An Unexpected Colleague | Hyuna & Junhyung
Her eyes widened as he pulled a twig from the mirror, his words flying in one ear and out the other as she tried to wrap her head around what had just happened. “That is so cool,” she said, looking up and grinning at the other. “There looks like there’s other stuff in there, so is there a limit? Or could you shove an entire room into that tiny thing?” Her mind instantly traveling, the questions popped out one after the other, and she had to limit herself from continuing on her interrogation.
"Thanks," she accepted the compliment, cheeks flushing slightly with pride. After hiding it for so long the fact someone found it interesting was very new to her. "I’m a smoke manipulator," she said, sticking out an arm between the two of them. Staring at her arm to make sure she didn’t let go of too much, it began to smoke steadily, a soft grey color. She collected the smoke into a ball and made it hover between them; once it was all collected she dropped her arm and concentrated on the smoke, condensing it until it was a solid obsidian black and about the size of a softball. Unsure of what to make it into, she went basic, easily morphing the sphere into a miniature lion with a smokey mane. "I can also make other things, like cars or bikes or dragons - anything really. And it doesn’t have to be from my body, it can be from a fire or….. like, factory plants or whatever." Allowing the lion to drop to the ground, she threw a basic ‘program’ into it; allowing it to walk around and toss it’s mane about.
He was satisfied with her reaction, it palpable on his face as he kept his eyes on her, his smile never leaving. Though he did ignore her questions, partly because she was talking too fast for him to catch up but mostly because he didn't know the answers to them. He had never tried to fit anything more than he wanted to in his mirror, and a room wasn't on the list. He tried to stuff as many of his clothes as he could in one of his mirrors and at one point it had started to crack. There were many things he still needed to figure out with his ability and how to put more space into them was one. After all, how could anyone possibly take space and put it into a mirror? He considered himself crazy just for thinking about it.
When she had held her arm out, they cut through her thoughts and he stared in awe at what the flesh was now becoming. "That's amazing." he muttered quietly, his thumbs fiddling with each other. One of his hands gradually grew closer towards the lion, they were twitching to touch the creation but he knew it was a bad idea. But then again--why should he care? He let a finger touch the smoke and almost immediately he pulled back, unsure of what it was supposed to feel like in the first place. "Do you think it's possible to put the smoke into the mirror and then..you know, you turn back once you're inside?" he tore his eyes away from the smoke and looked at the latter, immediately getting excited with his own suggestion.
His limitation of not being able to bring someone with a beating heart was something he had always wanted to take away. He wanted his friends to come with him, the stray animals he sometimes found on the streets. He wanted to create his own world, once he figured out how to put space inside, he could have been his own creator.
Opposites Attract | BoA & Junhyung
She watched as he took in her appearance as well not that it wasn’t something she wasn’t already used to. At least he didn’t appear to be looking at her like a piece of meat as most of the guys she had met throughout her life usually did.
"Boa" she replied her eyes drifting from his face down to the hand that was offered to her with wary trepidation. She debated on whether or not to accept the handshake before finally deciding to just keep her arms right where they already were, down by her side.
Even if it made her appear rude to the other she really wouldn’t care. In fact he’d be better off without trying to engage her in any sort of interaction. It would only blow up in his face like it did to most people that came into contact with her.
After realizing that she wouldn't take his hand, he dropped it to his side. A pink shade brushed over his cheeks, leaving just as quickly as it came. If he was being honest with himself (which he almost never was) he was used to this response. He gave her a quick shrug before the smile returned to his lips, his eyes brightening instantly.
"Boa." he repeated curiously, looking back towards the ocean. It was large, and despite the fact that Junhyung sometimes believes he can swim across the whole thing, he always kept his distance from swimming. Dismissing his thoughts quickly, he looked back at his company. "What were you doing on the beach?"
Boredom Strikes Again | Baekhyun & Junhyung
Baekhyun’s first response -probably due to a jolt of adrenaline- is a subconscoius spur of his ability. There is a whoosh of a sudden increase of air pressure in a certain area of the room before a cracking as the mirror splits and caves due to the pressure.
it’s only after he looks at the splintered glass that two thoughts form in his head. First is that he’s thankful he has no roommate however he doesn’t know how he’s going to explain to the circus in general that he needed a new mirror because he foolishly broke one. Second is that there’s no way that horrifying image he just saw came from anything normal. There must have been someone, somewhere, who had controlled his image. Maybe illusion ability or something, leading to him being at the edge of a nasty prank.
