May 2003: Lisa Marie Presley becomes closer to Priscilla with a “newly healed, close mother-daughter bond”
“The Presley Women”: Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue (August, 2004)
lisa marie presley and michael jackson <3
March 29, 2005: Priscilla Presley shares her thoughts about Lisa Marie and Michael Jackson marriage on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”
O: Do you think [Lisa] was used?
P: I do. I think there’s something very calculating and manipulative about the way [Michael] does things. And I couldn’t help… I mean, there’s Graceland, there’s Neverland, you know. There’s a whole thread that goes into what he goes in his business.
O: King of Rock and Roll. King of Pop.
P: Exactly. I think it was something of that. Not that he didn’t care. But I just feel that there’s a whole other agenda going on.
O: When you say not that he didn’t care. Do you think he cared? Do you think he loved her as a wife?
P: I want to believe he did, I do. Because I would hate to believe it was only for one thing, whenever it be to maintain his popularity, or to be associated somehow to her, her father. I really don’t want to go, go there with that. But I… […] It’s just hard for me to believe that, you know, that people do that. I mean, she’s really lovable!
“I didn’t believe he loved her.”
— Priscila Beaulieu Presley; from “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis” (2025)
March, 2005: “VH1 documentary special Lisa Marie Presley: Inside Out” (aired on July 6). Lisa refuses to talk about Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage. Praises her new boyfriend Michael Lockwood
Can I ask you about Michael Jackson?
LMP: I’m not going to answer, though.
[…] Well, can I ask you, though, I mean, you… by what’s going on now, in particular, do you feel sorry for him? Do you have any kind of feeling for him, at all, when you see he’s on trial? What he’s going through right now?
LMP: Again, any comment I make gets blown up too much out of proportion. So I can’t comment. I won’t comment, more than can’t.
So that’s it?
LMP: That’s it.
No more discussion about Michael Jackson?
LMP: No more discussion about him.
Ok. Nicolas Cage?
LMP: Again…
She wouldn’t answer that question either.
LMP: [Lockwood and I] always had the work relationship there [since 2003]. We are together, I swear to God, 24/7. We literally exercise together, eat together, work together, you know, everything together.
PD: One of the nicest things about [Lockwood], [and] about their relationship is that he has no problem whatsoever with Danny [Keough], who’s the father of her kids [and her bass player, and has a new girlfriend].
LMP: Danny and me, we’re like in a eternal, unconditional brother and sister. That’s basically what we are. And [Lockwood] is the only, you know, he really understands that and is not insecure about it in any way. […] We are best friends, and Michael [Lockwood] and him are really tight, too, oddly enough.
April 5, 2005: Lisa Marie Presley second album “Now What” is released
“Definitely, when I've gone through something, l've written songs that have got me through. I purge by writing; it's a puke thing. I'm addressing things other than butterflies and dandelions.”
— Lisa Marie Presley Toronto Sun Interview (April 1, 2005) (via mjfa.forum)
“I think you can go to the necessary place to purge something that’s on your mind. […] this is what I felt about the subject at the time. I’m trying to capsulize it and make it universal for other people.”
— Lisa Marie Presley Pop Entertainment Interview (April 18, 2005)
“You have to sort of get a protective skin outside, even if it's not real," she says. "I think that was a survival mechanism [for me]. […] She says this CD provides a chance to define herself to the world. "When I put the record out I realized how much was there prior to me introducing myself and coming out in public and talking. I was like, 'You have no idea who I am.' I'm introducing myself to you for the first time and you have all of these pre-conceived [ideas] of me.”
— Lisa Marie Presley Oprah Interview (March 29, 2005)
Songs speculated to be about Michael Jackson (they are): “Turbulence”, “Turned to Black”; “Yellow to Blue”; Now What”.
“I’ll Figure It Out”, “Shine” and “High Enough” are about herself. “Dirty Laundry” is a cover, about the sensationalism, invasive nature, and cruelty of the media. “Thankx” is dedicated to her friends and loved ones who helped her through dark times. “Raven” is to her mother Priscilla. According to Riley Keough in “From Here to the Great Unknown”, “When You Go” is about herself and Danny (and Lisa’s fear and anxiety of losing them to their inner demons; Riley went through a rebellious phase in her teens). The target of Lisa’s meaniest song ever “Idiot” remains unknown.
