Angles Mirror by Daniel Rozin
Interactive installation using a triangular method of representation with a motorized array:
The âAngles Mirrorâ rejects the idea of building a picture based on relative lightness and darkness. Instead, it explores a system of linear rotation that indicates the direction of an objectâs contour. A wall-mounted sculpture, the âAngles Mirrorâ is a sharp triangular block of steel, dotted with yellow indicator arms that pivot. Based on the isometric grid, its structure favors the patterns and angles found in an equilateral triangle. The arms, which do not have the ability to change brightness or luminosity, use input from a camera and reconstruct the view with areas of varying angles. The negative space surrounding a viewer is translated into horizontal lines on the picture plane. Rather than creating a photorealistic image, the three-dimensional movement of a figure is represented, visualizing optical flow as viewerâs proximity to the sculpture changes. A nuanced contour results, as the viewer shifts back and forth, altering how the structure of space is perceived. Similar to âFan Mirrorâ, in the âAngles Mirrorâ, the sequence of movement across the picture plane is directed in part by its audience. When the viewer walks away from the work, or chooses to view the sculpture from a distance, a series of predefined images and transitions cover the objectâs surface.

Aaron Swartzâs Tragic Battle With Copyright
Aaron H. Swartz, one of our our most vigorous champions of open access and copyright reform, committed suicide in New York City on Friday at the age of 26.Â
He was a pioneer and a renegade, part of the team that built Reddit as well as the widely-used RSS protocol. But he first began making headlines for a coding exploit that he undertook in September of 2010, when he used MITâs servers to scrape and download some two million academic articles stored by the online catalog JSTOR using a program named keepgrabbing.py. Per copyright law, it may have been illegal or, as some argue, âinconsiderateâ: these articles were meant only to be available to MIT affiliates, not to the wider world that Swartz believed deserved better access to the worldâs information.Â
MIT didnât press charges and neither did JSTOR. The government, however, decided to throw the book at Swartz, eventually hitting him with 13 separate charges and threatening to send him to prison for decades. According to his mother, Swartz was depressed about the court case and possibility of years in prison. Heâd contemplated suicide in the past and, for unknown reasons, followed through this time.

Does the Universe Have a Purpose
The Monday ponderable comes from Neil deGrasse Tyson and the John Templeton Foundation which is asking scientists and scholars âBig Questionsâ.
Dissatisfied with with Neilâs response? Visit the Templeton Foundation for those who answer, Yes, No and I Hope So.
Recently, I attended both Pycon UK and Pycon Ireland to talk about the lessons I have learnt while maintaining mongoengine. The conferences were both excellent and surprisingly different. Pycon UK had quite an âunconferenceâ feel, with some exciting sprint rooms - I wish I had more time as...
Quem quiser ajudar esteja a vontade.
