âOops! The boys roomâŠââš âł chihayafuru 2, episode 20
I like Taichi jealous.
âLet the wind blow away the bad thoughtsâŠâ đŹđ
did chihaya reject taichi? i read the chapter and all but i dont remember her ever rejecting him or anything..
(spoilers ahead)
Mashima Taichi is a selfless character and nothing you say will convince me otherwise.
Taichi is the most developed and realistically portrayed character in the series.
âIt hurts to love someone and not be loved in return. But what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.â
iâm crying ⊠taichi mashima isnât even in this chapter yet the mangaka keeps giving us fake-ish taichihaya moments . look how beautiful they all are, look how well chihaya and taichiâs faces go together . loOOK
that is just special
fandom | chihayafuru
In response to this ask from misslillylilac and because I posted this fandom ask post.
favorite male character: Taichi Mashima. He just turns into this intelligent, compassionate, hardworking individual who doesnât understand how brilliant he really is, and all he wanted to do is make Chihaya, the girl heâs been in love with since who knows when, happy, and somewhere down the line, he ends up remembering that this game, one of the few things that never came easily to him, means something to him as well. Heâs not perfect, but he tries hard, and he is always there as the rock, the foundation for the team. I donât know how anyone could ever hate him.
favorite female character: Probably the most cliche answer, but Chihaya Ayase. I knew Iâd love her since the moment we met her, and sheâs this gorgeous girl who doesnât care about anything but this nerdy poetry SPORT that no one else cares about. Her passion for karuta, the way she finds people she thinks can love the game as much as she can, the way sheâs oblivious and adorable and just so determined and focused, really inspires me. I love that she doesnât care what people think about her. All she wants to do is prove that she can excel at something, something that really matters to her, and her commitment and determination make me want to hug her and cry. I want to see her beat Arata one day. I want to see her become Queen because that is the moment she accomplishes her dreams, and I really, really want that for her.
least favorite character: I will say right up front that I do not hate her, but the character that I have the least attachment to is Sumire. I like that sheâs so different from Chihaya, and I do appreciate that sheâs not a karuta-obsessed person falling in love with the game for the first time in a completely different way than Chihaya and Kana-chan, but I just⊠Iâm probably biased, since I did start to like her in the later episodes, or at least like her more, but the way they introduced her, the way she dominated those early episodes in season two, really annoyed me. And I know Iâm biased because I love Chihaya/Taichi (Iâm not delusional enough to think Sumire can come between a ship that doesnât even exist), but yeah, a lot of her scenes in the anime were frustrating. Until she stopped frustrating me. Yay character development.
favorite ship: Chihaya/Taichi. I like to think Iâll be okay if Chihaya falls in love with Arata (I donât believe sheâs in any romantic love at the moment, but you really canât tell with that girl), but I just⊠Itâs more than just Taichi being in love with her since they were kids. Itâs more than the fact that she is the person he cares about the most. In fact, it has nothing to do with Taichiâs feelings at all. I love their dynamic. I know theyâre animated, but their chemistry, the way they are together, the way they function as a unit for the Misuzawa team, the way they truly care about each other. I believe thereâs some real love there, I really do. Iâm hoping the anime/manga go in this directionâŠ
favorite friendship: OT3 Chihaya/Arata/Taichi are a personal favorite, but I also adore the team Chihaya built, especially in the first season (Desktomu-kun, Nikuman-kun, Kana-chan, Taichi, and Chihaya), and then Arata and Taichiâs relationship (and how Arata means a lot to Taichi too, and isnât just his romantic or athletic rival). All of the relationships in this show are just so well done. Itâs one of the reasons why I adore it so much.
favorite quote:Â
- âChihaya, as long as you have a smile on your face, Karuta will be fun.â
- âLove is when it isnât fun to be with that person. Itâs when nothing goes the way you want. When youâre not having fun⊠And yet⊠you still want to be with her.â
- âI donât have any talent for karuta. Itâs tough, but I keep playing. I keep losing, but I still play. Because when I win, the thrill is indescribable!â
- âA part of me didnât want him here, but a part of me is celebrating.â
- âSensei, Iâm not so much focused on making Class A as Iâm focused on becoming someone who doesnât run away.â
worst character death (if any): This isnât that kind of show, lol.
saddest moment: I cried when Taichi tried so hard in the first season, really trained, and then still didnât make Class A. It made the moment when he finally does in season two so much more beautiful. Arataâs story, especially because Arata/karuta was the original OTP of this show, made me really sad (even sadder than Chihaya was that one of the most influential people in her life wanted nothing to do with the game that made them friends anymore), and⊠basically any moment when theyâre in a tournament and Chihaya is doing her best and kicking ass and taking names and then⊠still losing, really hurts. Particularly in season one, when she lost the match that could have helped her go on the road to the Queen match. But the sad times seriously make their victories all the more sweeter, and this is why this will always be one of my favorite animes of all time.
