichi, who's literally only 5ft tall and less than 100 pounds but Kaito thought that Kokichi– someone he knows lies a lot– was someone who needed to be punched (not talked to but punched) for threatening people but Maki didn't when she's done the exact same thing and actually has the skills to back it? If Kaito had punched Maki for threatening people fans would so go apeshit, but because it was Kokichi his stans don't care if Kaito was in the wrong or not.
Even Kaito himself acknowledges that it all could have been a lie, but he'd rather punch Kokichi first than ask first him, apparently.
Might I also add that the only reason he didn't hit Kokichi again was because Kiibo stepped in and told him off?
We know this because Shuichi internally remarks that Kiibo's words were able to get through to Kaito and only then did Kaito drop his fist, establishing that Kiibo was the only reason that Kaito stopped. He didn't drop his fist after his first punch. He was prepared to hit Kokichi again if Kiibo hadn't spoken up, but yeah, sure, Kaito doesn't have any issues with anger or violence whatsoever and so criticism towards him is unjustified. /s
I'm so sick of abuse apologist rhetoric being used to defend Kaito. Like him all you want, but he absolutely deserves criticism.
