Peaceful Labour Demonstration Met with Violent Escalation by the Indonesian Government

Civilians in several cities in Indonesia have been protesting on the streets, in response to our House of Representatives insensitive and derogatory remarks amidst difficult economic climate.

It was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration led by laborers and university students, but our government choose to ignore and even violently escalating it with police brutality + shooting tear gas. What sparked a nationwide outrage was during 28 August protest in the evening, one of the armored police/soldier truck sped up intending to run over protestors and it struck over a Gojek driver (ride hailing driver, similar to Uber) that fell when crossing the road amidst the chaos. The truck did stop but decided to ram the gas and ran over him when he's trying to stand, with other protestors shouting for them to stop.

The Gojek driver's name is Affan Kurniawan. He's just 21 years old, the breadwinner of his family. He lived with seven other people in a cramped small rented room. He was not even participating in the demonstration, at the time of his death he was WORKING. He was trying to complete a food delivery order before he was killed.

This incident was documented clear as day with several videos from different povs. Here's the most prominent one.

In response to Affan's death, nationwide protests are held on the following day. (29 August)

The protests continued even today on 30th August and it keeps on escalating. The government is now trying to frame the protesters as violent anarchists, they're trying to use the same tactic as the '98 tragedy. They've been deploying provocators and intels to riot and burn public transport station, even going as far as raiding several (decoy) houses that belongs to members of the House of Representatives. They've also taken several hostages, reports of kidnapping as per 28 August is 400+.

They have been turning off electricity access in several parts of Jakarta and just greenlit snipers and soldiers to shoot protestors on the head with rubber bullets. There's already several victims.

They've also blocked access to TikTok live and even tried to erase/take down several of video proof of police brutality. Police are now sweeping several areas and civilians are alerting each other to be careful and to stay safe and not answer the door.

So yes. Please pray and check up on your friend that lives in Indonesia. I fear that there's going to be a military emergency implemented by our warcrime president. If possible please help save the video proofs because our government are cracking down to erase any proof of violence.

The fanartist in question is Avimedes, a Taiwanese fanartist who draws primarily for Undertale. On May 10th she posted on her Plurk (warning for images with blood, needles) that she was given cookies as a gift; she ate one and a needle pierced her tongue.

Here is a translation of her post:

I’m very sorry that I haven’t had a chance to say my thanks (for the convention?) and I am venting. But I received a needle in my dessert gift from the convention. Thank you, I have one more piercing now.

I am not trying to ask for comfort, I am only trying to tell everyone how serious is this matter, so do not comfort me.

This matter is unable to be investigated and hopeless to be investigated. This matter has made me lost of trust towards something, but from today onwards, I will not be accepting any more handmade food by others.

From discussion (Twitter, Reddit) it seems likely that she was given these cookies because she draws Sans/Frisk art, and a “fan” decided that drawing a ship they didn’t like was worthy of attempted murder. Had Avimedes swallowed the needle it could have done considerable and possibly irreparable internal damage.

So I will say this again: DO NOT HARM REAL PEOPLE OVER FICTIONAL ENTITIES. I don’t care what the content is. These purity crusades need to STOP. The amount of vitriol and anger that the anti-shipping circles not only accept but encourage is dangerous, unhealthy, and unless stopped will lead to more people being hurt. There’s already been at least one incident of an artist being harassed into a suicide attempt.

Your moral indignation/righteous anger/upset feelings DO NOT justify the injury or death of other people. You have every right to protect yourself from viewing objectionable content, but that right stops far, far short of hurting other people. Going on these crusades DOES NOT HELP against the sort of issues that are purportedly being championed; it only causes more harm. We need to break away from this mindset, from purity culture, before someone is permanently injured or dies.

Do you confirm that Spinel doesn't exist and PD never had Spinel in this AU? You can't just end this au with Steven solving all of his issues and he and the crystal gems become happy that they won't have to deal with drama anymore while Spinel is still stuck in the garden waiting for her best friend (PD/Rose) to come back.

Disclaimer: You, the asker, are not a bad person for asking this, nor do I feel personally offended by you sending me this, but let me make it absolutely clear:

This is not a healthy way to interact with media.

You make several assumptions here:

That Spinel is a real live person who is actually effected by real abandonment, as opposed to a character, which does not exist except in our creative consciousness.

That I, as an author of a separate AU, am capable of somehow 'preventing' further harm by writing stories about something happening or not happening.

That I have a moral obligation to write a specific storyline, in order for a character to not come to 'harm'.

And this all simply... does not work.

Holding authors - ANY authors - responsible for the safety and wellbeing of ANY characters is not a healthy way to approach creative fictional media.

Characters are not human beings, or creatures that exist. They are real to US, yes, and they matter and they are important. But harm cannot come to them as it can to real life people and animals.

Harm to Spinel, including the harm of being sad in a garden for 6000 years, does not actually exist. I need you guys to understand that.

Yes, it's an important character. Yes, it can make you sad, and it can cause you happiness to see that plotline resolved. I get that! I also feel happy and sad when certain characters achieve their goals, or fall short of them. Those emotions we experience ARE real.

