Glass woke at the first shift of Chuuya’s body, her senses still high in the early morning. They were already beginning to fade - things were a little quieter. She turned her head to look at him in the darkness, seeing him easily.
“I doubt you mean that honestly,” she murmured, and stretched slowly. Yawned. “What do you want?”
“Food,” he moaned, his voice thick from sleep. “And a load of painkillers. Maybe a hammer to knock me out again. When was the last time I ate?” He squeezed his stomach with his arms, hoping to stop the pangs, even as his back twinged. “Doesn’t this place have anything?
“Don’t whine,” she said with a scowl, but reached over the edge of the bed for the phone on the nightstand. She dialed room service with the lights still off, and lay back while she waited for the staff member to pick up.
“Morning. Starling in the penthouse suite. I need coffee for two sent up, with cream on the side and without sugar. A meat and cheese selection. Water. Half an hour later, send up an American style breakfast, with no bread or…bread-like things…” a long pause. She repeated her order in Italian, irritation creeping into her voice. The rest of the call went smoothly. She supposed she ought to have started with Italian.
Glass hung up and lay in the bed another moment, ran her hands through her hair slowly to detangle it. “You’re satisfactory.”
“Satisfactory.” Chuuya glared, mild hurt showing in his frown. “Well being kidnapped and extorted might have affected my initial motivation. Maybe try a better pick up line next time,” he grouched. “As for you, my ass has certainly been abused satisfactorily. More than satisfactorily,” he grumbled into the pillow. If there was one thing he appreciated, it was experience, and Glass seemed to have it plenty. However, her threats still burned underneath his skin, underneath each stinging bruise and reddened mark from the riding crop she’d used, and he really wasn’t certain what to do. He swallowed and decided to set such thoughts aside until his head wasn’t an instrument for an overly enthusiastic drummer.
He rubbed his lower back absentmindedly, wincing at the twinge of his muscles and the bite of his bruises. “You don’t have any...I dunno, lotion or cream or something, do you?” Chuuya propped his head up on one fist and stared in her general direction, at the black shadows in bed. He wondered at her odd selection of food, trying to parse what was for who. “You planning to...drink my blood again?”

A normal person might say I like it here. Tabitha didn’t really accept the idea of liking something, any more than she accepted the idea that good or love existed. A normal person would say they liked Italy, and the breeze blowing in, and the cool of the early evening, and the perfect espresso. Tabitha would say she tolerated it, or preferred this over something else. If she had any sense of the truth, she would also say she liked Italy.
She sat at a table outdoors. The sun had set a while ago, and warm lights lit the area. Tabitha observed people as they came and went, ignoring the itch under her skin and the roaring hunger in her stomach. Her eyes rested on a person just walking into the cafe now to order. Her curiosity was piqued, and her gaze followed him only.
Unusual cut, extraordinary fabric, strange hat, red hair, different way of carrying himself. The way he carried himself did stand out above all. Tabitha’s experience told her, He’s with an organization.
Her nose told her, as his scent carried on the breeze, that he was edible. The shadow in her head moved, as if getting off a couch, and low laughter rang through her head.
She could still smell the blood, but it did help to not see it. Glass waited, restraining herself with a little more ease now. He turned off the tap, she shifted on her feet. He went to the tub, and she stared blankly for a moment before realizing he intended to soak. Tabitha had been prepared to wait for a shower. She had not been prepared to watch him for an undefined length of time in the bathtub.
“Or I could sit in the water with you,” she murmured. She stepped toward the bathroom door, released the gear that held her weapons, and set them down well out of reach. Then she started peeling off her turtleneck, releasing her bra, and so on until she was nude. She pulled out hairpins, and her normally straight hair fell in soft waves from its updo, coming lower than her shoulders.
Chuuya gawked at her, his jaw dropping. His foot slid on the ceramic, taking his leg and the rest of his body with it as he tipped over into the tub. He yelped as he was engulfed in the hot water sloshing around. Wiping the water out of his eyes he stared up at Tabitha, trying valiantly to keep his eyes on her face. He swallowed, his cheeks heating. “I - sure, it’s…your suite.” His heart thumped. Tabitha was beautiful, and he hated the way his heart twinged and his stomach squirmed. She was blackmailing him, he was basically a prisoner now, and her eyes had no business looking so deep and rich and inviting.
Tabitha startled when he fell. She tensed and reached back, crouched down, going for a weapon from her clothing. But very quickly she realized that was simply a clumsy slip and fall, nothing threatening at all. She froze exactly where she was, crouching, a knee close to the ground, and listened to his response.
