‘Claire in Motion’ Premiere was a ‘Breaking Bad’ Reunion!

Last night in LA was a dreary night of wind and rain. I was so tired after a long day at work AND it was the third premiere of the week (busy, busy, busy!) -- I will be honest, I half debated e-mailing that I couldn’t make it. The premiere after all was in Santa Monica and when you live in West Hollywood, it might as well be the other side of the world. An hour in #LARushHour to go ten miles is no easy task! ;)

But! There is always a but...I am so glad I sucked it up and went because the carpet was inside where it was warm and not rainy. I love independent films because their premieres are usually a bit more low-key and less hoopla than the giant blockbusters with 30-40 outlets!

I arrived. Rain boots and all! Ah the perks of only shooting from the waist up. First and definitely not last time keeping my wellies on for a red carpet premiere. I always geek out when I see CiGi TV in the line up. It’s so gratifying to remember dreaming the outlet up and then launching it and now it’s in action as a real live network! My baby. I put so much time into it and when the work pays off, it always gives me a little wave of “Holy Smokes!!” that I launched my dream.

WGN’s Outsiders Season 2 Premiere at Paley Center!

Last night was so much fun! I love covering events at the Paley Center because the carpet is always super organized and they do a really good job at finding outlets that have niche fanbases for the shows they are covering! I knew fans of CiGi TV would love it because I tweeted at Kyle Gallner and Ryan Hurst about it before hand and the fans went crazy sending in questions!

48 Hours to Live | Movie Premiere

Happy 2017! I missed doing interviews, I took all of December off for the holidays because LA goes into ghost town. I’ll admit, it took a burst of energy to get all my equipment organized and lug it to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. There was another red carpet below and Hollywood Boulevard gets completely jam packed with traffic!

It was a really fun red carpet and I love when it’s a little smaller because you get the chance to talk to everyone. When it’s a giant carpet, the celebrities sometimes get really rushed trying to talk to dozens of outlets. I was all ready to go with my CG mic flag. They were also live streaming the whole carpet.

First up was James Maslow who stars in the movie! He was really charming and made sure to stop for all the outlets to give fun interviews. It’s crazy how many followers he has! His fans are very dedicated.

Variety Inclusion Summit 2016

Wow, wow, wow. Just getting home from a whirlwind day at the Variety Summit on Inclusion. I double majored in Media and Women Gender Studies so a full day of looking at ALL groups from women, performers that have disabilities, POC, and anyone that gets looked over for opportunities in entertainment is a day of substance that really makes you open your eyes. There was a full day of events and it’s all on my Twitter with Snaps from throughout the day!

For now, I want to shine a light on Pharrell William’s keynote because he took the stage and used that as an opportunity to send a broader message out on Election 2016 with a call to action to vote for Hillary Clinton. I had a front row seat to the whole message.

Part 1 highlighted his career, prayer, and the moments that define his message.

I really appreciated Variety for the opportunity because to be included for my own production company was meaningful. I’m a one woman band and I film, edit, and promote all of my content so it’s important to me to use my digital media platform to promote messages of substance.

I shoot on a Canon 70D with a monkey pod and Seinnheiser mic. 

One of the quotes that stood out the most came towards the end but he said, “It’s time to have women have their light in the sunshine with no shade. Metaphorically and literally.” Hey Pharrell, just an idea but that would make a pretty good song. A women empowerment song doesn’t just have to come from a women. Men came be fierce feminists too and I believe that you are a role model example of this. Lets all come together and save this nation on November 8th, 2016.

Entertainment Weekly’s PopFest 2016

This past weekend was the inaugural PopFest hosted by Entertainment Weekly. There is always something a little extra special about the intro to a festival. How cool are people that can drop they were at Coachella before Coachella was Coachella? 

PopFest had a slew of stars but this was a festival for the fans. The events were targeted towards extremely niche audiences as well as the A-List talent. A podcast that you’ve never heard of? Yeah, it has a cool 5 million views per month. 

Covering a red carpet is always a big gamble because you just never know what you’re going to get but CiGi TV got amazing interviews with a very fun range of talent. Standout moment was definitely the dramatic monologue reading of “I Love It” from the Swedish girl duo Icona Pop. 

One of the most buzzed about movies of the festival was “Office Christmas Party” because our favorite friend Jennifer Aniston brought her iconic star power to meet the fans. 

TJ Miller and Courtney B. Vance spent their spare time on set perfecting their ventriloquist act with a message to go see “Office Christmas Party.” 

I was especially excited to meet the cast of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” As a YouTuber myself, I remember when Rachel Bloom got the GREEN LIGHT on the The CW pilot and the YouTube community was just bursting with pride that one of our own was getting a network platform. I am continually grateful to publications such as Entertainment Weekly for embracing digital in all forms with celebrating podcasts, webseries, and the big Hollywood blockbusters in one venue.

Another fun show to look out for is “Making History” from FOX starring Leighton Meester, Adam Palley, and Neil Casey. Watch the interview on CiGi TV here.

One of the videographers from Extra took a fun timelapse video showing behind the scenes what all the crew is up to in between waiting for the next interview. This is a pretty accurate look at what we all do :)

One of my all time favorite Fall shows this season is “This is Us.” The cast didn’t have time in between schedules to do interview but Milo Ventimiglia and I both share the same love for Mandy Moore.

One of my favorite discoveries from PopFest was “The Lady Gang” which is an amazing podcast hosted by Becca Tobin, Keltie Knight, and Jac Vanek.

Amazing night at the GEANCO Foundation Hollywood Gala. The event supported medical and educational programs in Nigeria, including the David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls, which provides scholarships for girls impacted by acts of terrorism. The GEANCO Foundation honored humanitarian and Oscar-nominee Benedict Cumberbatch for his passionate advocacy on behalf of vulnerable women and children around the world.

Last night, I had an amazing host cover an event for CiGi TV while I was across town covering another event at the same time. She snapped this cute picture and it may seem simple to you but it represents such a bigger picture to me. Ever since high school, I idolized Giuliana Rancic on E! News. Her charismatic personality and spirited interviews inspired me to work for E! one day too. After a few years working as an entertainment reporter in LA, I got the call to come meet with E! I thought, "This is it...here we go!" Well, life doesn't always work out affording to your big plans in high school and although everyone was incredibly kind, at that time they didn't have a place for me. I will admit, at first I was really disappointed. I kept thinking, "What now?" and I thought that for a few years while I freelanced other places. This past year, the stars aligned and I had the first realization that by utilizing YouTube and social media, I could start my own outlet and that's how CiGi TV came to be. I will always watch E! and I love the team over there but right now I'm pretty darn thrilled that we get to be neighbors on the red carpet. It may seem like a small step but to me, it's a big step to be in such good company. "You can't control the wind - but you can adjust your sails" - one of my favorite quotes that Google tells me about 7 different people have said. Anyway, don't give up on your dreams, dream bigger.
