“y’know, i’m not the BAD GUY here, right?? pretty sure muggy mcmuggerson’s got that deal under wraps. like. you gettin’ paid for this gig here, pal?” he’d craned his neck to harry’s assailant, tune joking to mask the complete and utter awkwardness he felt in regards to this situation. “–like for real, people don’t dress like that out of choice, right?? this was a wardrobe decision, yeah??” words spilled from lips, uttering quips to distract his already racing mind from harry’s disdain. his obvious hatred. that was until his final words hit spandex covered ears.
“–oh. oh, right, okay. so like…next time i catch you bein’ mugged, you want me to let you get stuck with a sticker?? c’mon, mister osborn. just admit i did you a solid already.” it would be a miracle if he did. “pretty sure you need better bodyguards. there’s nobody around here, my dude. like..uh. you. you DO pay these guys, right? they’re really not doin’ their job well. like…for real. you could’ve just been straight up murdered.” the thought had the hairs on the back of his neck on end. peter rolled his shoulders, index finger lifting and pointing towards himself. “i’m totally doin’ a better job than them.”
“now that all depends on perspective, don’t you think?? sure, go ahead and play the little hero game ad beat up the ‘evil’ little muggers. i think i’ll keep my OWN opinion, thanks.” he was hardly in the mood for joking, far too focused on the feelings that he had for this so-called mask ‘hero.’ harry had no hand in this type of life and he never wanted a thing to do with it. from what he had seen, being a hero or a villain was easily the best way to ruin one’s life. it was a miracle that none of his closest friends had a part in it. the only part civilians seemed to have in all of this was falling victim to the games that were played between both sides. and he was tired of it.
“it would certainly be more agreeable than hearing you’re yammering, yes. i’m not admitting a damn thing. i don’t need you to save me.” but he did. he was weak. helpless. hands dropped from their crossed position, scoffing at the words. “not that it’s any of your concern, but the reason that my bodyguards aren’t around is because i ditched them. that was my choice to do so. as if you’d understand.” it wouldn’t have been fun to get, well, murdered, but he still stood by his decision. “like i said, bug, i don’t need you to do anything for me. i don’t want you to do anything for me. you’ve already done ENOUGH.”
