To assume he was cold was not quite accurate. Of course, neither was it completely false. Rather, one could assume he was merely an impatent man. For he had once raised her from foul dust, given a second chance where he should not have, all because he was a merciful god in that, despite being no more godly than he was a devil. He had trusted, and had his trust betrayed by a whim. Now lingers he on the precipice of his rage, carefully edging towards that mistake he would not forgive again. A repeat. He would not forgive again. Nothing wore thin but his patience. Oh, he expected so much more. She must remember. Something in her core must whisper of what she had ‘forgotten—“ what was wiped from her memory and kept as the most vile of secrets. And he was wise not to appeal to that hidden truth. “I am quite aware you hear.” How she could with his empty whispers was extraordinary in itself. “But do you listen?” A fine line between the two. He had always made sure he was heard, but to be listened to! That was rare indeed. She looked terrified. Absolutely terrified. [He who giveth taketh away] He merely blinked at her confession. “As I am aware,” the artist murmured. “But your wanting drew the creature out. Now it runs rampant in the halls. A ‘weird girl,’ you say. What have I told you about others, Mary?” His eyes were burning cold. “Do you see what becomes of your ‘curiousity?’”
How could she remember her past if the only man who could give it back to her was the one who took it away?
The entire situation was impossible, though Mary did not know such a thing. Her frustrations could not be unleashed upon him, for she had none to release. And that was his fault.
Mary was oblivious, just as he had wanted her to be all along. She still adored her Papa, even now when he was so cold and unforgiving. But Papa always forgave.. at least in her mind.
"Yes, Papa.. I do listen. But, sometimes I disobey. And.. that makes me bad."
She was a bad child, and she had finally accepted it. It was a wonder how Papa still loved her as he did.
His words of curiousity and the others made her slump her shoulders and avert his dark gaze. Curiousity was an emotion she'd had in her for awhile, but Papa always scolded her for it. He had told her once that 'curiousity killed the cat', and that it would kill her eventually as well. As for the others, well..
"The others are bad. They want to hurt me. They'll do nothing but try to lead me into deceit and crime and hate." Her miserable eyes looked back up at him, hoping, pleading that was the right answer. "I'm sorry, Papa. I think that the girl left.. or maybe not. Maybe one of the paintings ate her."
♛; "Father won’t kill me because he’s never around."
Painful memories returned once more with that retort, but it was undoubtedly a true statement. Presumably, this other version of herself had not been around long enough to realize that the artist who created this fabricated world and its denizens is no longer around.
In addition to that, the painting liked her spot under the tree; beneath its porcelain branches dotted with almost life-like verdant leaves. “Besides, you’re not the boss of me just because you’re me."
This girl was completely irritating.
What did she know about Papa? Mary bet that he didn't talk to her daily, like he did with her. She knew Papa must have abandoned her, which was why she must have been denying it. Stupid, this clone was. Just like all of the others.
"Papa talks to me. Maybe because he cares about me more than he does you."
"He speaks to me in my head. And because I'm the real Mary, I am the boss of you. So move."
"Painting food is what you’ll become if you get too close to my relatives. They’ll munch on you until there isn’t anything left." That…wasn’t what he wanted to hear. The entire time he was here, Reisuke hadn’t thought that there was any immediate threat to his life. Of course, it was a dangerous situation not knowing where one was and being completely in the dark. Though, he had not been warned of a DEAD END and he had not seen such danger in this place. Especially with this seemingly innocent girl. However, it seemed as if he was terribly wrong. "…Oh…"
Perhaps he should try to leave on his own.
Snickering under her breath at his sudden realization of how dangerous the gallery truly was, Mary gave a soft smile to him. She would help him escape from here. It was required of her. But that didn't mean she couldn't scare him in the process, now did it?
It seemed that even without her previous memories or emotions, she still had that small spark of mischievous intent in her.
"Oh, but don't worry, Reisuke."
"They can't hurt you. At least, not while I'm around. Not a thing will harm you. I'll make sure of it, okay?"
Grabbing his hand, she gave it a firm squeeze. It felt strange to hold such a small hand, really. It was a little chubby, too, like he'd overeaten or something.
Humans were so weird.
Look who's home.
Say, I wonder if it’s fine to strike her down That girl who’s targeting my rose
I won’t allow you to escape from me Because Ib and I are already friends~
Now, whose fate would you chose? That person, or me? Which one will win?

The last work of Guertena’s life.
While the girl appears almost lifelike, naturally, she is not based on a real person.