But saying "you can't just end a story without giving this character a happy ending" means you value a character's safety and happiness (a character who ultimately cannot feel pain) above the needs and desires of me, a real life human person who may or may not be capable (time-constraints, physical capability, emotional bandwidth, you name it) to fulfill that need.

Ultimately, what you're saying when you demand ANY author writes the plot the way YOU want it to go is: "My feelings about this story trump your needs. I demand you go through the trouble of creating something so I can feel a certain way about it."

And that simply ain't gonna fly, my friend.

Only two characters use Aishiteru as the form of “I love you” in the manga; it’s also the most intense form of that expression, not a simple “I love you”: Itachi to Sasuke during his farewell; and Kushina to Naruto when Naruto went into his psyche to battle Kurama and purify its chakra.

That’s it. No one else. Aishiteru’s also the pinnacle of the Ai form of love (for romantic love, Koi is used, and Koishiteru is its peak; but from my knowledge, no character used it in the manga). Ai is roughly translated into selfless and giving love that transcends boundaries: it can be used for every relationship, even ideological love (Itachi, very obviously, secretly used it for Leaf with every breath). Koi is generally considered self-centered and selfish by comparison; hence, Ai is directed outwards; Koi, inwards.

This places Ai above Koi in regard to the implicature of the sacrificial giving versus the selfish wanting nature of both loves.

Kuso is basically means 'Shit' and you can use it for 'damn'. You can use it when you are losing or when something unpleasant happens. Kuso is a very versatile word. kuso is commonly used as a swear word+ or exclamation of frustration, comparable to “shit!”

You can say kuso in many ways like: くそ! (Kuso) /くそー! (Kusoo) / くっそー! (Kussoo) / くっそオー! (Kussoooo) = damn!

2. クソヤロー (kusoyarou) = fucking/stupid bastard; son of a bitch; shit guy

ヤロー means son of a bitch/bastard. It usually used towards men. Kusoyarou is a harsh word than bakayarou.

Other words used by Naruto in the panel:

このクソ (kono Kuso) = This shit / (you) piece of shit

うんこ (unko) means poop or shit. It consider a more childish way of saying " Poop".

'no yarou' uses after somebody's name. Name + no yarou. サスケのヤロー (Sasuke no yarou) = Sasuke, you bastard.

アロエヤロー (aroe + yarou = Aloe bastard)

バカヤロー (baka yarou) = Fucking/stupid bastard; son of a bitch; Idiot guy; dumbass

3. クソ喰らえ (kuso kurae) = fuck you! ; Eat shit!

クソ (kuso) means "shit". 食らえ (kurae) means "eat this!" or "take this!"

4. バカ (baka) & あほ (aho)

「バカ」「ばか」「馬鹿」 (baka) = stupid or Idiot. Baka is often written in katakana to emphasize the word. Katakana can be sometimes used like capital letters. Baka more common in the Kanto region eg: Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, chiba, Gunma etc.

「あぼ」「アホ」「阿保」 (aho) = stupid / idiot / silly. Aho is often written in katakana. The kanji one is the least common style. Aho is more common in the kansai region eg: Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Wakayama, Hyogo etc.

5. 子ども (Kodomo) = Child

People use kodomo to say 'you are a child' or 'childish'. You're still a child, huh?...Naruto!

6. カス (kasu) = (you) piece of shit/Scum

カスやろう (kasu-yarou) = scumbag; fucking/stupid bastard; son of a bitch

Kasu is harsher and worse than kuso (yarou) or bakka (yarou)

7. ガキ (Gaki) = Brat

このガキィ(Kono Gakī) = This/You brat!

Gaki refers to a child. It uses when a child is annoying or it uses as a negative sense to refer to someone who is childish. It is a bad/vulgar slang.

If you add kuso in Gaki :

Whenever you see someone being like "we don't mind when women enjoy or even create m/m content, we just hate fujoshis" you are being racist. If you mean "I hate the way some female fans treat gay men like fetish objects" then say that, and we can have a conversation based on that, but "fujoshi" is, I cannot stress this enough, just a word for any woman who likes M/M content, for better or worse. Same goes for the people I saw just the other day whose discord server explicitly disallowed "Yaoi" but said that M/M content was allowed. What they meant was "M/M content is allowed as long as it isn't pornographic and fetishistic." What they actually said was "M/M content is allowed, but M/M content is strictly forbidden," and expected you to understand that the Japan-Adjacent term has porn/fetish connotations while the English-language term for THE SAME THING refers to the "normal, non-perverted" version.

It'd be like if you used the word "cartoons" to refer to all Family-Friendly animation, regardless of style or country of origin, whether it's Japanese or American or French or whatever, and used the term "anime" to refer to all animated pornography regardless of style or country of origin. There's plenty of animated pornography that isn't Japanese! There's plenty of anime that's not pornographic! But this is the sort of thing you do when you say shit like "obviously women can read stories about gay men, but NO FUJOSHIS"
