Welcome back to the blog! As always, I am a bit behind…luckily March wasn’t too busy!
Dog-Friendly Dining – Chiswick
We discovered a new dog-friendly restaurant, No 197 Chiswick Fire Station located on Chiswick High Road.
This place is neat and contemporary, totally chilled vibes with delicious food! While we sat inside to eat, we headed out to their secret garden in the back for some coffee, which was lovely and quiet.
I would recommend going here for a relaxed lunch or maybe even a casual business meeting. The staff were excellent with Chunki & brought him a bowl of water straight away!
Dog-Friendly Hotels – The Hoxton
Next up we were invited to stay the night at The Hoxton hotel in Shoreditch. I am planning to do a more in-depth review on this as part of our dog-friendly hotel’s section; however, I thought I would mention it in here too!
Our stay was amazing. I really couldn’t fault it. The staff were accommodating and more than happy to provide lots of cuddles to Chunki. I honestly love it when the staff make a fuss of him, some places claim to be dog-friendly, and they make you feel like a nuisance. It was not the case here!
If you follow us on Instagram, you may have seen that Chunki had hurt his neck. We are still not sure how it happened, but little man was uncomfortable.
We were in and out of the vets with pain medication and told to let him rest, a week later, he was still really uncomfortable and not his usual crazy self. The next step was x-rays, but of course he couldn’t just have the x-ray, he had to be under anaesthesia.
NEVER AGAIN will I subject him to that! Anyone with a brachycephalic dog should understand the risks of putting them under anaesthesia. Chunki had been put under anaesthetic before for his neuter and recovered well, so while I was hesitant to do it again, I assumed that as he recovered well from it before he would be okay.
Well, I was wrong. I’ve never seen Chunki like this before. He was like a zombie; he was so dazed and confused, wouldn’t sleep; he was barely eating and drinking. I stayed up with him all night and eventually by morning he fell asleep.
After that ordeal, I’ve decided that unless it is 100% necessary, I won’t be putting him under ever again.
He’s finally back to his usual self, and his neck doesn’t seem to be giving him any problems at the moment. I honestly think the rest did him some good.
So while this was all happening, the first ever London Dog Week was held! On Saturday, 30th March, we opened their second fashion walk show. It was all a bit hectic with all the different outfits and dogs, but we all managed to pull it off!
Once the show was over, we headed over to Urban Food Fest for its first opening of the year which was dog-friendly. We met up with Lilly (little_lil_pug) and her pawrents for some tasty grub.
