A wedding cake rather original, isn't it?
Because Sunday also means cheat day and 0 stress, today home made burger is required!
>>> btw stay informed for the next article, it will talk about home made burgers and everything you must know about it
DEBATE : What is your favorite burger ?!
Number 1: The traditional, Amercian and cheap one? Number 2: The healthy, gourmet but more expensive one?
Burger Mania
Initially dedicated and created for food restaurants, just as McDonald’s, burgers is truly became a real trend these last years and burger market has increased significantly. How to explain this obsession for burgers all around the world?
In fact 50 billion burgers are sold each year in the United States, no less. One could even make more than 32 round trips from the Earth to the Moon by aligning all burgers consumed by US.
But 10 years ago burger was synonym of junk food, fast food and obesity. But things have changed and mentality as well and the burger market has explodes.
The reason is that many retailers want to innovate and go upmarket, and these companies are not only selling burgers anymore, but real burgers that will make you jump up of pleasure. This innovation has a name: “Gourmet Burger”.
The concept: provide quality, by replacing the industrial and chemicals used in the preparation of traditional burgers with quality ingredients carefully selected. With fresh meat, selected ingredients and a palm oil free bread.
People, and whatever the country, is looking for quality especially after the “Mad Cow” scandal. In 1996, the scandal reveals to the public the repulsive below their diet: cows fed from animal meal. Aware of the danger, retail immediately adapts their ingredients.
Now a days, this new quality trend has created new restaurants specialized in Gourmet Burger just as Big Fernand, Mythic Burger, 213 East Street, Five Guys, or Frog Burger with a price that can reach 15$. And more and more restaurants offer burgers directly inside their card, and burgers can easily reach their best selling.
Now that eating a burger is not necessarily related to a need to eat quickly, but a real need of quality we can ask what is the future for the fast food restaurant just as McDonald’s or Burger King ? And now that burger has truly become a fashion gourmet product cross the world, we can ask ourselves if the "Burger" is a trend that will gradually diminish or outright timeless fashion?
I don't know you, but I would prefer to have a BIG BURGER than a #penpineappleapplepen

Through this blog, I cannot talk about burgers without talking about fast food, and more precisely about McDonald’s and its giant and incredible globalization around the world.
McDonald’s is almost assimilated as a myth since 1937, in fact McDonald’s is not only a fast food restaurant where you can eat a Big Mac, but this is also 31 000 restaurants in 119 countries, employing more than 1.5 million people, which is about 1/4 of Singapore's population. Basically, McDonald’s is now a day a reference in term of globalization.
But first, let’s get everything clear: for you, user who has never participated in an economics course in your entire life, what is globalization? “Globalization” sounds like a complicated concept right? To be honest: not at all! Globalization is local or national ways of doing things spread all around the world, it can be economical, political, and cultural. Let me give you an example, Madeleine is a French girl and she has a real admiration for the American model Cara Delvigne. Cara is always wearing jeans with the famous white Nike baskets, so Madeleine is going to buy new jeans and baskets to look like her model. This is what we call globalization: people from all over the world who are acting in similar ways.
So, why McDonald’s is an example in term of globalization?
Created in 1937 by the brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald in California, the first fast food is a huge success, so in 1953 the brothers decided to create franchises all around the United States, but this is still not enough. In the 70’s they decided to implant McDonald internationally: Costa Rica, Panama, Japan, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa and more.
McDonald’s success is mainly based on the propagation of the “American Way of life” that is a dream come true thousands of Europeans, Asians, Africans and so on.
Of course McDonald’s success is the best example when are talking about globalization, but they are not the only ones on the burger market. Many fast foods restaurants specialized in hamburgers have emerged these last year like Burger King, Wendy, and Subway who were also helped the burger expansion all around the world...
In term of conclusion I would say that McDonald's should not only fear competition from other big names in fast food, but it must also deal with the emergence of "Fast-Casual Restaurants” like Shake Shack, Five Guys, Panera Bread, Panda Express or even Jason's Deli. New concept of fast food high-end, mid-way between restaurant and takeaway, these fast-casual restaurants are becoming increasingly popular in the United States. Since 2011, the Wall Street Journal the number of young people 19-21 years who eat at McDonald's every month fell 13%, while attendance at fast-casual restaurants has increased.
So, what is the future for burgers ?!
In live!!!!! With this juicy and crispy burger!
From La Java, Paris 2ème !
The French burger is definitely the best one. And u, what do you think?!
"There is nothing in the world than can compare with a hamburger!" I swear it's Wimpy who told us...
The TRUE origin of hamburgers
The first traces of the hamburger…
As its name suggests, the hamburger was born in Hamburg, Germany. It comes from the immigration of Germans to America in the 19th century, but its basic ingredient, chopped steak, had already come a long way…
Indeed this is during the 12th century that Genghis Khan, crowned “emperor of all emperors”, decided to conquer the world with his army of fierce Mongol horsemen. But they were forced to remain in the saddle long time to stop eating. So they get used to transport minced meat under the saddle to soften, and easy to eat with one hand while traveling.
Thus was born minced meat! Step by step the dish is enriched with onions, tomatoes, salads, etc…before travelling throughout Europe!
Burgers into the conquest of the United States…
In the mid -19th century, many Germans left the country for America from the port of Hamburg. Ground beef steak is the main course served on the boats of the maritime line between Hamburg to the US.
The immigrants continue to prepare this new “steak cooked in the Hamburg style” (also accompanied by 2 slices of bread + potatoes). And little by little the recipe is spreading in America: from New York to California through the Great Lakes, Dakota, Iowa, and Colorado, the “Hamburgers” is quickly becoming a popular phenomenon in the country of Uncle Sam.
The beginnings of the Fast-Foods…
In 1931, the comic strip Popeye welcomes a new character: Wimpy, the particular sign of this character is to love the burgers. His popularity is such that a hamburger restaurant chain appear, called Wimpy’s.
In 1940, 2 brothers (Maurice & Richard) decide to create a burgers restaurant with a quick service and competitive prices; therefore they are developing a system called “Speed Service System” for example the washer is replaced by cardboard and paper. Burgers are added and customers come one after another! McDonald’s is born! The concept will finally conquer the entire world!

Who, here, has never tasted a very good burger?
Who, here, has never tasted a very good burger? With fresh tomatoes and salad, crispy onions, grilled cheese, flavoured with a perfect sauce, with a juicy steak and coated in fluffy bread, mmmh I’m already starving... As Benjamin Franklin has very clearly stated “An apple a day, keep the doctor away” well, I’m pretty sure that B Franklin wanted to say that “A burger a day, keep the doctor away” (probably a pronunciation error by the way). Anyway, the second version of the quote is probably more relevant that the initial one, because we all know that a burger is thousand times more good than an apple (probably not for our belly but at least for our moral !)
This last century, the burgers have become true myths, fashion and a real trend. With the approval rating of the social medias like Twitter, Instagram and so on, it is so easy to share its own burgers with friends, like “Look at my veggie burger, so good and only for 16€”. How is it possible? How a piece of bread, with steak and vegetables can cost 16€? That is just unbelievable right?! No that is only called tendency...
