of COURSE it is important to understand that bisexuality isn’t transphobic, and of COURSE it is important to understand that being a lesbian doesn’t make you a t/erf, but i really hate how nobody talks about transphobia (and more specifically transmisogyny) unless it’s to discuss how a group they’re part of ISN’T transphobic. it’s like, some wild game of tag where everybody is fighting over how untransphobic they are whilst never actually giving a shit about trans people
example:
i see a lot of posts saying not to conflate lesbianism with terfs. good! 100% agree! i ALSO see a lot of posts saying “friendly reminder that lesbians aren’t terfs” or “real lesbians aren’t terfs” and more recently, i saw a post with a bunch of pride flags each with text dispelling a stereotype, like non-binary was like “we’re not confused” but the lesbian one was “we aren’t terfs”
like!!! as a lesbian myself, actually, there ARE lesbians who are terfs, and i hate how the sentiment “it’s lesbophobic to assume lesbians are transphobic” (which is true) has somehow been warped into “by being a lesbian i inherently supporting trans women” and “terfs can’t be lesbians” and “real lesbians aren’t terfs” because it’s just such an obvious dodge of inspecting personal biases and challenging intracommunity issues; it’s such an obvious way of avoiding introspection on our community and it’s transphobic as hell!
