“His gentleness was uncompromising; because he would not compete for dominance, he was indomitable.”
— Ursula K Le Guin, the Dispossessed
a deep sigh escaped him as he sat down at soif’s bar. if there was no escaping the buzz of such bad news and the horrible knowledge that some of his students were related to the victims, then maybe there was briefly covering it all up in a fog of spirits. when the ordered combination of a pint of beer and a shot was set in front of him, chris held up the smaller glass and made eye contact with the nearest person to him. “to chillin’ out,” he said half-heartedly before downing the tequila. he then called the bartender over and as they made their way to him, christian looked back the person he had made the toast to and offered, “you want one, too? it’s on me.” // @willowdalehqstart

The entire town was on edge and understandably so and Cordelia found herself running an unfamiliar route with parts of the town now closed off. She wasn’t the paranoid type and she was more than capable of defending herself, but even she was uneasy with the brutality of the news that had broken earlier on in the day. At first she had put it down to mere coincidence that somebody was running the same route, but after having taken a few left turns down familiar streets and ending up back on the original path, concern grew when she hadn’t yet lost the jogger that was behind her.Â
The witch soon picked up her pace, panting for breath as her panic kicked in and she kept attempting to steal glimpses over her shoulder to see whether or not the other was still in pursuit. Her heart was thudding loudly in her ears, having already taken her headphones out and her sneakers were pounding against the gravel as she forced herself to push faster, until eventually her frame stopped with an almighty thud, having collided straight into somebody else’s path, which resulted in her falling backwards. Her palms fell flat either side of her frame attempting to break her fall and brace for the impact as she fell flat onto her backside, grazing her palms against the terrain as she did so, but the adrenaline coursing through her veins meant she currently didn’t feel any pain. “Oh my god” she finally panted, “I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”
running around his neighborhood had lent itself to the dragging feeling of routine that christian did his best to avoid. the remedy? go for a jog at the nearby park.
some rhythms couldn’t be broken though, meaning that chris honored his body and took the time to stretch before taking off. as he lunged forward, silently counting to ten, he felt what could only be the weight of another crash into his side. he rolled over at the sudden contact, but quickly sprung up as there had been no real damage done to him. “i’m fine,” he replied, his good humor began to peep through as he leaned down and studied her face. she seemed a bit shaken up. christian offered his hand to help her off the ground. “did you get distracted or are my invisibility skills better than i thought?”
