red

red was once my favorute color

i loved red more than anything else in the world

it made me feel confident, like i could do anything i put my mind to

but most importantly, red was who i was as a person

until one day, somebody took red away from me

taking what once was mine and dangling it in my face like a toy

laughing about who i was and suddenly, i was unsure

my color faded from me for years, i turned black and gray

until, i found green. a fresh start, a new beginning

i hated green for a while, but now it was the color that made me smile

red will always stay in me, only as a more mutable tone

a shade known as the color pink

never in my life

never in my life have i experienced love

a love where i was respected and accepted for who i was

through trail and error, i learned the good and the bad

but it made me crave more for what i didn’t have

when i first fell in love, my world changed

but suddenly, the plot got rearranged

me who was not used to being loved

was swarmed by guys who were a tier above

guys that respected me, accepted me, and wanted to be with me

guys that loved me for me

i was so used to fitting the mold of guys

that when i first heard those words, i started to cry

i shouldn’t but i did

you and i met in the strangest way at the most strangest time

as time passed, you entered your way into my life

it was strange, seeing how the two of us were both polar opposites but shared a heartbreaking past

you fell first before me knowing

i never saw what i was worth, but you saw everything

how my presence made you calm and my laugh made you smile

before i knew it, i was attached to your side

there was a spark, however i couldn’t let it be seen

you told me not to fall, but i did

i ended up falling real hard

even at my most vulnerable parts, you didn’t take advantage of them

which was a first for me

i see you from afar, but i know that i can’t have what we had again

i respected your wishes, but you’re the missing part that i need

because when i fell, i shouldn’t have but i did

never ever let one bad moment ruin a perfectly fine day. remember the good that came out of today instead of focusing on the bad.
