Chapter 1
It was the first Saturday, in September and it was one of the hottest days on record in Manchester. There was a late summer this year due to having no sun over the actual summer months.
Eva had stopped at her local petrol station, on her way home. She turned the engine off and cutting all supplies of the air conditioning. The air in the car now felt warm, sticky and humid. She let out a small huff as she stepped out of her black Audi Q5 and shut the car door behind her. She walked away from her car locking the key. Eva removed her sunglasses from her eyes and into her hair.
She walked through the petrol station door and hearing the bell chime. She headed straight to the freezer, to where the ice creams were. She needed something to cool her down in this unbearable heat. Eva opened the freezer door and she stood there for a few seconds relishing in the cold air. It felt good on her skin. She felt a sudden chill that hardened her nipples.
There was a loud commotion, that quickly pulled her from her trance from inside the freezer. She looked around but couldn’t really see what was going on. She was too invested in the freezer, that she didn’t take notice of what was going on.
After a few minutes of searching through for the right fruity treat. She settled on a few freezer pops in the flavours of Cola and Strawberry. Eva knew that these sweet treats would be perfect, to keep her cool on the drive home.
She walked over to the register and placed her ice-lollies onto the counter at the same time as someone else had placed something down. She was about to find out why there was so much commotion earlier.
Eva looked up and realized that it was none other than Manchester City footballer player Erling Haaland. They both spoke at the same time saying, “Sorry,” as they bumped into each other. He was looking down as she was looking up.
The first thing she noticed was his clear blue eyes. Even though he was tall she didn't find his height intimidating as he towered over her. They continued to stare at each other.
The guy stood behind the desk cleared his throat and spoke.
“Who's paying first?”
Eva had to drag her eyes away from Erling, to turn and look at the guy stood behind the desk. He couldn’t care about there interaction.
“Hmm you can go.” Eva said. She looked back at Erling, this time her eyes found his lips. They were full, pouty and very much like hers.
“No, go ahead, you can go first.” he said, motioning towards the items on the cash desk.
“Only if you’re sure,” she said, continuing to stare at his lips as he talked.
“I’m sure, you can go first,” he smiled.
“I'll pay first!” Eva smiled, turning to look back at the short haired guy.
“Nice tattoo.” Erling was talking about the full sleeve tattoo that occupied her left arm, that was going down to her hand.
“Thank you- I mean it did hurt a lot…it hurt the most out of them all.” Eva said looking down at her tattoo. She then cast her eyes back up looking at him.
She had more Haaland thought he couldn’t see where the others were hiding. He thought he got a small glimpse of the one that adorned her right thigh.
…
Truth is. Haaland had noticed her as soon as she walked in. Hoping to catch her eyes but she was more interested in the freezer. He smiled a little to himself still watching her as she had a mixture of blonde and black braids that cascaded down her back stopping past her bum. The light blue, patterned halter neck dress. That had short layers of ruffles that stopped around her thighs. The black Doc Marten sandals that covered her pink painted toenails.
He watched her as she leaned into the freezer bending over slightly more and the way the back of the dress hitched up. He felt a stir in his shorts.
After Eva had paid for her ice lollies, she taken them from the counter and walked out. Hearing the bell chime again on her way out.
“Hey, I didn’t catch your name.” Erling shouted chasing after her.
Eva turned around smiling, placing her sunglasses back over her eyes.
“That’s because I didn't tell you my name,” Eva opened her car door and climbed inside.
Erling stood watching her, as she drove her car out of the petrol station. The corner of his lip curled up. He continued to watch as her car disappeared. He headed to his own car wondering if he would ever get to see her again.
