For decades, the medical community has ignored mountains of evidence to wage a cruel and futile war on fat people, poisoning public perception and ruining millions of lives. It's time for a new paradigm.
“For 60 years, doctors and researchers have known two things that could have improved, or even saved, millions of lives. The first is that diets do not work. … The second big lesson the medical establishment has learned and rejected over and over again is that weight and health are not perfect synonyms.“
“Studies have found that anywhere from one-third to three-quarters of people classified as obese are metabolically healthy. … Meanwhile, about a quarter of non-overweight people are what epidemiologists call “the lean unhealthy.” … Habits, no matter your size, are what really matter.“
“Doctors are supposed to be trusted authorities, a patient’s primary gateway to healing. But for fat people, they are a source of unique and persistent trauma.“
“According to several studies, thin doctors are more confident in their recommendations, expect their patients to lose more weight and are more likely to think dieting is easy.”
“Then there are the glaring cultural differences. … wealthy, skinny doctors will often try to bond with their low-income patients by telling them, “I know what it’s like not to have time to cook.” Their patients, who might be single mothers with three kids and two jobs, immediately think “No, you don’t,”“
““She didn’t even ask me what I was already doing for exercise,” he says. “At the time, I was training for serious winter mountaineering trips, hiking every weekend and going to the gym four times a week. Instead of a conversation, I got a sound bite. It felt like shaming me was the entire purpose.”“
If a ceasefire holds, you boycott Israel HARDER, you divest, you push for sanctions. You don't perform for apartheid. You don't whitewash genocide. You don't pretend like Israel isn't still a violent occupier stealing land and collectively punishing Palestinians daily
We are still suffering and we have not seen any goodwill from Israel to allow us to rebuild our lives. We are waiting for your support at every moment. Yes, at every moment we enter, we look for those who donated to us or supported us, for those who share our post. I love you all. We are waiting for your donations at any moment because this makes a difference in our lives. Donate to us from here.
Solidarity is for life. The struggle continues. Free Palestine. Donate to my friend's campaign or share if you can 🙏🏾

The real reason why you need to be social is the best chinese place within 10 miles is an unknown hole in the wall with a yearly marketing budget of $15 dollars and you will never, ever find it unless someone tells you about it.
I remember what happened with Occupy Wall Street. Entirely peaceful. Patiently dealing with political harassment. Seeking in good faith the reforms which had been promised but never delivered upon. And the Obama administration used the police state apparatus to ruthlessly crush it anyway.
They don't care about justifications. They don't need pretext. They'll just do it and blame you anyway.
The moment your protest is declared illegal is the moment your protest starts working.
The spirit of Diogenes is alive and well
This is funny, obviously, but even if you don't go to the extreme of the example above, this is a separate seat for one person, with a back and 4 legs:
But it's not a chair. It's a bar stool.
This, however, are all chairs:
Each one is missing at least one component of the chair definition above.
So like... it's almost like strict definitions are exclusionary.

So this is definitely a case of "we did not expect Harvard to fight back and we forgot they have billions of dollars and the best lawyers"
"we forgot that they have almost forty billion dollars. most of the people we pick on do not have almost forty billion dollars, or really any number of billions of dollars, and we are realizing that 'almost forty billion' is a big variable to leave out of your strategic calculations. really cannot emphasize enough that we have not racked up a lot of experience bullying - specifically - targets who possess close to forty billion U.S. dollars"
They also forgot what Harvard makes, its primary reason for existence: lawyers.
Yep. If you're a Harvard grad, and you're not a doctor, you're probably a high end lawyer. And alums are pissed.
reblog if you would dress up as a bear to scare guy fieri
Well, you see, The Trump Administration accidentally texted the Editor In Chief of the Atlantic its war plans (link to archived article)
They've fuckin' done it again lads
I made these as a way to compile all the geographical vocabulary that I thought was useful and interesting for writers. Some descriptors share categories, and some are simplified, but for the most part everything is in its proper place. Not all the words are as useable as others, and some might take tricky wording to pull off, but I hope these prove useful to all you writers out there!
(save the images to zoom in on the pics)
Oh, that’s very helpful indeed!
I still think it’s objectively fucked how the world is built for morning people and if you wake up later than everyone else you’re seen as a malicious aberration of some sort. I am that but it’s not because I wake up at 11 fuck yourself
