Fantastic weekend in Hong Kong! The hiking here is great, got a chance to hike up Lion Rock, only a 500m climb but it was stairs straight uphill. The view was worth it though. Click the panorama photograph for a better view. Going to go for another hike next weekend, and probably bring some more water next time!
Got back from Cambodia a few days ago, fantastic place! Good for a short two or three day trip. Sorry for the lack of posts, had food poisoning the past couple of days, but I’m feeling a lot better now. I’ll be in Bangkok for a bit longer, then Hong Kong and then back to the USA!
Vietnam is such a beautiful country, can’t wait to go back.

Meetings in Yixing are over, on to Thailand! My time in China was great, looking forward to getting there again.
Sorry for the lack of activity recently, but here are a few photos from my trip to Hunan. The factories were huge, one with 6,000+ people. Next week some travel and meetings, and then I leave China for Thailand!
Back from Jingdezhen, a town centered around its ceramic industry, specifically the production of porcelain. Beyond the large scale production, there’s also a focus on students and artisan products - some upwards of $40,000. Even their liquor comes in beautifully crafted pieces, as you can see above.
Went to Hong Kong for the weekend. Fantastic city, looking forwards to getting to spend more time there come August!
Wanted to do a small post about a restaurant I went to in Dehua. It was right next to the entrance to Dehua Forest. We had to climb three flights of stairs to get there, and it was just some guy and his wife with a grill. Pretty good barbecue though, everything from corn to chicken, tofu and even squid. Also had a fantastic view!
Just got back from Dehua. People told me it would be like the countryside, but for China that’s nearly half a million people. Steeped in centuries of ceramic tradition, Dehua focuses on artisan products, often handmade flowers that looked like they could have taken months to make. I also ate a snapping turtle foot.
In Dehua, been busy. Expect a post coming soon. But for now here’s a picture from when I went to the mall last weekend, absolute chaos.
Just got back from a 4 day trip in Chaozhou. For a city of 3 million people, it’s amazing how compact everything is, especially considering the fact that you can drive 15 minutes, be in a rural village next to a rice field and go fishing for dinner. Headed out to Dehua in Fujian next week for more factory visits!
Hiked up Lotus Mountain for my birthday, fantastic view and a great day. Leaving tomorrow for Chaozhou, so i may be inactive for a bit.
Went to Chang’an Park today. Not blazing hot for once, which was nice. Going hiking tomorrow, so that’ll be fun.
The past few days have been super busy - prepping and conducting meetings with visitors. I also had the chance to get my first factory tour, the first of likely dozens.
Today was a busy day, I went and played some basketball in a 110 degree gym in a super sketchy alley. There was a workshop with a guard dog and everything. Bonus picture of the complex. The real work begins tomorrow though, and traveling next week!