He looks around in a bit of irritation, ready to find the prankster and scold them if needed. Sure Sunwoo and him pulled off a lot of pranks, but this was different. He quickly spots the mirror as the potential source and nears it, calling out in as normal of a voice as possible.
"Since I broke the mirror…I think it’s best for you to show yourself."
Junhyung had done a good enough job of keeping his laughter in, though it seemed pointless since he was now hearing the latter's voice. It was small and quiet; he wouldn't have heard it if it were a much windier night than it was.
"I'm showing myself!" he replied eagerly, folding his arms over the windowsill so his chin could rest on them. The grin still lingered and he had to bite on his lower lip to keep it from growing any wider. The expression on the victim's face was enough to give Junhyung the entertainment he craved for for a week at the least. He confirmed then that he had never met the latter, but his face was familiar enough to remember what his ability was. Though he can't deny that the cracked mirror on the other side of the wall was a big help.
There was a thin and also cracked layer of glass in between the two faces, it was enough for Junhyung to hear what was happening on the other side. In the same sense it was also thin enough that the latter could easily break the glass and grab him by the throat. He easily believed that the second scenario was going to happen and lowered his chin behind his arms, as if it would protect him from the other.
"Did you enjoy it?" he asked curiously, this time allowing his smile to grow impossibly larger. He always asked this to anyone's reflection he manipulated. Most of the time he got a negative response, but that never hindered his curiosity. Someone somewhere was eventually going to like what he did as much as him, right?

There are Always 2 Jokers in a Deck | Baro & Junhyung
Sunwoo had to move away once the other when the other started yelling into the sky, seemingly letting his anger out on the trees surrounding him. He broke out into a hysterical laughter that would have given him away if he had stayed near the other’s ear. It took him a couple of minutes to calm back down, his laughter died out but the smile stayed wide on his face. He moved close to the other once more and hovered right next to his ear. “You must’ve missed something,” Sunwoo whispered, “Isn’t figuring that out better then screaming at the trees? You should go back, find what you missed.”
He just wanted to cure his boredom and this guy just was at the wrong place at the wrong time. All he needed to do was figure out a way to lead the other towards his body and then the others reaction would be enough for him. Since he’s barely seen the other around he highly doubted that the other knew of his ability so his reaction would be so priceless. The problem was how to lead him there.
With the trees staying still and his anger somewhat let out, Junhyung welcomed the voice speaking to him again. At this point he didn't care whether or not who he was hearing was a performer. It could be a clown with knives for fingers and he wouldn't care because he finally saw who it was--after all, he could just disappear into the knives.Go back, go back, go back that phrase was constantly being told to him and he figured that there was something back there significant, something that he apparently missed.
Junhyung didn't know why he listened to anything he was told, he wasn't sure why he wasn't going back to his cottage where everything was quiet and it was safe. His curiosity was definitely built up and that, along with his tendency to want to know everything was what caused him to go to most places. The combination of the two got him into loads of trouble, trouble which was both avoidable and unwanted. His mother constantly told him that his curiosity was going to cause him to end up like the cat, but he always had the same thought--the cat must have had one hell of an adventure before dying.
He stepped on a log which cut off his thoughts and sent him stumbling ahead, tripping on another log. It didn't take long before he realized that those were not logs but instead they were legs. He examined the face of the boy in front of him, his brows furrowed in both confusion and disbelief. He didn't know what anyone would be doing in the woods and he seemed to be sleepy..that or he was dead. Junhyung kicked the other's leg lightly, expecting some sort of reaction.
…..he gurgles his water before swallowing…..
just a scratch || jinki&junhyung
Jinki continued to hum to himself as he sat, admiring the deep blue ocean, wondering when they’d venture from the home island. He was actually very interested to actually see one of the shows. He had yet to see one. He joined right as they were leaving for the island and never had the chance to witness the show, but when they returned to the world from their isolation, he was sure it would be a shock to his system, but he was still excited.
