Industrial Design students Caleb Rancourt, Chris Kitchen, Claire Buttefield, Amanda Phung, Morgan Matt, and Stephanie Pekala have been working with DesignHouse this semester to help revitalize local manufacturing through design. Last night they helped host a DesignJam, a large community brainstorm, centered around a local sand-casting facility named Universal Electric Foundry. The foundry has slowly been losing business and now they have no work and are unsure what to do about it. DesignHouse will take the numerous ideas that came out of last night's jam and further ideate upon to hopefully #savethefoundry.

Jaime Lerner: CÓMO PENSAR UNA CIUDAD Jaime Lerner es arquitecto y urbanista. Con visión de arquitecto gobernó tres períodos su ciudad natal Curitiba, y dos el estado de Paraná. Esa visión lo guió en el liderazgo de la revolución que hizo de la ciudad una referencia nacional e internacional en planificación urbana, transporte, medio ambiente y programas sociales. También fue presidente de la Unión Internacional de Arquitectos entre 2002 y 2005. De ideas simples y precisas con actuaciones rápidas de mejora en puntos concretos, Jaime Lerner fue consultor de decenas de ciudades de todo el mundo a las que asesoró en la elaboración de planes de desarrollo urbano. Su lema la creatividad empieza cuando le sacás un cero al presupuesto inspiró un gran número de soluciones únicas a los problemas urbanos en los cinco continentes.
