Hi everyone, please read this. My friend Stephanie, 18 years old, was recently diagnosed with Peritoneal Ovarian Cancer Stage 3, I am a childhood friend of hers and I have asked her consent for what I’m going to say. she’s gone through a lot since young, when she was 6 years old, someone she really trusted, her uncle, abused and raped her, he got away with it because she did inform the police however was blamed for “not taking care of herself” she wanted to proceed on with the case but was afraid that no one would believe her, she had to explain in details what happened and she was not ready for it. She had to drop the case as she was not prepared at all to explain the story and remember the moment again. Fast forward to when she was 11 years old, her mum passed away due to Ovarian Cancer. This really was a disheartening news for her, she was completely grief-stricken. I remembered consoling her when she felt the entire universe was against her, as cliche as that sound, but it was what she felt and she felt it real. Now she’s 18, and got diagnosed with Peritoneal Ovarian Cancer, with a 42% chance of surviving, she is recommended to do 6 cycle of surgery to decrease size of cancer cells, chemotherapy and will be on medication to decrease risk of infection after the treatment. She is also recommended to undergo treatment by May. We have looked for help, the Cancer Association and Health Insurance would not be able to cover the full cost, she needs to raise $52000 to undergo her treatment. Though this is far fetch and she told me many times that it is impossible to raise this much by May. But I don’t think it’s impossible, my friend and I are Organising and managing Stephanie’s campaign, please show her there is more of humanity and that she deserves to see and live another day, that she’ll eventually get to seek justice one day for what her Uncle did.
