In your pinned, you mention you are homebrewing a dnd world for your friends. Can you share the details? Is there a theme to the world? Is there a goal to it, or is it just for fun? Is there something about the world you are particularly proud of?
WAAIIIT. TY FOR THIS QUESTION. MY FIRST ASK AND I LOVE THAT I GET TO NERD. YEAAAY. (I take back the glitter torture thingy)
Okok so, I am actually very new to DnD. DnD was not popular where I live back then. So I barely knew about it.
However, I practically grew up online. (I was safe, dw. We were in a space where we were all teens. With a few stragglers, but we don't care about them.) But anyways, being a chronically online nerd who doesn't play video games, I discovered written roleplay. And I am not talking about sexting or sexual roleplay you pervs. It was pure written TTRPG. Basically DnD in written form. The rules are a little different than DnD though. It's more loose and we don't have dice rolls and all.
But I digress. We basically created different worlds for roleplaying. Or sometimes, we roleplay in an already made world, like Percy Jackson, but with our own spin. E.t.c
I have personally created a few different worlds (And I mean, a fully written world, with economic structure, politics, e.t.c) with someone I call my "sister".
One of the world that was created was inspired by Berserk. It actually started off as just one town as a safe zone and the rest of the world was just filled with twisted, vile creatures that players have to cleanse the world off.
Afterwards though, we expanded it to become a fully running world. I love this world so much, and I sort of got tired of written roleplays because my writing capabilities have truly gone down the drain, so I decided to port this and adapt it to fit the mechanics of DnD.
I recently found friends who wanted to play DnD so yeay me. This is why I am finally doing this now.
Anyways, safe to say, I have to actually scrape the whole world and restart because we were practically babies when we made that world, and there's a lot of loopholes so I am slowly recreating it.
It is a dark fantasy world, and I basically mimicked real life abrahamic religions as the basis. (Like, having pantheons are cool and all but that's just too much for me. 😭 So I am sticking to a singular God.)
It's currently inspired by Berserk still, of course, blended with John Gwynne's of Blood and Bone trilogy and M.L Wang's Blood over Bright Haven. There's also dragons and stuff but the main focus is for the heroes to banish the corruption that's plaguing the land. This corruption is basically "darkness", caused by the seven sins, twisting and turning creatures demented. (My english has failed me at this moment. 😭😭 I hope you get what I mean.)
It's basically, sins manifested, and corrupting creatures and people? Like, in real life. With murderers and all that? But it also causes physical changes.
What I am particularly proud of when it comes to this world? That's hard to pick. But I would guess, the cosmology? The whole reason I scraped the world and restarted was because I realised a lot of things did not make sense until we have a whole cosmology written. And while I was writing that part, I had to change a lot of the parts. It's like, the story was writing itself. I am just there to pen it to life.
But anyways, I know I rambled. But SORRY NOT SORRY cause you asked for this.
Also, if you guys wanna try written roleplay, you can try Iwaku Roleplay. It's an amazing site. 🫶🏽