As he continued to wonder to himself, a voice caught his attention, drawing the young man to look over. He noticed the red, taking over the once white shirt. He stood up and went over to the other male’s arm, pulling the shirt off and looking at the wound.
"Follow me," he offered a gentle smile as he covered over the wound once more before quickly leading the male to where he can apply some simple first aid to help him. Once there, he would be able to take the pain away.
Finally arriving only a few short moment later, pulling the male inside the building. Showing the male to the sink, he turned it on and took the shirt off throwing it to the side before placing the forearm under the cool water. “Keep it under there for a few minutes. I need to get some items,” he said quickly as he scurried over to the cabinets, pulling everything he needed to deal with this. It was a very simple stitching. It could take him about ten minutes.
Returning to the other, he set his things next to the sink before pulling over to stools, ushering the other to sit down. Once seat, he grabbed the male’s other hand, “Okay, I’m going to take the pain away now. It is a lot easier to do this then to give you pain killers. Don’t look away from my eyes, alright?”
Junhyung did as he was told, his eyes never leaving his forearm. Every few seconds he would mutter a curse under his breath. He was moved easily by the latter as he started to get light-headed. This wasn't his first time getting cut with one of his mirrors, but it was usually never this bad. He would usually get out of the way in time or just barely. Only scars were left on his wrists or his legs. At one point his parents thought he was doing it on purpose and it took him several long conversations with his parents and a doctor to convince them otherwise.
Eventually he managed to take his eyes away from his forearm and watched the other. He realized that neither of them knew each other's names, but he figured that that could wait for later, when he wasn't making everything white turn red.
The water rushing through the small hole from the faucet did a good job on both cleaning the blood on his arm and making his wound hurt even more. He wanted to take his hand out but he decided that it was better to listen to what the other man had to say; he seemed to know what he was doing. Junhyung just hoped that he was as capable as he looked.
His face was twisted due to the pain, he bit down hard on his bottom lip as if it would stop him from yelling in pain. He listened to the other's words and looked at his eyes, not caring about why he had to do so. Apparently his eyes were better than pain killers and in a place like this Junhyung didn't bother to question it. All he needed was his arm to stop feeling like it was being gnawed on by a beast.
An Unexpected Colleague | Hyuna & Junhyung
"Nice to meet you Junhyung," she replied with a grin. "I’m Hyuna, Kim Hyuna." Nodding her head in greeting, her eyes traveled down to the mirror in his lap. She blinked in surprise when she noticed a variety of things inside that it certainly wasn’t reflecting. Oh, she thought. So that’s probably where the ball came from. Maybe he was just throwing stuff out? He probably didn’t mean to. Or at least, I don’t think he would. He seems pretty nice.
Realizing she’d stopped talking and stared at his lap for a while she blushed and returned her attention to his face. “Sorry, I’ve just never seen something like that before. That’s really cool, is that your skill?” she asked, pointing the mirror as she crossed her legs. Tucking stray strands of hair behind her ear, she ticked through her mental checklist of body parts, making sure when she’d transformed back she’d gotten everything together. It seemed she’d lost a little when the ball had passed through her, but it wasn’t enough to warrant immediate attention. She’d have to eat something later, for sure, but it was fine for now, she was just a bit skinnier than normal.
"You probably already saw what I can do," she added as an after thought, nodding to the group of friends now tossing around the ball that had appeared.
Junhyung squirmed in his seat, he wasn't uncomfortable nor did he feel awkward but her eyes caused him to not know what to say. When she spoke, he almost let out a breath of relief but managed to hold it back. His tension slipped away just as quickly as it came when he heard her question. He took the mirror in his hand and held it in between them. There was always something about someone else taking interest in anything involving his ability that flipped a switch in his brain. That switch was one that gave him the idea that he and the other person were friends.
"Yeah." he answered, reaching a few fingers in the mirror to pull out a stray twig. "It isn't enough to get me into the main tent, but the guests usually like it." the usually was because there was the occasional person that would get mad. He always understood, though, since the ones that get mad are the ones that have their reflections turned into themselves but fatter or older. Junhyung took note to not approach those people just to save himself from getting hit.