Chihaya, as long as you have a smile on your face, Karuta will be fun.
Diruhooe chan, i started a bit looking up the flowers with Verso kunâŠ..we put some of the meanings in the symbolism threadâŠâŠ..i never took time to finishâŠâŠ..
Here is the link of the thread where we started discussing the flowers: http://forums.mangafox.me/threads/482833-Symbolism-Interpretation-and-Breakdown/page10.

If anyone can help. Iâll post it here unfinished  for  anyone who is interested. One thing i understand is that Suetsugu san doesnât pick her flowers randomly! volume 1:  Dahlia: inner strenght, creativity, standing strong in your values. The Dahlia Flowerâs Message Is⊠Celebrate what makes you different. Seek out the new pleasures in life and keep moving through the challenges instead of letting them hold you back. volume 14: pumpkin, aubergine, and tomatoes for Nishida and Komano
volume 15: snowflowers/hanayuki for Taichi: quote: âYes, Japanese people do have special feelings about snowfall.
While in some prefectures with a cold climate, snowfall is not an uncommon event. But especially in Tokyo, it is quite rare to witness a snowfall. And the important part is that snowfall in urban areas of Japan melts very fast. This is, scientifically, because its snow flakes contain large amount of water.
So, people in Japan commonly knows that snowfall does not survive long. Note that ârare eventâ characteristic is not important for this feeling. It doesnât matter how often snowfall occurs in Japan. The important part is, that snow flakes, especially in Japan, melts very fast, and you canât do anything about it.
Snowfall makes us feel, sentimental, vulnerable love, sadness, weakness, or ending. This is similar to the emotional coldness you were talking in your question, but more special; it represents a sadness which you feel when you are experiencing a very hard problem and you yourself canât do anything about it. For example, the situation which you canât save your lover, or even your lover is going to die.â unquote.

volume 23: camelia for Sumire and Tsukuba & bros: In Love, Perishing with grace/The camellia flowerâs message is one of love and positive thoughts. Â
volume 24: Yellow tulipThe Tulip Flowerâs Message IsâŠâA tulip doesnât strive to impress anyone. It doesnât struggle to be different than a rose. It doesnât have to. It is different. And thereâs room in the garden for every flower.â:Â
volume 25: moonflowers/morning glory/Asago for Suou: Willful promises; The Morning Glory Flowerâs Message Tenacity and tenderness in all things, be gentle but strong in your endeavors with other people, animals and nature. Above all hold fast to your goals.
volume 26: spiderlilies for Taichi: here is a link which totally depressed me:  http://wordpress.tokyotimes.org/the-beauty-of-autumns-red-spider-lily-japans-flower-of-death/  And if that wasnât enough, another story is that red spider lilies bloom along the paths of departing lovers.   Companions who for one reason or another are destined to never meet again.  Never to meet again/Lost memory/Abandonment. Did Suetsugu san make it clear here?  This stabbed my heartâŠâŠâŠ..i wanna cry againâŠâŠâŠ..
volume 27: clover for Chihaya: now this is tricky: 4 leaved Good luck/ 5  leaved: Bad luckâŠâŠIt is not only the Irish who believe that four-leaf clovers symbolize good luck. The Japanese do so, too and they call these verdant leaf yotsuba no kurĆbÄ.
volume 28: hibiscus for the team:when a hibiscus blooms, it simply means that it has been a nice summer. Today one can therefore use the hibiscus to wish someone a nice summer. The Hibiscus Flowerâs Message is: Youth, fame and beauty are very much like hibiscus flowers, which have short lives. Although the flowers may die, they do grow back as long as their bush or tree is cared for. Enjoy beautiful moments while they last.
volume 29: red roses for Hyoro: Benibara: love/in love. Though the red rose has a long and storied history, it still reigns as the ultimate symbol of passionate affection.
