Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton Interview Each Other
Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:
"It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones.
"There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
"If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the 'medicine closet' and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That's why you should always have a nutrition choice!
"Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity."
“Think not of the books you’ve bought as a ‘to be read’ pile. Instead, think of your bookcase as a wine cellar. You collect books to be read at the right time, the right place, and the right mood.”
—Luc van Donkersgoed
Life goals
Okay, since I actually posted something instead of just reblogging someone else's post with the same vibe I was going for - I just wanted to say something else.
LET'S GO TWINS!
Yes, I know they've lost the last couple of games, but I still love them, and we're not that far into the season. But I believe that they can do something great and prove a lot of people wrong. I just wish that Pablo wasn't hurt
I’ve never seen a single episode of the pitt but I do think that kind autistic woman should fuck the twitchy drug guy who has the eyes of an abandoned shelter dog
I know there's always going to be toxic fans out in every fandom, but holy fuck. I'm tired of this, and it feels like it's only getting worse. Frankly, it just makes it harder to be a fan of someone/something and want to interact with other fans.
Like, go outside and get some fresh air without a screen.
I do want to add that I know fandoms have never been perfect and never will be, but after seeing some posts come across my feed in the last 24 hours, I just needed to vent out in the open.
