Ricky Gervais: Please throw yourself off a cliff if you enjoy the thought of hurting animals. I'm Ricky Gervais, and I approve of this message.
PETA: *swoons*
Vegans: So... are you vegan yet, Ricky?
Ricky Gervais: *long string of misogynistic, ablist slurs in a British accent* *spitefully eats fancy cheese*
an interesting thing: women constantly ask their friends if they have the right to be angry/upset/sad or if theyâre just being âcrazyâ and men donât ever do that, they were raised believing in their feelings and worth and never have to ask twice

someone tried to teach me to never say never
itâs so funny I never saw that one again
Iâm sure theyâre still somewhere deep down in the dirt in the back of my head
they just never call me, itâs not like theyâre dead
you can love someone and just not stay friends
wake one day and find theyâre faded away
and in the daytime I know Iâve faded plenty on my own
This was on her birthday 3 years ago....
Just had an extensive conversation with my Nanâ about her life this evening. Tales of her childhood growing up in Murton; vivid depictions of working class life in a mining village. From working as a single parent while my Grandad was in the army, living in various parts of Europe, to controversial yet hilarious conflicts with a custom officer in France & equally as controversial family reunions in Colchester. Not to mention Billy the trick-performing & anthropomorphic canary, who met his untimely demise under the weight of a human bumâŠ.
Itâs a peculiar sense of sadness that one can feel from just hearing the quiver in their voice, from emotions & memories that are suppressed in the name of âaccepting a deathâ; or the blatant fear of mortality in their eyes as they speak. I never believed someoneâs eye(s) can tell a thousand words till now. âIâm just living in the past a lot of the timeâ - the laughter omitted after she said that was peppered with an almost morbid level of sincerity itâs actually concerning. Maybe iâm just over-analysing things there, but I genuinely feel thereâs an almost underlying form of deep-rooted depression within her cheery, do-anything-for-anyone character. Not because of the life sheâs led (far from it I guess) but for the fact everyone she knew pretty much has either lost contact a long the way or have deceased. So much to soak in - so little time to contemplate it all.Â
To say I havenât walked away from tonight with a nagging feeling of helplessness would be an understatement, but for the most part itâs been an overwhelmingly dynamic & sentimental experience.Â
