Something isn’t right.

Dipper has felt it since he’s been back in Gravity Falls, and it’s not unusual to feel that things are off in a place like this, but it is unusual that he always feels it. Always. He feels it when he wakes up and while he’s eating, when he’s deep in the forest or walking through town, when he’s lying awake in bed at night.

When he’s sleeping.

It should be concerning, and he’s definitely been concerned, he’s not denying that, it would be crazy if he wasn’t. It’s just…

It doesn’t seem so bad. And he knows how that sounds, but he’s gotten pretty good at deciphering the babbling stream of interference at the corner of his mind– it usually feels curious, and very eager (eager for what, Dipper can’t say). It could get intrusive at times, but it was nothing he felt like he and his encrypted thoughts couldn’t handle.

Now, he maaayyy have slightly underestimated the situation.

Basically an Au about a tired unwilling manager Dipper and obnoxious actor Bill au

Something about Bill being too handsome and too good of an actor to actually get rumors and scandals to reach him while Dipper is working overtime to try to cover them up because most of them are exaggerated, cuz even if most Bill’s scandals are caused by his asshole attitude they mostly end up being blown out of proportions. The fact that he used to be worse when he was younger doesn’t help his reputation.

Bill is NOT making the job easier for Dipper “hey get me this! Oh get me that” he would 100% get Dipper to get a coffee with an immeasurable list of ingredients, not because he wants his coffee like that but because he loves to annoy his favorite and only manager who sticks to him despite his behavior.

Also Dipper is definitely getting raises from Bill, the pay is WAY TOO GOOD for him to actually leave the job.

What do you mean he grew fond of his obnoxious boss ? NO WAY !

Bill Cipher wakes up disoriented.

Again.

There’s a roof over his head and soft cushions underneath him, but he feels even shittier than the first time. His mouth is drier than the Nile after he was done with it, and his stomach is cramping viciously. The lights dance in his vision, but he musters the strength to sit up and swing his legs off the side of the couch. The blanket that was covering him falls onto his lap as he raises his head to look around.

It’s the Mystery Shack, to absolutely no one’s surprise— only a Pines would tranq him on sight. He’s almost proud of whichever one of them was ballsy enough to do it, if it wasn’t for the fact that it means they knew he was coming.

Ax has been meddling…

Bill takes a deep breath of the rich, woodsy scent of the house, surveying the once familiar room. He used to have eyes all over the place, but most have been destroyed or taken down, so he’s had a limited view while he’s been gone– not that he’s been trying to check.

(He’s been bored! So what?)

There are a few short stacks of brown boxes pushed up against the walls, which are smooth and intact instead of covered in ripped wallpaper and splintering holes, and the furniture isn’t held together with peeling tape and rusted screws anymore. It still has its oddities scattered around, but there are newer additions too–he picks up a picture frame off of the side table, and recognizes Shooting Star and Pine Tree. Star has big sunglasses covering the top half of her face and a wide smile taking up the bottom half. Her arms are thrown around Pine Tree while the kid is laughing mid-stumble. Bill furrows his brows.

The longer he looks at the picture, the more he feels that something is off, but he can’t quite put his finger on it. It’s almost as though…

Time, he realizes. How much time has passed?

A shadow suddenly falls over him, and he cranes his neck to look up as the frame is plucked out of his hands.