His heart was beating rapidly. His cheeks were hot, but the rest of his body wasn’t quite so rouge yet, so it wasn’t the heat of the tub. He’s aroused, she thought. Of course. Nudity. Many other people weren’t as unaffected by it as she was. Tabitha waited another moment, let her startled heartbeat settle down. She took a knife from the clothing, and walked slowly toward him. She was wary, now, the sudden possible threat distracting from her bloodlust.
Ah, but when she was at the side of the tub, the smell of him rose to her again. Again, her pupils blew wide. She stepped into the tub with hardly a reaction to the deep heat. She lay the knife on the ledge and sat down in the water, sinking back and watching him with half-hooded eyes, as if she was going to relax there.
She wasn’t going to relax. She was hungry, and he was a threat - power or no power, blackmail or no blackmail. Tabitha knew better than to close her eyes to a threat.
Chuuya shifted backwards in the wide tub and then stilled, realizing Glass was reaching for a weapon. He was at a disadvantage sprawled awkwardly like he was and didn’t want to make any threatening movements. The knife caught his eyes and he watched warily as she approached, relaxing slightly when she set it aside as he saw she wasn’t planning to attack him. He tucked his legs up to make room for her. He found himself wishing things hadn’t gone south between them - it would have been a different situation in the tub then. “So, uh…nice suite,” he nodded to the expansive bathroom, attempting to break the silence. Fingers playing with the controls he discovered on the edge of the tub, he jumped when he hit the jets and water rushed up, gushing at his lower back and along his legs. And then he eased into the sensation of the jet massage, groaning.
“Thank you. Designed it myself.”
“Fuck=“ Tabitha’s eyes shot open at the new change, and she scowled at first, fingers curling and clenching around the handle of her knife. She relaxed quickly again, let go of the knife. Chuuya’s groan was pleasant, stirring the same sort of pleasure in her, and she leaned back against a few jets, letting the pressure massage away the tension in her muscles. Not long after, she moved forward, leaned down over him. Tabitha gripped his chin and tilted his head forward, stared at his eyes.
“I’m going to drink from you,” she murmured quietly, pressing against him. She moaned softly, pressed her lips to his neck. She bit down to open one of the first cuts, split his skin again and sucked at his blood.
Chuuya’s eyes shot open as she settled over him, and his breath hitched and sped up. His flush deepened. Without a choice, he let his head be tipped to the side so she could drink. He was only partly successful in stifling a soft whimper at the bite. His hips shifted and his fingers clenched, and a moan left his lips. The ache from his wounds and the sting from the new bite warred with the heat and pleasure filling him. He stared up at the tiled ceiling, vapor swirling and blurring his vision.
He closed his eyes and he could only feel Tabitha pressed up against him, her hands holding him still, and the heat from the bath, overwhelming. There didn’t seem to be enough oxygen in the steamy air and he tipped his head back until it rested on the ledge of the bath, his mouth open with an audible groan.
Two things could give Tabitha genuine pleasure, and here were both. She felt almost high for a few long, blissful minutes. The blood settled in her stomach as a comfortable weight, soothing the constant empty, gnawing ache. The contact with him, skin on skin, fullness, served the same end… but not for long. She needed more.
Tabitha moved from his neck, looked down at him. She was hazy and intense. “Bed. Get out, dry off. I’m going to take you.” She slid off him, shivering, and dried herself off. Left the bathroom, got herself ready.
I'm going to take you.
Fuck. Chuuya opened his eyes. It was pitch black in the room, and he'd have thought he was still sleeping if it hadn't been for the wave of soreness that had just washed over him. His lower back, thighs, and hips ached. Any ideas Chuuya might have had about leaving bed that day were quashed. On top of his protesting body, his head pounded, his mouth was dry, and he felt light-headed. When was the last time he'd drunk anything? His attempts to wrack his brain though the throbbing behind his eyes brought the events of last night to mind. Damn. He hadn't had a night like that since Dazai, and even then, they rarely went that hard. Glass was relentless and insatiable and Chuuya hadn't had that kind of pleasure driven into his body in a long while. No wonder he'd made such poor choices, he thought sourly.
Chuuya wished he was still able to bask in the afterglow rather than waking only for the aftermath and the fallout of his bad decisions. He rolled over, not really paying any attention to the small groans and grunts of pain he let out as his muscles and limbs resettled angrily. And then, "Hnggggggfuck," Chuuya curled up in agony as his stomach protested being empty for so long. All that physical activity when he'd already been hungry, and now he was starving. He buried his head into the pillow. "Kill me now," he mumbled.

She stared at him for a few moments, considering. Tabitha supposed he was right, he probably couldn’t run even if he wanted to. But she wasn’t naive enough to imagine that he didn’t want to run. He might just be playing along with her, looking for an opportune time when her guard was let down.
