Sims 3 Bridgerton Challenge
Introduction:
You hail from a shockingly prolific family, known for its perfectly handsome sons and perfectly beautiful daughters.
This is a challenge for Sims 3 players that love a good romance, especially if there’s a dash of chaos. Just a dash of course. If you would like to set this challenge in the regency era or use the regency aesthetic, go for it, but it’s not necessary to play this challenge.
This challenge has two options for how it can be played:
Legacy: At the end of every season, the couple must have a child to carry on as heir for the following season. Basically, play it how you would any legacy challenge, with little overlap between generations.
1 Generation: All eight main characters are siblings, like in canon. This involves a lot of overlap and long term planning to make the narrative cohesive. This is how the challenge was intended to be played. However, this may require longer life spans, multiple save files, entire “seasons” being played in saves where multiple family members are missing, etc. Basically, it may take more effort to make everything work so that your game doesn’t completely collapse.
Set Up
Because the 1 Gen option is what I envisioned when I created this challenge, I will be using slightly different terminology than what us simmers are used to. Instead of “generations” we will have “seasons” and instead of “heirs” they will be called “leads.” However, I will be writing each set of rules in a way that can still be used if you wanted to play this as a legacy challenge.
Each season takes place over the course of one sim year. So you have four sim weeks to complete each love story.
Money cheats are allowed. This is a family of one percenters after all. Go crazy.
If you are playing the 1 Gen option, you have the option to play as their parents and raise all eight siblings from birth to adulthood.
The gender of each lead is completely up to the player. You may want to skip to the love stories and make the main family in CAS or you can go through eight pregnancies and assign each season to whoever has the corresponding birth order.
Preferably there should still be four sons and four daughters.
Have fun. Every rule is flexible. If there’s something you don’t want to do or an idea that you think would work better, go for it
If you wanna play this as a legacy instead, you can just jump into it.
Season One - The Diamond
Beautiful and charismatic, it seems you were made for a life in the limelight. And now that you’re freshly out of school? You have the world at your fingertips. Of course, it’s not always easy when you’ve got an overprotective older sibling who seems determined to keep you in the bubble of childhood—or at least make the transition to adulthood as frustrating as possible. Everything changes when you bump into an attractive but aloof stranger at a party… only to discover they’re your sibling’s best friend from college.
You must have at least one older sibling.
The season starts when you finish school, whether that’s high school or uni.
Big sib must have a friend from college visiting around this time.
If you have University, you may play with that older sibling in college and establish their relationship, but this is optional.
Fake date—You want people to see you as more than just a younger sibling, and they want people to stop asking about their love life.
Go on five dates in public without becoming romantic interests. “Break up” and try to move on with someone of an even higher rank.
Finally kiss your real love… starting a public fight with your older sibling.
Though it was a long and difficult road, you are now together with the love of your life and have moved in together. It’s wonderful… until you two get carried away and risky woohoo.
Argue and sleep in different parts of the house for a few days.
Make up and either Try for Baby or make up right before the baby is born (depending on success of that risky woohoo.
Season Two - The Heir
The eldest child of two lovers hopelessly enchanted with one another, you couldn’t help but focus on the ‘hopeless’ part of that love. Responsible, stubborn, and occasionally quick to anger, you are determined that love will have no place in your future marriage. A PR relationship with an up and coming starlet seems like the perfect opportunity to add even more shine to your family’s already bright name. Too bad your future spouse has an older sibling who doesn’t quite think you’re made of the right stuff…
Be the first born child.
Work in the same career as one of your parents.
Enter a PR relationship with the new it girl/boy in town—any displays of affection must be in public or in front of paparazzi.
Have several arguments with the older sibling of your new arm candy, resulting in a dislike relationship.
Just as you begin to understand each other, you share an intimate moment, which of course spurs you into proposing to their younger sibling in front of your entire family.
The wedding is a complete disaster ending in you breaking up. Only then do you finally have a Heat of the Moment Kiss with the one you truly love.
After your first woohoo, your love interest has a near death accident (maybe a close call with fire or they freeze from being outside and need to be thawed out).
Nearly losing your beloved has made you realize that you can’t run from love anymore. You tell them you want to be together!
Season Three - The Writer
Sweet, sensitive, and a bit oblivious to the world around you, people tend to see you as a bit silly. It’s not your fault you know how to go after the things you want! Too bad you don’t always know what it is you want. But you’re figuring it out, even if you have to look on the other side of the world. You’re charming, at least, so you can cover up everything that makes you strange. There’s one person you never had to pretend with though; your best friend, who also happens to be the best friend of one of your siblings. But one year, you come home from another vacation to find your friendship is different. Your friend is different. And now you have to wonder if friendship is what you really want with them.
Have at least one younger sibling.
When you’re a child, you meet your new neighbors, who have a kid not much younger than you. Hit it off and become fast friends. Because they also become best friends with your little sibling, you start to feel a bit of distance. It never occurs to you that they might be hiding feelings for you.
Best friend must be in Journalism Career
Once you age into a YA, start traveling. Visit at least two WA destinations, assuming you have that EP.
If you are playing 1 Gen, these trips can happen after the previous two seasons have wrapped up.