"It's pretty cool." he commented, "Your skill, I mean. I've seen a lot but never something like that." his gaze was now fixed on her, the curiosity was clear in his eyes. "What else can you do?"
Tour Guide | Mir & Junhyung
It struck him as strange that the other spoke of getting lost on what he felt was a very small area of land, but Mir had never been good at spotting lies, much less at having the stomach to call someone out on it. That and something along with his body language seemed to speak the truth, so he held back his uncertainties to offer an expression of sympathy. “Getting lost is never fun, especially in places where there’s nothing to right yourself.” His words came out softly, eyes flickering to the side to examine the forest around them almost quizzically, questioning why it would do such a thing to the man.
However, since it could not speak back, he fixed his attention on the man again, with an almost apologetic smile, Mir knowing his pain and regretting that he had to experience that at all. Losing the way could lead to great adventure, or great pain, or both, and from the look of this man, Junhyung had not discovered anything good in his excursion through the woods.
Shaking his head, the man introduced himself as well with a kind, “I’m Cheolyong, but you can call me Mir. I’m out here so I don’t embarrass myself in front of others.” A dark blush colored his cheeks when he admitted to that, but he didn’t regret it in the slightest, for the reason that he liked telling the truth even when it was at his own expense. “I have seizures, and people tend to find it strange if I fall to the ground and start convulsing in front of them, so I either have to stay in my house at all times, or I have to go where no one else is.” He figured his explanation told all that was needed, and he smiled up at his companion with a sense of kindness.
Extending that, he decided to ask, “Are you alright?” because the look on his face and the way he held his body just seemed to indicate that the opposite was the case. “Do you need to see a doctor or something?” As far as he could see, Junhyung look relatively unblemished, but Mir knew better than anyone else just how much he could miss even while staring right at his target. He felt bad that so much had to be spelled out to him, but in this case, he figured it couldn’t be a bad thing to double check when someone else had just ventured from those dangerous woods. Or, the more thick part of the dangerous woods.
Junhyung listened to Mir attentively, nodding at the information that was given. He wasn't sure whether the latter was telling him the truth or not but he had no reason to think otherwise. He had yet to figure out what the other's abilities were, and with the wide range that he's already seen, there was bound to be someone with side effects of some sort. Unless it was just something he was prone to do regardless of his power. Just in case that was the situation, he took note not to ask about the seizures or the power. Instead, he gave another nod at the question.
He didn't want to tell Mir about his encounter with the bear. He knew that he could get in trouble just for being in this area of the woods and almost dying probably wouldn't play in his favor. "I'm okay, really." he assured, a hand moving to his side as he straightened up. He could hear his bones straining just from moving, and just when a sharp pang took over his side he thought back to the way he was tossed earlier. Oh God, I better not have any broken bones. he thought to himself, spending a few good moments rubbing his side as if it would stop the stinging.
"Are you?" he asked back, his eyes scanning over the other's attire. It was obvious that he had a seizure not too long ago. Mir didn't seem like the type to enjoy rolling around on dirty surfaces. But then again they did just meet, and like he was told countless times--you can't judge a book by it's cover. Which deemed pointless to Junhyung because you could judge a book by it's cover; it wasn't hard and no one would stop you from doing so.
Junhyung's eyes traveled back to the latter's face, his features cutting through his previous thoughts. "You look like you need to..change your clothes." he commented, a chuckle following shortly afterwards. "Do you mind taking me with you?" his tone was more timid than usual, he wasn't one to ask people of favors but if he wasn't going to ask now, then he never would have. And he didn't want to stay in the woods anymore, the bear would come back eventually, he didn't have the energy nor the ability to go through that again.
There are Always 2 Jokers in a Deck | Baro & Junhyung
Sunwoo followed the man through the trees as he walked and the other didn’t seem to realize he was there. He had seen the other around the cirque a few times but they never actually spoke and that made him wonder if the other knew about him or if the prank that suddenly came to mind would play out exactly like he hoped.
