What do you think of Van?

–That’s a loaded question.

–“What do I think of Van? Well…” Sentences slowly come together in his head, thoughts mingling with one another so that he can gather his feelings.

–“That’s not an easy thing to answer, really. My first response would be that I feel betrayed. Finding out that one of the only father figures you ever had as a little kid created you only so that you could take the original’s place to die, and that he lied to you about who you are– grooming you to be a mere pawn in his plans? That’s… That’s kind of hard to swallow.”

–“But it’s not like I lost all respect for him. He was still my teacher and a prominent figure in my life. He lived for his ideals and died believing in them, and that I can respect in and of itself; even if it was to create a world of replicas.” A hand comes to scratch behind his neck. This is hard to explain.

–“I’m also angry with him for treating people the way he did. He manipulated Asch and me– he manipulated a lot of people, really– to be who he wanted us to be as we were growing up and that doesn’t sit well with me at all. I don’t like knowing that part of the reason I was so horrible was because of his influence. It makes me feel like– like my personality wasn’t really my own, I guess. But,”

–“I also loved him like I would have my own father. He was kind to me throughout those years stuck in the manor; something I feel really helped push back the feelings of neglect that I had towards my actual father. Van was always ‘Master Van’, but I can remember more than a few times I wanted to call him ‘Father.’” He shifts his weight onto one leg.

–“I can’t erase what he did and I can’t help feeling negatively about him for those things at times, but I don’t hate him if that’s what you wanted to know.”

A very lovely Tear Grants in her rp form with short hair and in FFXIV’s bard outfit (❁´▽`❁)*✲ﾟ* I actually finished this a while ago but kept forgetting to post it here oaihg BUT I’M STILL SO PROUD OF HOW THIS CAME OUT.  I absolutely looooove the bard outfit it’s my favorite (all that detail work mmm) and with Tear’s palette + the bard’s alt palette I JUST HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH IT.  I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to draw this aoerigh
