Stuart Rideout Film Asks Britain To #ShowTheLove

‘I Wish For You…’ is Stuart Rideout’s latest film for the Climate Coalition’s annual #ShowTheLove campaign. In the run up to Valentine’s Day people across the UK will be showing their love for the people, places, and life they want to protect from climate change. To inspire people to take action, actors Jeremy Irons and Maxine Peake, author Michael Morpurgo, Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman and director Stuart Rideout have joined forces to make the heartrending film about a grandfather’s poignant last letter to his granddaughter. "Climate change is such a multifaceted subject we wanted to create a film that really engaged the audience in away that was both inspiring and emotive. I was conscious of being too bleak so we based the idea around a grandfather who’s inspired by his love for the world around him to write a letter to his granddaughter. It was a pleasure working with Michael Morpurgo, reading his first draft of the screenplay made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Then Jeremy and Maxine really breathed life into Michael’s words and the whole film just came to life in a very organic and evocative way. We all have to engage with the subject of climate change and I sincerely hope this film helps with this engagement." RSA Director Stuart Rideout The Climate Coalition, which includes WWF, ActionAid, RSPB, Oxfam, and the National Trust is calling for 100% green energy within a decade.
