This movie is GORGEOUS. Here is the poster I illustrated of my favorite moments!
The "Norman Osborn was a good father before he went Green" apologism agenda is so fucking funny. He was always an asshole.
lol those people hate Miguel so much that they would rather ship Sam with creepy Axel.
That's not the point! Please, get off the internet and touch grass!
It's very interesting how such a brief dark turn to the Cobra Kai teachings could still be something so significant. As they say, less is more.
Thank you! Thank you! Like he said, the best time for him to continue his dark path would have been in Season 2, but they blew that chance.
Y'all are forgetting one character might steer Miguel away from this path. Yes, Miguel did have that darkness in him and it should have been utilized better. However, as long as Johnny was in his life, Miguel was never going to go further down the rabbit hole.
Edit: The best time for him to grow darker would have been in Season 3 but not under Kreese and Silver's wing because Kreese wouldn't help him knowing that he is paralyzed. Who knows maybe we could have seen Dark Miguel vs Dark Robby.
yeah absolutely I think s3 would be ideal for a dark arc tbh, but I do think it was be one where he learns to walk and fight again under kreese. kreese did express a mild interest in Miguel at some point I believe, but I feel like more than Miguel's ability as a fighter, it would be about how important Miguel is to Johnny. kreese was after revenge, and Miguel would've been a good way to hurt Johnny, just like robby was. I do think that kreese would eventually go after robby to collect him, which would drive Miguel away, effectively "ending" his dark ark.
HOWEVER Miguel could also have an s2 dark arc, but not over just sam cuz the romance aspect isn't really at the center of the show. it would probably be centered around Johnny and robby imo, somewhere in the lines of "oh Johnny has a son now and it's robby of all people and OH thats why he wants to talk about no mercy now, its cuz we did no mercy against his son and he didn't like that, well FUCK that" sort of scenario. which would drive him (and Eli too probably) to kreese somewhat. but he'd probably be conflicted about it, and would choose Johnny over kreese during the school fight he'd choose to walk away and not break robby's arm (which me and other have talked about before, particularly @choghetti ). maybe this could lead into an s3 dark arc too, but it could go either way.

Robby fans' favorite word they use in the subreddit: Gaslighting.
Okay, here's a second version of my rewrite of Miguel's storyline from Seasons 2 to 5, starting with Season 2. This is going to be a long ass rewrite, so be warned.
Miguel throughout Season 2 didn't have much to do when he should have. His arc was being in a love square, so he didn't do anything about Hawk and Demetri falling out. He also got influenced way too easily by Johnny, Tory, and Kreese by just some conversations. Also, his regret towards his relationship towards Sam ending is confusing. In the beginning, he said he blew it with her. But then at the roller rink, he felt justified in his behavior because his views about Sam and Robby's relationship are reinforced when he finds out that they were dating. This is what I meant when I say they don't go into his emotional POV enough.
I believe his Season 2 arc should have shown him actually struggling between the old Cobra Kai philosophy and the new Cobra Kai philosophy Johnny is trying to teach him.
Edit: Edited out some parts I didn't feel fit well with.
Here it goes:
After Miguel finds out Sam blocked him from Instagram, he is still in his late Season 1 mindset, but that will go away as the season progresses. He is still angry and hateful towards Robby. Aisha wants him to move on from Sam, but Miguel refuses to listen to her.
Miguel still questions the new lesson Johnny made for him even when he tried to give him advice in the office. At one point, he taught him and his classmates to win by any means necessary. The next minute, he got on their asses for doing what he taught them to do. This leads Miguel to question his sensei. He wonders why he would want them to take pity on Robby.
Instead of pining over Sam, he tries to get back together with her without acknowledging his actions. He calls her using Aisha's phone.
He even tries to buy her necklaces thinking it will win her back. Of course, Sam puts her foot down and makes it clear she doesn't want anything to do with him, leaving him frustrated.
We could see that Miguel desires to have a father of his own. Like have a scene where he sees a kid having fun with his dad and gets envious and sad after he found out the truth about Robby.
After finding out the history between Johnny and Robby, Miguel starts to understand why Robby would reject Johnny and get close with the LaRussos. He doesn't pick fights with Robby for Johnny’s sake, knowing that any further conflict with Robby would hurt Johnny. For Johnny's sake, he reluctantly chooses to move on from Sam, but his jealousy of Robby and Sam's relationship and hatred for the former lingers on throughout the season. He hooks up with Tory as a rebound like in canon.
After strengthening his relationship with Johnny, Miguel begins to question if he ever deserved the champion title.
I wouldn't have Johnny call Miguel a champ because it is inconsistent to what Johnny tried to remind him at the beginning in Season 2.
However, he notices something off about Hawk as he mocks Demetri for being weak and later tries to beat him up over a Yelp review. He tries to talk to Hawk about it several times but Hawk rebuffs it and says Demetri is a pussy and later joined the enemy and reminds Miguel of the no mercy mantra. This makes Miguel question if he should continue embracing the outdated philosophy, but figures that he could still keep being merciless in real life fights. That is until Johnny asks him if he wants to live his life that way.
He still doesn't trust Kreese, but embraces the idea of finishing opponents off in real life while not attacking their injuries or hitting them when their backs are turned. He is doing this because he wants to win Sam back and is prepared to destroy anyone who gets in the way. (Like when he shows no mercy to Hawk after finding out he stole the medal of honor).
Miguel goes over to Hawk and talks about Coyote Creek. Miguel reveals that he didn’t tell Robby that Hawk trashed Miyagi-Do but he wants to help him. But Hawk still holds an ill will believing that he and Johnny are the same, saying that they only advocating mercy when it suits them.
Miguel doesn't know what to do with his best friend due to his conflicting feelings about Johnny's and Kreese's lessons.
The roller rink scene is cut out because it is pointless and petty asf.
Sam could still see the octopus and have nostalgia for the Miguel she once knew because she still has feelings for the guy.
When Miguel is at Moon’s party, he sees Sam and Robby but he greets them nicely like he did at the roller rink. However, we can see that he is angry deep down because they are dating.
Miguel talks to Demetri about everything that happened with Hawk and Demetri advises him to do what is right, not by what other people tell you to do.
Because Miguel knows how much Johnny regrets not being there for Robby and feels bad about cheating on Tory, he doesn’t taunt Robby about Johnny and he doesn't say, "She doesn't love you! She loves me!" (lame line btw).
When he pins Robby down, he remembers all of the horrible things he did. He realizes that he was going down the wrong path and Johnny has been trying to warn him about it. Despite resenting Robby, he lets go of his arm and apologizes for everything, but it is too late and the rest proceeds the same way.
I think Miguel should have had more screentime in Season 2. I get that his relationship with Sam failed at the end of Season 1 and he won the tournament in a dirty way, but he has other stuff to work on, like his two friends are Demetri and Hawk and he isn't shown reacting to their relationship changing for the worse, and he should have had more to work with after finding out about the history between Johnny and Robby. Here, he can reflect on his behavior at the tournament and still have the edge he had at the end of Season 1, but reflect on what he could do differently. I think they could have given him much more to do instead of sidelining him during that season. Feel free to share your opinions on how you would have rewritten or just been cool with how they wrote Miguel in Season 2. More will come for Miguel later.

Why does Miguel's arc in Season 1 remind me so much of Gomer Pyle's story in Full Metal Jacket?
i fucking hate the cobra kai fandom so much it's not even funny. tf you mean some people are siding with martin kove right now?
