About 6 years ago I was wondering about Mysore, India filmming a documentary about my journey into yoga and the conflicting philosophical beliefs and misconceptions about the subject. In my love of surfing and interest in yoga I found there was a surfing ashram on the coast by the town of Mulki, founded by a person known as the The Surfing Swami. I took a long bus ride with my partner and gear overnight, and we popped by unannounced. I was greeted with kindness and hospitality. After a surfing session with the locals I asked if Swami was around and if he could sit down for a filmed interview. To my surprise he said yes and we sat down for beutiful conversation that lasted a whole morning. We talked about #life, #spirit, #surfing, #yoga, #purpose, the universe and all. He was warm, articulate, passionate, inteligent, reflexive and inspiring. A loving and generous man who did great work for his community.
