Still recovering from spooky season, but wow... it's been the best~

What started as a last-minute decision to throw together a Jinu cosplay for a local anime convention back in August has turned into one of the most joyful things I’ve ever done. Since then, I’ve shown up to a few more events, and every single one has been pure magic.

From belting out songs at theatre sing-alongs to showing up to work in full costume (because why not), it’s been an absolute blast.

People of all ages have come up to me — asking for photos, offering kind words, and having the sweetest conversations. And let’s talk about the fangirls. Oh, the fangirls~ They were amazing. I actually had to check in on a few, like, “A–are you alright, my dear?” because the excitement was real.

This movie deserves every bit of recognition it’s received — and so much more. The last time I saw something make this kind of impact was Crazy Rich Asians for adults and Turning Red for kids. But to see a film resonate so deeply with both — while continuing to honour Asian representation in such a meaningful and beautiful way — has been nothing short of incredible.

During a Reddit AMA about the movie, when a fan asked why the kiss scene between Rumi and Jinu was cut, Maggie (one of the directors) said: “The restraint is sexier.”

Many fans believe Maggie confirmed that Rumi is Jinu’s FIRST and LAST love in response to a fan’s comment.

Storyboard artist Alex Chiu for the movie revealed on Twitter that while working on the Rumi vs Jinu bathhouse fight scene, directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans specifically told them, the scene has to be "very steamy and hot."
