Pete Campbell being relatable - Mad Men 7x02
i admit there is a possibility that i may not be in my fully⦠right mind right now.
Athena blessed her with the ability to protect herself and men beheaded her for it.
Thatās actually a really intetesting intpretation of it I hadnāt thought of. Most people seem to think Athena turned Medusa into a gorgon as punishment for defiling her temple, but thinking that she did so to protect her from being abused again is interesting and I like it!
Athenaās hands were tied. Yes, she was a powerful Goddess, but she was very much a woman in a āboys clubā, and the true offending party (donāt think for a moment that Athena blamed Medusa for being raped in the temple, Athena knows better) held all the cards. There was nothing that Athena could do to punish the true criminal, and she was expected to punish Medusa by everyone else. Whatās a Goddess to do when she cannot punish those who need to be punished and is expected to punish not only the truly innocent party, but her most beloved follower? Use that incredible brain power she had to protect Medusa at all costs, and of course the men would see it as punishment, to be have her beauty stripped from her and sent to live in the shadows. Medusa should have been KILLED for supposedly defiling the temple, whether she truly did or not, but she was given the gift of life, and the ability to protect herself and her daughters (who she bore thanks to Poseidon). This is why Medusaās image was used to signify womanās shelters and safe houses.
Medusa means āguardian; protectressā, and she was.
holy shit.
You must know⦠surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as Iād scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I loveāI loveāI love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. -Ā Mr. Darcy

-Wait a minute. Donāt I know you from somewhere?
-Yes, Yes! Iām George McFly. Iām your density. I meanā your destiny
"Through Night & Day"
"Thoughts while watching Through Night and Day(because I have to write this out so I could move on from this movie, or else Iād still criii):
1. You can love a person so much and still get tired. We can only expand up to our very limit. Layers and layers can be carved out until the very last string gets untied. Loving another human doesnāt remove the fact that you, yourself, are also human. You can adjust all you want, but if the situation gets too big, no matter how much you want to keep it, it would no longer fit in your box. Therefore, we let go. Not because we stop loving, but because we love and that carrying on would only deform the other person.
2. Sometimes, we donāt always get what we planned for with the person we planned it with. Just like how sunsets are never the same color, we get endings differently than how we initially perceived it would be. We know thereās always an end, we just donāt know if this is it. Sometimes, we like to think thereās another chance. Sometimes, we hope the person who left would make a u-turn, and it wouldnāt have to be the end.
3. It is the people we love who has the power to hurt us extensively. It is always more painful, because despite all the shards of glasses, itās hard to hate the person behind the crime scene. Itās like yes, you massacred my heart, but every bit left of it still beats for you.
4. Love doesnāt end after a relationship does. It goes on. Sometimes itās as quiet as the lake that you might not even notice, other times, itās as loud as your alarm in the morning. Enough for you to feel it, but not enough for you to acknowledge it. You try to disregard it, but it doesnāt stop snoozing unless you finally stop turning a blind eye to its existence.
5. Pure love is rare. Lucky are the ones who have/had it. When it ends, it highlights the good scenes. Itās beautiful and sad that there was a day you carried it in your locket, but now you can only wish it well. Itās beautiful and sad to get used to seeing a person every day, and now you can only see him in poetries and photographs. But youāre happy thereās a point in time where you were his happiness, even if that happiness passed by and you see someone new getting ahold of it. And you see it being handled well, the way you wish you did when you had it resting on your hands."
