Last May, we were flown to Sydney to cover Vivid Sydney, an annual festival of light, art and music that welcomes Australian winter with a bang. Shortly after that, the unpredictable Aurora Australis started appearing all over the southeast coast of Australia (within driving distance from where we were living). Given that seeing Aurora has been a lifelong dream of ours, we monitored and chased the elusive beauty, climbing mountains and trekking coasts, battling unfriendly winter conditions.Â
