Yana’s commentary from the art book: 2期は完全オリジナルだったので一視聴者として楽しませて頂いた感が強いのですが、物話のラストを決める際「セバスとシエルが敗北する」という家を出させて頂いたのはワタシでした。しかも、二度と取り返しの付かないままです。個人的に2期は最高に「黒」らしいエンディングを迎えさせて買ったなと思ってます。原作では見る事ができないような沢山の表情を見せてくれたアニメのセパスを想って描いたイラストです。アロイスたちの笑顔に「死」「敗北」ではないのだ。という意味も込めました、シエルの雄も特別仕様です。

The second season was a complete original, so I very much enjoyed it as an ordinary viewer. However, "Sebastian and Ciel lose" as the ending and that they lose so badly that it can't be undone was my idea. I personally feel that the second season ended in the "blackest" way possible. I drew this illustration with the anime version of Sebastian in mind, who had revealed many expressions you never see in the manga. Alois and company's smiles signify that "death" does not equal "defeat." Ciel's eyes are drawn differently than usual.

#I wish everyone would read this #cos most people don’t really understand what season two is about or what the trancys represent as characters #and yeah the whole season is a big fuckin mess #but there’s a lot of aspects to it that fuck hard and this is one of them #and Claude and Hannah are two fascinating three dimensional characters that add so much to the themes of the story #and our understanding of demons in the black butler universe
