my biggest word of advice to anyone scared to post their work/ocs/involve themselves in creative spaces online is to earnestly get interested in other people. be kind to others, like/reblog their work, tell them what you like about their work, get to know them as people.
this isnโt to โweaselโ your way into anything or having ulterior motives or whatever. if you become friends with someone then thatโs great! but thereโs always something very personal about posting any kind of creative work. weโre all trying our best to connect with each other and the best way to get comfortable is to get to know others and show up as yourself. ๐ซถ๐พ
sometimes when i feel like i'm getting too deep in the rpf trenches i stop and ask myself "would you be ok with this if people shipped UK prime ministers?" but it doesn't work because that would be absolutely fucking hilarious and i now encourage more prime minister rpf
Originally, I went in worried the opposite would happen. Growing up, I've been taught that Nigeria, the country, is homophobic. (I was born in America.) But over time, I learned that there's tons of other queer Nigerians; some are out, and some are in the closet ๐ญ.
