Dianna Agron

Some people are angry about what Dianna did by wearing the āLikes Girlsā shirt on tour in Toronto.
As they should be.
I donāt entirely understand this. Just because sheĀ ādoesnāt understandā the hardships that come with being part of the LGBTQ community? You can understand it without having to live it. Granted itās not the same as having to live through the difficulties, but she brought visibility to the LGBTQĀ struggle for equality and she broughtĀ support.Ā
Actually, no. You fucking canāt. And thatās the problem.
First of all, Dianna Agron didnāt bring shit to shit. āBrought visibility to the LGBTQ struggle?ā As if actualĀ LGBTQ people, with actual LGBTQ experiences have not been talking about their oppression and struggles for fucking decades? If anyone truly believes that Dianna Agron, cisgender straight woman supreme, has ever done a goddamn relevant thing for the LGBTQ that actual LGBTQ people have not, I advise them to step the fuck back and think about their life and/or choices.
Dianna Agron can not ever know the hardships of being a queer person without actually being queer. I cannot know what itās like being a fucking butterfly without being a butterfly.Ā Who actually believes that I can? If I came to you and told you everything about being a butterfly, I still wouldnāt be a butterfly. This is common fucking sense. Her support is fine and fucking dandy, but when that support gets to the point where she gets in her skull that she knowsĀ my oppression and my life? We have a problem. We have a big one.
This whole movement is about equality, we canāt have equality without heterosexual alliances. We have to accept each other. Whether we are gay, straight, bisexual,Ā lesbian, transgendered, pansexual, having supporters, especially those who can bring even more visibility to the cause, it shouldnāt matter the sexual orientation.Ā
Fuck this. I donāt need heterosexual āalliesā that pretend to speak for me or my cause. I donāt need hetero āalliesā who drown out my voices and appropriate my life.
Straight people never have, and never will, need allies. What do they need allies for? What do they need support for? Being the default? For being considered normal? Oh shit, that must be so freaking tough of straight people. I bet being normal and accepted and celebrated day after day in media/society is such a fucking drag. Want to switch places?
She wrote a post explaining how much she cares about and supports the LGBTQ community.
No, she wrote a post thatĀ simultaneouslyĀ patted herself on the back for wearing a bullshit T-shirt and attempted to justify her wearing of said bullshit T-shirt. Wearing a shirt that says ālikes girlsā when you identify as straight is one of the most privileged fucking things you can EVER do. You know why? Dianna Agron can take that shirt off tomorrow and forget about it. I canāt take off my queerness. I canāt take off my pansexuality. Dianna Agron never ever has to think about her sexuality as a straight person ever. Hell, she probably still wasnāt thinking of her sexuality the night she wore that jank-ass shirt! And if she did, it was probably to assure some questioning bystander that no, she really is straight. If anyone asks her tomorrow if she really likes girls, she can flip that hair of hers and tinkle out a laugh and go, āOh no, Iām really straight, I was justāā
Fuck. That.
She obviously cares about her fans and what we go through. Itās unfair to be angry at her for wearing a shirt. Many people wanted the show to focus on visibility by having Santana wear her shirt, and she does. But it was Dianna herself, now Quinn who wore the shirt, speaking louder than the show. She brought attention to it and then used that to voice her opinion.
If thatās what she calls ācaring,ā then she save that shit. Donāt need it.
I speak of course only for myself, but I am thankful for what she did. Straight or otherwise Dianna has my respect and love. She did something none of the rest of the cast did, for us, for her fans and for people like us. She did it to show her support, love, and to help. So donāt hate.
I will hate all the fuck I like. I will continue to hate even harder after this post, actually, because itās shit like this that just pisses me off. You can support her privileged appropriative ass from here to back, but I donāt have to let up on her beige behind and I donāt plan to.
As for Diannaās sexual orientation and people who were upset she didnāt ācome outā. Like I said, whether sheās straight, bisexual, pansexual, lesbian, it doesnāt matter. Maybe sheās straight, or maybe she doesnāt want to declare her sexuality. Why does she need to? Not everyone declares their sexuality, some just love fluidly. Let it be.
Um, is this relevant to the situation at hand? Her sexual orientation in this situation matters a lot. Itād be hella fucking different if she was actually queer and wearing that shit. As it stands, however, sheās not queerāso the shirt needs to come off and stay off.
in conclusion, what Iām saying is, Dianna Agron made a bold move. She took a stand for many of her fans and for the LGBTQ people. For that sheāll have my respect forever.
What Iām saying is Dianna Agron made a shitty move that has been made by many an āally,ā and she didnāt do shit for me otherwise. For that she has a nice comfy spot on my shit list right under Lady Gaga and before Dan Savage. Welcome to the club, Dianna.
amazing commentary.