Her brows raised when he protested the taser. Now I know what will hurt you greatly, should I need to. Tabitha pulled with her finger at his collar, guiding him to follow her to the bathroom. “Fine. You wash yourself. I’ll watch. With a gun, not a taser.”
Chuuya glowered at Glass. “Fine,” he bit out. He let her pull him by the collar - an action that once filled him with heat, but now started to make his gut twist. In the bathroom, Chuuya leaned over the tub to start it filling with water, and then fumbled with the shower, eager to step into it.
It’s not like he hadn’t been naked in front of Glass before - heck, he’d been naked since they first set foot into this room so many hours ago - but washing himself in front of her felt like some kind of weird exhibitionism with the foot they were currently on. But he wasn’t going to cower away, fuck no. If she really wanted a show, she’d get it. He stood under the spray of hot water, head thrown back, letting it drench him, and letting the heat wash away the cold. When he felt he wasn’t petrified in ice anymore, he reached for a washcloth to start soaping it up. Gingerly, Chuuya washed his cuts, dabbing at the bit of blood that started welling up again, and trying not to wince at the sting. He recalled Glass’s words that it was just an appetizer before - he wasn’t sure he was looking forward to just how many more were going to be littering his skin.
For Glass, nudity was hardly an issue. She used it as a tool of humiliation and dehumanization when she tortured, but in other circumstances it was simply…irrelevant. Of course, earlier she had used it for torture. Now they were on slightly different terms. Still, it brought her no arousal in and of itself - she could admire something pretty like Chuuya’s form, but with the same sort of admiration she might view a sunset.
Her eyes perused him for scars, though. She couldn’t scar. She wished she could, so her pain would show on her skin. So she could see the proof of years’ worth of suffering. So it would be tangible. She’d seen people with simple burns from a stove or oven, little scars that only indicated their daily life, the collateral they picked up from living their easy little existences. Her existence was not easy, but it was without witness from her body. It leant to her underlying hum of jealousy against others’ and their scars.
Tabitha salivated as fresh blood welled up from the wounds, hot and sweet to her nose. Her need verged on uncontrollable - if she fought hard enough, she could go the a month without feeding just with the taste from earlier. But you don’t have to fight it, the void, the voice in her head, murmured to her temptingly. It’s within your grasp.
Her fists were clenched, pupils blown, teeth grit, eyes fixed on the cuts. It looked like she was furious, but she was fighting. She was hungry.
Chuuya’s body was toned and lithe from his years as Port Mafia’s best martial artist. And with that title came the inevitable occasional scar. There were a few small ones along his hands and arms, his legs, stretched across his back, but nothing major, just scars from his daily life. Except for one that was rather thick and vertical, about two inches long, white with age, just under his ribs on the left side of his torso. It stretched as he reached his hands up to wash his hair.
Chuuya caught Glass’s furious gaze and his stomach knotted. “What the fuck’s wrong with you?” He was sure he hadn’t done anything to warrant her anger this time, but his hands slowly lowered from his hair, and he shifted his feet for a more solid stance. His eyes flicked to the gun she was holding.
Tabitha swallowed tightly, his voice pulling her from the tension that lay between her and the Void, her hunger and his blood. Her eyes moved off his neck to his face, her teeth ached. “I’m hungry,” she grit out, and then swallowed tightly again. He was ready to fight her, was watching her gun, was shifting his stance. She could anticipate his responses, picture him taking her weapon, her mind was supplying half a dozen common professional strategies he might use.
She took a step back and lowered the gun. Her mouth was slightly open, more of an instinctual action than a useful one - maybe, if her ability to taste wasn’t null, she’d be able to smell the blood with her mouth like a snake. She could not. Glass forced her own gaze away.
Chuuya clenched his jaw, not ready to become food again just yet. He turned around to spare Glass the sight of his blood and finished washing, even though his nerves prickled at leaving his back to a threat. He couldn’t do anything about the tiny trickle of blood washing away with the soap. After another minute or so, he turned off the tap, and stepped out of the shower toward the bath, keeping his shoulder angled toward Glass, water trickling down his back. “I suppose you could sit outside or something, if it’s that much of a bother,” he said as he stepped one foot into the tub, and hissed slightly at the temperature, even warmer than the shower.

“Horizons have nothing to do with skills. I’ve not developed skill in safety because I’ve little interest in it,” she stated. Tabitha had a limited knowledge of common sayings, and this one was beyond her. “I much prefer to balance pleasure and pain with their complete array of risks. It’s more satisfying.”
