What is a Chiari Malformation?
Chiari Malformation Type I is a neurological disorder where part of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull into the spinal area. This puts pressure on of parts of the brain and spinal cord, and can prevent the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.
So basically, my brain is to big for my skull and it’s falling out… Or something like that ;)
Funny story, when my neurologist explained this to me he (jokingly) said: “it’s not that your brain is unusually large, your skull is just unusually small”
Bedside manner can really make all the difference. He was an excellent doctor.
