Cinaed
Cinaed mac Fhionáin is the second-born son of Finan, the rightful heir to the throne of Ulaid. Raised by Finan’s brother, Conall, Cinaed grew up with a complex legacy, initially feeling resentment toward his true father. While Ronan, his elder brother, was groomed for kingship and grew confident and bold, Cinaed was more introspective and soft-spoken, with relentless and physically demanding training that shaped him into one of the greatest warriors of his line. Cinaed holds his mother in high regard, in contrast to Ronan, and as he matures, he begins to open his heart toward Finan, seeking understanding and connection. On the eve of his eighteenth birthday he returns from a station up north during the recent war with the Scot’s, and decides to travel to Bebbanburg to speak with his father and prepare to take the Crown in light of his brother’s recent abdication. What he doesn’t expect is to fall madly in love with a Norse warrior, and discover something about himself that has been lingering under his skin all along.