A mischievous grin settled on his lips as he watched the male turn to look behind him, looking straight though Sunwoo and towards the forest beyond. Sunwoo moved closer to the male and leaned in close to his ear, he felt as if it was the perfect moment to test if his ability worked on other cirque members. “You should head back,” he whispered into the unsuspecting male’s ear, “You should head back and see if you looked over anything.” His persuasion of sorts worked on normal humans but he never once tried it on someone else with an ability but he was really hoping it did because he already struck out with the animals. He needed to have fun somehow.
Junhyung was never one to believe in ghosts, God knows why since he's spent the past month around people that are far more than ghosts are. At the sound of the voice he flinched, turning around in surprise when no one was there. "If I looked over anything?" he repeated quietly, starting to move back to where the moonlight was. He stayed in the spot for some time before a thought struck him.
"If you're another performer I'm going to fucking kill you!" he shouted into the woods, not caring if anyone back in the houses would hear him. The others wouldn't usually do anything to him but talk, he was always the one to pull anything over anyone. He hadn't met anyone else like him, but then again, he'd only met a few people at the cirque.
just a scratch || jinki&junhyung
With each step, the unknown tune in Jinki’s head seemed to grow in volume. He honestly had no idea where he was headed and wasn’t in any particular mood to do anything. He was merely… strolling.
The empathetic male had only been with the cirque for two months by now. He joined right before they came to the island and spent most of the time in his room, just watching from his window. He was a pretty nice guy and liked to be around people, but it was like there was this door that he just couldn’t seem to get through. Almost like it was locked from the inside with the key missing.
Still, there were times where Jinki would venture from his room and stroll around the island, greeting those who passed him by. He still didn’t know everyone and was still getting to know others. He hadn’t had much of an opportunity to really try and get to know others. He probably should work on that, he thought to himself.
With hands in his pockets and a smile on his face, the male had set out to find something to occupy his time. He wasn’t very hungry and it wasn’t time for him to make tea. He wasn’t one of the main performers, he wasn’t a performer at all really, so he had nothing to practice or prepare. As far as he knew, no one was injured and no one seemed to need his help. He was left to his own devices, but he just had no idea what to really do.
Deciding that walking around was only going to leave him tired and even more bored than he currently was, he took a seat on a bench on the main patio near the beach and just stared at the water. Sometimes he would glance by at other’s and read their expressions to the best of his ability, but he just sat, waiting for something, just not knowing what.
Junhyung was behind his cottage, long mirrors lined up against the wall, the smaller mirrors on the floor. He set up all kinds of things in front of the mirrors. A stray log, a pile of leaves, his books. As long as they were visible in the mirror, he didn't care what it was. He found the carcass of what looked like a deer and was tempted to use it as well. He was always curious of his restrictions with the reflections. He figured that he couldn't put anything with a living heart in the mirrors, but what about a dead heart?
There was a time in his life that he considered this seriously. He's never actually tried it, but he always wondered if he would be correct. And if he was, he could be the best serial killer anyone has ever heard of. But those thoughts escalated quickly, and scared him more than they should have. But the curiosity was always at the back of his head, nagging at him to man up and just try it. But really, if Junhyung didn't like putting himself in the mirrors, what would ever make him want to put anyone else in them?
He was sitting in front of the group of mirrors, a satisfied smirk on his face as he practiced turning inanimate objects into moving people. He figured that it could be something new that he could use with the guests at the cirque. His mind raced at the thought, immediately thinking of new ideas. And quickly, the pile of leaves turned into Michael Myers, looking as if he was running out of the mirror, knife in hand and mask as creepy as ever.
It took him years to even begin being at least good at his skill. When he was younger, he would have to draw out exactly what he wanted the reflection to look like and put it next to the mirror. And even then, the images were too cartoonish, too big or too long. He practiced day and night with endless amounts of reflections in order to get him to this point. All he had to do was imagine what he wanted and it would start to form. Naturally, he always found imperfections or flaws in his work and would spend his time working on the specific image until he perfected it.
The Myers mirror cut through his thoughts. His brows knit together as he stood up, making his way to the said mirror. The image stopped moving but it didn't stop the crack that already started to form. In only a few seconds, the mirror was in pieces and on the ground. Though the pieces didn't go down with a fight, his forearm had a long red scratch, blood flowing through in such a way that he wasn't sure if it was safe.
