In response to this ask from misslillylilac and because I posted this fandom ask post.

favorite male character: Taichi Mashima. He just turns into this intelligent, compassionate, hardworking individual who doesn’t understand how brilliant he really is, and all he wanted to do is make Chihaya, the girl he’s been in love with since who knows when, happy, and somewhere down the line, he ends up remembering that this game, one of the few things that never came easily to him, means something to him as well. He’s not perfect, but he tries hard, and he is always there as the rock, the foundation for the team. I don’t know how anyone could ever hate him.

favorite female character: Probably the most cliche answer, but Chihaya Ayase. I knew I’d love her since the moment we met her, and she’s this gorgeous girl who doesn’t care about anything but this nerdy poetry SPORT that no one else cares about. Her passion for karuta, the way she finds people she thinks can love the game as much as she can, the way she’s oblivious and adorable and just so determined and focused, really inspires me. I love that she doesn’t care what people think about her. All she wants to do is prove that she can excel at something, something that really matters to her, and her commitment and determination make me want to hug her and cry. I want to see her beat Arata one day. I want to see her become Queen because that is the moment she accomplishes her dreams, and I really, really want that for her.

least favorite character: I will say right up front that I do not hate her, but the character that I have the least attachment to is Sumire. I like that she’s so different from Chihaya, and I do appreciate that she’s not a karuta-obsessed person falling in love with the game for the first time in a completely different way than Chihaya and Kana-chan, but I just… I’m probably biased, since I did start to like her in the later episodes, or at least like her more, but the way they introduced her, the way she dominated those early episodes in season two, really annoyed me. And I know I’m biased because I love Chihaya/Taichi (I’m not delusional enough to think Sumire can come between a ship that doesn’t even exist), but yeah, a lot of her scenes in the anime were frustrating. Until she stopped frustrating me. Yay character development.

favorite ship: Chihaya/Taichi. I like to think I’ll be okay if Chihaya falls in love with Arata (I don’t believe she’s in any romantic love at the moment, but you really can’t tell with that girl), but I just… It’s more than just Taichi being in love with her since they were kids. It’s more than the fact that she is the person he cares about the most. In fact, it has nothing to do with Taichi’s feelings at all. I love their dynamic. I know they’re animated, but their chemistry, the way they are together, the way they function as a unit for the Misuzawa team, the way they truly care about each other. I believe there’s some real love there, I really do. I’m hoping the anime/manga go in this direction…

favorite friendship: OT3 Chihaya/Arata/Taichi are a personal favorite, but I also adore the team Chihaya built, especially in the first season (Desktomu-kun, Nikuman-kun, Kana-chan, Taichi, and Chihaya), and then Arata and Taichi’s relationship (and how Arata means a lot to Taichi too, and isn’t just his romantic or athletic rival). All of the relationships in this show are just so well done. It’s one of the reasons why I adore it so much.

worst character death (if any): This isn’t that kind of show, lol.

saddest moment: I cried when Taichi tried so hard in the first season, really trained, and then still didn’t make Class A. It made the moment when he finally does in season two so much more beautiful. Arata’s story, especially because Arata/karuta was the original OTP of this show, made me really sad (even sadder than Chihaya was that one of the most influential people in her life wanted nothing to do with the game that made them friends anymore), and… basically any moment when they’re in a tournament and Chihaya is doing her best and kicking ass and taking names and then… still losing, really hurts. Particularly in season one, when she lost the match that could have helped her go on the road to the Queen match. But the sad times seriously make their victories all the more sweeter, and this is why this will always be one of my favorite animes of all time.

There are alot of flowers i recognize…..volume 2 really gave us a hard time, cause they are flowers that do not grow on the european continent…… Verso found them though……here is my list, but i still have some blanks. If anyone can help. I’ll post it here unfinished for anyone who is interested. One thing i understand is that Suetsugu san doesn’t pick her flowers randomly! volume 1: Dahlia: inner strenght, creativity, standing strong in your values. volume 27: clover for Chihaya: now this is tricky: 4 leaved Good luck/ 5 leaved: Bad luck……It is not only the Irish who believe that four-leaf clovers symbolize good luck. The Japanese do so, too and they call these verdant leaf yotsuba no kurōbā.

volume 28: hibiscus for the team:when a hibiscus blooms, it simply means that it has been a nice summer. Today one can therefore use the hibiscus to wish someone a nice summer.
