Challenge: Street Photography

As photographers, we know that there are days when we're just not that inspired to go out and shoot; this can range from one day to a couple of years, unless you have someone or some people who pushes you to just go out there and find the inspiration outside. Probably one of the best things about being in a team is the fact that it's very challenging and compelling to belong to one, especially if your teammates are very active and productive.

So in light of that, Chill* decided to go out on a photo excursion in the depths of Manila. Josh and Kath started shooting the streets of Recto and met up with Marc who was in Hidalgo. (Sadly, Jear couldn't make it as he's a bit busy with some more important stuff) Marc then set up a challenge for the team, and the challenge was to do street photography along and around Escolta. The rules were simple: aside from cropping, no post-processing can be done to enhance the image. To make the challenge a bit more compelling, and to get a raw response from people, we decided to just show the photos and not tell who-shot-which, and limit the number of photos to 5 per person. yay!

The team agreed upon the challenge and below are the shots that they came up with, in random order:

So there you have it. We may not be the best in street photography, but we sure learned a lot, and of course, had a lot of fun doing this.

Experiment: What's Your Color?

Last March 9, we had the chance to do a funshoot/photowalk with Cherene around Escolta, Manila, We kinda have this unwritten routine every time we go out on photowalks/photoshoots—to just go out on and shoot, rest for a bit and assess the day, go home, do some post-processing, check if the other guys already published some of their shots, and finally upload the finished product.

While we were on our own homes post-processing our shots, Jear asked Josh's opinion regarding the color-treatment he did on one of his shots. Josh thought it was very nice and was intrigued as to how it'll look like if he applied his preferred color-treatment to the same photo. He asked Jear for the ungraded shot and applied his own color treatment to it. The style differences were very obvious. Intrigued by this, the two asked Marc to color grade the original shot as per his style and preference which resulted to the image above.

We liked how different the photo's overall feel and mood can change just by applying different color treatments to it, so we decided to make this a public experiment and asked some of our friends who are also into photography to give the shot their own treatment. They did not disappoint.