He muttered a curse under his breath and pressed his shirt against the wound, making his way around the land in search for anyone that could help him. His eyes caught sight of a male he had never seen before, granted that he hadn't seen half of the performers he didn't pay much attention to that detail. Junhyung rushed over to the latter, his shirt starting to get soggy as he called out a short but loud, "Hey!" once he made his way to the male he let his shirt loose, revealing the wound on his arm. "Can you help me? Or at least tell me where I can find someone that can?"
Swordplay | Xia & Junhyung
The blue skies were beautiful and Xia was busy looking up at it instead of paying attention to much else. It was almost too late when she glanced in the reflection to see a man running towards her to grab her arm. Blinking a few times, she lowered her blade and tilted her head curiously up at him. “Hi.”
She evaluated him for a moment, wondering if she’s seen him before. Also because he came running so she let him compose himself. The only guesses were that he was either really new, or someone she just hasn’t seen around- which was usually the case. She was sure she hasn’t even talked to half of the cirque members. Though she should really work on that. Especially since they were on the island and they had time
"Something I can help you with?" She asked curiously, it was unusual for someone to come up to her not related to her performance or to help clean up somewhere. Her knives were usually conversation starters though. Still, most people wouldn’t go for the girl with dangerous weapons. Xia had already almost taken off someone’s foot as it was. He was lucky she noticed in time and didn’t get all defensive like the other time.
At her question, he spent longer than he should have trying to word his question correctly. It was unusual for him; normally he would talk before thinking. Something that always caused him trouble, but something that he never bothered to stop doing--or at least until now. It was the excitement of meeting her that got to him, he concluded. As much as he was interested in the swords, he was also interested in the one that had the ability to play with them as she did.
"I'm Junhyung." he introduced himself quickly, giving the girl a slight bow at the neck. His eyes lingered on her for a few moments before he cleared his throat. "Honestly, I came over here to ask if I can look at your swords." he admitted, his hand moving to the back of his neck. It was an action that he noticed made him look more innocent, even if just slightly. He had done it so many times it might as well have been embedded into his nerve system.
He looked down as he did so, noticing the dagger in her hand once again. The sun hit it perfectly in the sense that he could see himself in it clearly. His curiosity along with his greed grew. He hid it as best as he could though, not wanting to ruin his chances even at the smallest glance. His hand dropped back to his side, his eyes moving up to her face again. "How about it? I could show you some tricks." he offered, his eyebrows raising as if it would help him in convincing her.
Opposites Attract | BoA & Junhyung
Pushing her hair to hang over her shoulder as she traced lines in the sand with her fingers. She wondered momentarily her power would work if she drew something in the sand. Discarding the thought almost immediately skeptical that it would work even if she tried. As a wave washed up against the shore again it took with it her miscellaneous drawing when it receded back. She shrugged carelessly.
She rinsed her sandy hands off in the water, drying them off on her shorts. Out of the corner of her eyes she noticed someone approaching and began to stand up as he neared. Turning to face him she took in his appearance, aside from his attractive facial features it was his unusual attire that had caught her attention the most. It seemed to her that he didn’t care much for fashion.
Masking her face in indifference she replied back casually “can’t say that we have. I’m pretty sure I would have remembered the outfit” Her arms crossed over her chest. She looked him up and down once more.
His face twisted into a look of confusion at the other's comment. Looking down at his clothes, he blinked and shrugged as if for himself. He didn't see anything wrong with it. Then again, he remembered seeing his father wear an outfit similar to his. Am I getting old? he thought to himself before realizing that she still didn't know his name, nor did he know hers.
It was then that Junhyung paid attention to how the girl really looked like. The curves in her face, the length of her hair. The clothes that she had on--which admittedly made him feel conscious about what he decided to throw on that day. She was cute, he concluded, even more so. After scanning over her facial features once more, a smile tugged on his lips as his eyes locked with her's.
"My name is Junhyung." he nodded once, sliding a hand out of his pocket to hold it out to her. Truthfully he didn't really understand the point of handshakes. He didn't like them, but he was taught at an early age to always offer his hand in a greeting. It was the normal way of interacting with people. But then again neither of them were really normal, were they?
