Amidst all the roars, grunts, and groans from his fellow Cobras, Johnny couldnt help but smile as he watched Daniel's victories. Bit by bit, he saw the boy eliminate his rivaling teams, with not much but a few defenses and sheer luck. Johnny tried so hard to keep a straight face, but he simply could not. He allowed himself to forget the fact that he might need to fight Daniel if he caught up to his scores; for now, he'd celebrate his winnings.

'Excited to see me, huh..' Johnny thought, a sly grin growing on his face. There he was – Daniel Larusso – standing on the Golf n' Stuff lobby, looking around for a certain blond Californian wearing a predictable red jacket; Johnny thought he was embarassingly early for their date, but apparently he was beat. Daniel poked his head in all directions, barely masking his anticipation; if Johnny were to be honest, he would be in Daniel's position as of now, if he weren't to be here yet. But Daniel didn't need to know that 'The punk wouldn't live it down', he thought with a chuckle. It was a good thing he chose to come later; now, he would be the one to constantly tease him for this.
catching up
Johnny stared longingly as Daniel yapped away. He thinks he might be talking about his last encounter with Ali, but he couldn't care less of her; right now, all he wanted to see of, hear of, know of, is Daniel.

Daniel −albeit quite shy− readily accepted Johnny's offer, reciprocating the grin he gave him. johnny didn't care that his friends were doubtful of daniel's soccer abilities; he didn't ask him to join to win, he just needed an excuse to spend more time with the boy. 'hopefully,' johnny thought, 'i could tackle him down. in the name of sport, of course.."
