Chiperoni is a kind of drizzle rain in the Shire Highlands. Nchenga or mchenga means “sand” in Chichewa. Shortly before I set up my new blog, I heard a TV talk show in Blantyre, where people were complaining about bad TV reception. One lady called the show to say “All I can see is nchenga nchenga”. i.e. it means something like “blurry image”… www.chiperoni.ch

Coffee shortage in Blantyre

During my recent visit to Blantyre, there was no local coffee in the shelves. I’ve never experienced a coffee shortage in Blantyre. There’s not one reason but multiple reasons. Addis ground staff is the best. Our flight was delayed due to bad weather in Chileka. We arrived at 23:45 and our connection was scheduled to leave at 0:05. In any other airport, we would have been alone and would have missed the flight. Addis ground staff did magic and we reached our connection. And even our suitcases arrived. Thank you.