Her hands traveled up his arm, rubbing and kneading at the larger muscles. Then one began on his shoulder, and the other rested on his ribs. “Hm. You’re nude, you won’t carry much water onto it. Though…a shower first might be better. The canals are bound to have an abundance of bacteria.”
Chuuya would have argued at her explanation of her skills, but didn’t have the stamina for it. His skin prickled at her touch, breath shuddering slightly. He nodded at the suggestion for a shower, grimacing at the thought of bacteria getting into his cuts from last night. Chuuya gathered himself to get up, and eyed the bathroom door and the length of chain. “Uh…” he held the chain meaningfully.
Tabitha shifted off of his legs, stood up, put her knife back in its place. She eyed the chain, eyed him. “You’ll run. And I don’t make empty threats. I don’t want to kill you yet.”
Still, she was thinking of alternatives. Really, she ought to have designed the bathroom with a ring in it, too. Ah, well. She’d work it into the next architectural drawing. She slid her finger under his collar and unlocked the padlock to the chain.“Suppose I could stand by with my taser.”
Chuuya gritted his teeth. “I wasn’t gonna run. You think I could get far like this?” He had stood up, but his legs were shaky and felt like jelly from the long bondage. The hunger pangs were making themselves known again, and he had one arm across his stomach, the other holding onto the foot of the bed, just to keep himself up. His shoulders ached, and that headache was still knocking behind his forehead. Sure, he could punch her, but his legs wouldn’t carry him very far, and he still couldn’t use his Ability.
Chuuya’s breath came out in a growl at the mention of the taser. He did not want to experience that, especially while wet. “Shackle me and fucking wash me yourself if you’re so concerned, just don’t fucking taze me.” He hated electricity, it was something even his Ability could do nothing about.

Her nose told her, as his scent carried on the breeze, that he was edible. The shadow in her head moved, as if getting off a couch, and low laughter rang through her head.
“Ask politely for what you want, and you’ll most likely get it,” she responded, standing and crossing her arms. “I don’t appreciate rude demands.”
She moved away from him, returned to the box in the closet. She pulled out chain and two padlocks, this time, and attached one end to a ring at the head of the bed. The chain extended twelve feet - plenty of room, but not enough to reach the washroom or door. It was fairly heavy. She locked the other end of it to his collar, then withdrew a knife.
Chuuya’s eyes went wide and he attempted, futilely, to scoot backwards, not able to manage much more than a wiggle. “Woah woah woah! There’s no need to get violent! Please!” He swallowed. “Please…untie me.” Was that good enough? He didn’t want to grovel at her feet, but…he was prepared to if he had to. Clearly his disdain for begging wasn’t going to go far.
Tabitha’s mouth moved in a reflection of a wry smile. “Your voice is musical when you beg. Stay very still, and you’ll be fine,” she stated, and grasped a rope that crossed his chest, pulled it taut. She slid the knife between his side and arm, and jerked upward. It cut through multiple ropes as if they were mere thread. She moved down to his feet, pulled at another rope, cut those between his ankles. She took much more care while cutting the rope that bound his toes. Then she turned him onto his stomach, sat on his thighs, and cut his thumbs and wrists free.
Glass put the knife away, and took one of his wrists in her hand to rub at it, gently massaging life back into the joint.
Chuuya stayed stone still as she cut the ropes. His years of training with knives had given him a healthy respect for their utility and deadliness. The sudden release after his body hadn’t known freedom in so long was jarring. He groaned audibly. “Fuck.” He just laid there, collapsed on the ground, wishing he could just meld with it and go away. He gladly let Glass sit on his thighs and massage his wrist, his bones so much like jelly. “Ahh - tch.” His breath hissed out as he bit back the pain. The forearm that wasn’t getting attention inched slowly to the ground from where it had been pinned behind him, the tight muscles slowly letting go. “Damn.”
And with the cutting of the ropes, he just started shivering even more, actually glad for Glass’s weight and warmth on his legs. “Don’t you know you’re not supposed to abruptly cut people loose?” his voice creaked out.
“I’m skilled at physical and psychological torture, and the straddle between pain and pleasure, Chuuya. Not safe play,” she muttered. She could feel him shivering beneath her. Well, that wasn’t very strange if she thought about past work, but she’d forgotten about the cold. She took his other wrist and massaged it, too. “No. I didn’t know that. It’s outside my expertise. You’re cold. Get up into the bed.”
“You should broaden your horizons, Tabs,” he muttered. Dragging his free forearm in front of him and slowly propping his front up, he awkwardly turned to look at her. “You want me to get into the bed when I’m wet?” He honestly didn’t want her to stop massaging. She was good at it, and he sighed, closing his eyes momentarily.