Run a blog where you talk about your travels and post pictures.
You come home to find your childhood friend is acting distant. Confess your feelings only after your friend has entered a serious relationship (It’s fine that you’re breaking them up! They were mostly together for looks anyways.)
Propose right then and there. You are not wasting any time.
Have a big wedding where something goes wrong in some way (maybe an unexpected guest for example).
Join Writer Career.
Season Four - The Fairytale
You were never one to settle down. Attending this costume party was more of an obligation than anything else. You would much rather be out getting drinks at the club or flirting with someone whose name you won’t remember in the morning. But then you see them. A masked beauty who makes your heart skip a beat. After a magical night, you feel like you’re floating on air. If only your mystery match would let you sneak a peak at what’s behind that mask! Right when you ask for a name, they run away, leaving you with too many questions and one broken heart.
OPTIONAL - Go to art school as a teen but leave before finishing.
Be a self-employed artist (though let’s be honest, you’re living off your parent’s money) as a YA but quit.
Attend a costume party. Have the charisma skill and give a Charming Introduction to a stranger whose face is not visible in their costume.
Meet the stranger again, this time in civilian clothing that makes them near unrecognizable.
Offer them a job working for your family. They will move in with you and clean around the mansion.
Realize they are the mystery flame you met at the costume party and get into a big argument.
Your love interest is sent to jail. Visit the police station with your mother.
Propose to your love interest as soon as they are released.
Season Five - The Activist
You always found life as a rich kid rather dull. You’re ready to spread your wings and fly. True, everyone in your family seems rather obsessed with marriage, but you know there must be more to life. Maybe you’re a tad headstrong but there’s nothing wrong with being opinionated. Still, when you unexpectedly find yourself with a new pen pal relationship, you’re more than a little curious about the mind behind such intelligent words. But falling in love on paper and falling in love face-to-face are two very different things.
Be a part of the Rebel social group and own a megaphone. Start at least one protest.
Meet your love interest through the web. Communicate through love letters, texting, and chatting on the computer/phone.
Love interest must be a gardener.
Once you are friends, show up to their house unannounced. Of course, this may result in an awkward first impression…
The orphaned niece and nephew of your love interest pull pranks on you. You like their spirit. Befriend them.
Your family comes to visit you and a fight breaks out.
Have an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony among your partner’s garden.
Join the Political career.
Season Six - The Musician
Growing up around so much noise, you found it easier to fade into the background, where you might find a moment of quiet. That is, except when you’re in front of a piano. As a skilled musician, no one doubts that you’re another sparkler in a family full of them, whether you want the limelight or not. Then you meet them. Your twin flame. Someone else who prefers the simpler approach to things. You two don’t see a point in drawing it out, and get married soon after meeting. Life is good, just you and your love. And your spouse’s cousin, obviously.
Meet your spouse shortly after becoming a YA.
Have an intimate wedding where only family is invited. This is the first time you meet your partner’s cousin.
Master the Piano skill and join the Music career.
Never have children with your spouse.
Be best friends with their cousin at the time of your spouse’s death.
Separate from the cousin for some time. This can involve playing as the cousin and going to a WA destination.
Argue upon return. How could they leave you when you needed them most?
Rebuild your friendship… and quickly realize that it’s a little more than friendship. This of course leads to more strife between you as the guilt keeps you from fully embracing your feelings.
Eventually settle into a steady relationship. Visit your late spouse at the graveyard. They follow you leading to a marriage proposal.
Season Seven - The Detective
Free-spirited and more than a little wild, you’ve always been a little ‘too much.’ You need someone who can keep up because heaven knows you’re not one to slow down. The life of an investigator isn’t quite what people expected of you, but every great detective needs a partner. Engagement is a big step but you look at it like an adventure. So long as family tensions don’t get in the way.
Join Investigator Career. It may be an unconventional path for someone of your upbringing but you’ve always marched to the beat of your own drum.
Fall in love with a fellow investigator.
Be best friends with your love interest’s grandmother.
Get together and eventually get engaged in their grandma’s house.
Stake out your future father-in-law’s house.
Witness your fiancée having an argument with their father.
Argue with your fiancee over their motivations for wanting to be with you but make up.
Reach Level 5 of the Investigator career before finally getting married.
Season Eight - The Lover
In a family where love prevails over all, the last thing you want is to be different. Love is the greatest thing in the world and you know it’s only a matter of time before Cupid turns his arrow on you. When you fall in love at first sight, you know it’s your turn for a whirlwind romance. Finding the love of your life might have been easy, but actually starting a romantic relationship is going to be harder than expected. You’ll need help, and who knows better than the best friend of the one you desire?
Move in with your sibling and in-law, who is already housing a pair of close friends. Become determined to be with one of them.
Befriend the other friend, who is already engaged.
Group up with these two several times.
Lose your first choice to the brother of your engaged friend.
Become best friends with your engaged friend, who cheats on their fiancée for you. (It’s fine, it was an arranged marriage, and they swing the other way anyways.)
Disrupt their wedding, only for them to go through with the marriage.
Fight your love interest’s uncle.
Your love interest leaves their partner to be with you.
