A TV movie called Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le is set to air next week on Lifetime, but Dr. Dre is reportedly attempting to have it shut down. According to TMZ, Dre sent a cease and desist letter to Sony Pictures, contesting the filmâs depiction of him as an abusive boyfriend, and threatening a lawsuit if the film airs as-is.
The film follows Dreâs relationship with R&B singer Michelâle, and TMZ suggests that the movie will show Dreâs character physically assaulting her by pulling her hair, striking her in the face, and pulling a gun on her. The trailer features a scene where Dre grabs Michel'le by the throat in the studio.
Dreâs letter claims that the rapper was never abusive in their relationship, he also chooses to point out that Michelâle did not file a police report or seek medical attention for the alleged abuse. His attorneys have also warned Michelâle to âback off.â
This is not the first time Michelâle has accused Dre of abuse. She told VladTv in 2015 that she was âthe quiet girlfriend who got beat up.â She is also not the only woman to call Dr. Dre out for physical abuse. Former Pump It Up host Dee Barnes wrote a letter in response to her assault at the hands of Dre being excluded from N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Dre later apologized to the women heâs âhurtâ in the past. Barnes shared another letter in response to his apology. Michelâle was also excluded from the N.W.A. film.

Dre physically abused Michelâle, Dee Barnes, Tairrie B and a number of other of women. This is public knowledge that has been talked about for years, but has never put a dent in his career. Dre cracked Michelâleâs ribs, broke her nose twice (which she had to get surgically corrected twice), shot at her, and blacked her eyes among other things. Need we revisit her past interviews for further details? Wendy: âAnd you stayed?â
Michelâle: âI stayed because my father had never told me he loved me until just the last three years when my mom died, so I think I had to go back and figure that out. Itâs in my book but I think that had a lot to do with that. Getting beat was love to me. Believe it or not when I got with Suge he really didnât beat me. I asked him, âWhy arenât you beating me? You donât like me?â I asked him that.â
Wendy: âBy saying Suge didnât beat you, the finger is pointing at you Dr. DreâŠâ
Michelâle: âHe knows it. It was very public so that wasnât a secret. I did five videos and we had to cover three black eyes. It seemed like the day before the video, I would get a black eye and had to cover it. But it was okay because I loved him. I truly, truly, truly thought he loved me. I didnât take it as anything bad, nor did I grow up seeing it in my household. I finally realized that that wasnât good, and believe it or not the person who helped me see that was Suge, he helped me see that it wasnât a normal thing. He tried to do that one time to me but I fought back. [âŠ] I know it sounds really crazy but it was my life. I can truly say that a lot of things that happened in my life, saved my life. Everything Iâm going through saved my life.âÂ

Michelâle: âI stayed because it was normal, after the first hit you donât think theyâre going to do it again. I didnât call the police because I didnât want him to go to jail, because the men where I came from were going to jail for years. I didnât think that was a good idea. I just took it as a way of him showing me he loved me. [âŠ] [If Dre tries to sue over this biopic] please take me because you have to do depositions and thatâs when you have to tell the truth.â
For years, Dre never debunked anything Michelâle has ever said about him because itâs fact and he knew it wouldnât affect his brand since she was on smaller platforms like that reality show, R&B Divas: LA. While on that show, viewers were so inspired by her sweet, strong, and bubbly personality that they wanted her to write pen a memoir. She upped that by creating her biopic to answer everybodyâs questions.Â
This woman is a fucking survivor. Revealing and revisiting all her past demons that sheâs kept bottled up almost got the best of her while on that show, in which it made her feel like she was an unfit parent and she even attempted suicide.Â
Sheâs had a fucked up childhood, she never spoke until age 4 or 5, her vocal cords never fully developed (which is why her voice sounds that way when she speaks but not when she sings), she battles depression and anxietyâŠ.Sheâs been through it all.Â
Now all of a sudden because her biopic is getting a lot of recognition and Dre, as well as Suge, plays an integral part in her storyâŠitâs a problem. Dre doesnât like that sheâs become an open book, so he wants to silence her like the scum he is. How shockingâŠ
