CITY FLAG TOURNAMENT FAQ

This tournament will be strictly 1v1, regardless of the number of competitors.

Polls will be open for a week.

The goal of this tournament is NOT to determine which city flag has the best design but rather each flag should be judged along more subjective means. Which you like the best, which one draws more emotion from you, etc. The exact parameters are yours to decide for yourself.

The fact is, there are a great many city flags out there, past and present. Therefore, voting depending on vexillological/personal/jokey standards is not discouraged.

Now that the tournament is over, I was wondering which of the flags you were rooting for.

I have a lot of love for Tikiraqjuaq and Slaughter Beach, but I might be a little biased since I nominated both myself 😅

Honestly, I love probably most of the flags, especially the ones that I spent an undue amount of time editing in Illustrator to bring them up to quality lol so I was mostly just having a good time back here on the organizational side

Now that I'm on my way back from Milwaukee, I wanted to give you all a flag update!

I paid close attention to anything that resembled either flag and ended up with just these:

That's four for the People's Flag and zero for the current (yes, I didn't see anything for it at all), though I did see all four of these in Bay View. Now, in light of recent news, I understand why discussion of the flag change has been tabled for now.

I hope by the time it comes back up, the People's Flag is something that more of the population of the city can feel represented under, but I suppose thats just an indirect way of saying that I'm hoping for a good bit of cross-city community building.

Congratulations to Palekh for winning the City Flag Tournament!!

Based on the (technically still as of yet tentative) results from the semi-finalist shuffle polls, we can actually see that our 2nd place winner is Dlouhá Třebová!

While it is possible that Tikiraqjuaq is 3rd and Kanepi Parish is 4th, these are actually not results that we can determine without putting them up against flags previously eliminated by Palekh and Dlouhá Třebová. I'm willing to do 1-day polls to determine up to the top 10, but only if at least a few people want it, but other than that, I think we have 3 more flower flag polls planned, and that's it!

Huge thanks to everyone who voted, shared the polls, and helped out behind the scenes! It's been a wonderful time, and I'm very glad to have gotten to run this tournament!
